Mari hummed softly to the boy. "Just stocking up on snacks, then?" She chuckled softly to the boy, a grin on her face. When he he rested his head on her head, she smiled happily to the boy. "Love youuu," she chirped in a kind of sing song voice before he went to start some eggs. She wandered over after a little while before smiling gently. She dished up the bacon, then the eggs before trotting over at him. "What you doing now?" She asked with a bit of a hum.

Sage chuckled lightly when the girl sang her comment and pecked her cheek as he wandered back over to his dough. He hummed lightly and sort of shoved one of the uncooked pastries in her face to show her, grinning widely. "I found cinnamon rolls," he chirped. He turned back to his cooking, putting the sheet of rolls in the oven before closing the door and looking back at Mari with a chuckle. "On the weekends, Lizzie and I would always smell them baking and pretend to make our own with mud and leaves," he mused, a fond look coming over his face as he remembered how little sister forcing him to sit down and pay mud into tiny 'cakes'. They could never afford a real one, of course, but they could pretend. And he supposed it had taken the hunger out of mind, at least for a bit until he had to go work in a tavern and serve food he could never actually ever eat.

Mari smiled happily to the boy before shaking her head to him. "Oh... god, I love cinnamon rolls!" She chirped happily to the boy. She had to say, she loved it when he talked to her about his sister... she'd never gotten the wonderful opportunity to meet her, but the way Sage talked about the girl... she would have absolutely adored her with all her heart. She smiled softly to the bit before shifting ever so slightly. "I have a feeling the mud wouldn't taste amazingly. She hummed quietly before pecking his cheek. "You got to let me taste test, hun," she mused lightly before shaking her head ever so slightly. She then hummed softly. "Maybe... on the weekends, when they're being baked, we can make a habit of taking the kids down to get some," she murmured quirky to him before placing the plates on the table for him and going to sit down.

Sage chuckled lightly and grinned over at the girl. "I haven't had a real one yet," he admitted softly. "But I figured I'd like to try one and not just starve while I smelled them in the background," he chirped. Then he chuckled lightly and shook his head. "No, I don't believe they were very good. I've had my full of dirt and it tastes just like...dirt," he mused. He cocked his head when she suggested taking the kids out to eat then and nodded happily. "that would be lovely," he hummed.

Mari chuckled lightly at the boys first comment. She sometimes found it so difficult to remember that he hadn't had things like that before. Little things that she walkway took for granted. "Well, let's hope they taste alright then, for your first time," she smiled happily before pecking his cheek. It was hard to make something you'd never had before, so she hoped he enjoyed it. She chuckled lightly to him. "Really? I thought that mud rolls would be wonderful," she teased him before pecking his lips happily. She smiled at him... she wanted to make sure he was happy... to give him everything he never had, and she absolutely would do that. Even if it was just taking their little family off to get some cinnamon rolls every weekend, then she'd absolutely do it.

Sage chuckled lightly at the girl's comments and then shrugged, giving her a crooked grin. "Well, they can't taste as bad as mud rolls," he chirped with a light giggle, his usual smile forming after she kissed him. "They'll have to bake for a while...why don't we eat before the rest of the food gets cold," he suggested, his tone laced with amusement still. Cold eggs really were no good...and he didn't suppose cold bacon was much better. But he still found himself thinking about how mari always wanted to do the little things that made him happy...it still seemed so odd, but he did like it. That brought him back to wondering what she had planned for his birthday...it was only a few days after they got back, and he had to admit, he was excited for it. They were all healthy and happy this time around, so really even if she didn't do anything, just being able to spend time with her not in a hospital bed would be wonderful. He doubted she'd let that happen, though.

Mari smiled lightly to him before shaking her head gently. "Sage, I've known you long enough to know you could do absolutely anything... including making a mess of some cinnamon rolls," she mused to him before pressing a light kiss to his lips. But, she supposed, he was right. They should get eating. She did hope his treats would come out alright... especially if they brought back some kind of memory for him. She took his hand and gently took him over to the table, sitting him down in front of a plate before sitting just across from him and starting to nibble on his food... she was really quite hungry now, so they are quickly, and once they were all done she grabbed their emptied plates to start cleaning up.

Sage chuckled lightly and grinned down at the girl. "Well, if I can mess up mud rolls I suppose I can mess up the real thing, huh," he chuckled lightly, kissing the girl back happily. He let her tug him over to the table, really quite happy to nibble at the food she'd made. Her food was always good, though it probably helped that he just wasn't a picky eater and would eat pretty much anything as longas ti was even remotely edible. Though, he did hope to stay away from remotely edible things now that he had a job and family, and just stick to actually fully edible. That did sound like a good plan. He helped clean up, and then when he heard the oven go off, he was reminded of the rolls and practically bounced over to open the oven door and peek inside, rather similar to a child peering in on Christmas day. They looked yummy...if they tasted as good as they looked and smelled, he'd certainly be very happy with them. He took them out happily, and put a few on a plate for him and mari. They could pack the rest up and share them with her family, or keep them for later if she wanted. It didn't matter to him. He nibbled at one, and was admittedly surprised at the flavors. It was delicious...even better than he'd imagined. He continued to nibble at the treat, savoring every bite really quite happily.

Mari shrugged, just hoping they'd be as good as he hoped them to be. And, actually, she was rather excited to try something that her husband had made... she knew he could cook, but baking was a whole different story, and she would be absolutely thrilled if he could do it. She smiled lightly to him when he helped to wash up, looking just so... happy. They were leaving, but it wasn't a bad thing... they were leaving to start their lives together, and she couldn't wait for all of it. When he bounced over to the cooker, she couldn't help her chuckle, and went to grab some plates for the two of them. She cocked her head at him when he placed one on the plate, and they did look wonderful. She picked one up, nibbling on it quietly before her eyes lit up at him. "Sage, these are wonderful!" She praised happily.

Sage just grinned over at the girl when she said they were good, though his face lit up even more at her praise, if that was even possible. He thought they were good, but he didn't exactly have much to compare them to. So for her to say they were good, and to truely mean it, was....really nice, to say the least. He sort of just nodded happily and hummed "mhmm," to her before taking another bite of his own roll happily. He wasn't so sure why he was so excited about it all, but he supposed the excitement of getting back home and to Silas, and handing out everyone's gifts, and all the rest...plus this....well, he supposed it was just a lot of excitement. And these were really yummy, so that was an added bonus, of course.
