Mari was more than happy to let the boy rest next to her... she felt awful, she really did. She hated that he felt so bad, and she had tried, but there wasn't really much she could do about it all. The doctor kind of rushed him off, which did kind of have her worried... so she waddled quickly over to Sages side with a hand on her stonach. She kind of sat on a spare chair, taking s moment to catch her breath as she looked between the doctor and her husband with a worried gaze.

Sage felt a twinge of panic build in his chest when the doctor pulled him away from Mari, but that was stilled pretty quickly once he noticed her waddling after them and settling herself down by the bed the doctor had sat him on. He turned his attention back to the old man, who was still poking around and asking the random question, which he mumbled out a response to as best he could. He was completely wiped out by then, though, so he really didn't have the energy to form complete sentences. Eventually, he let out a slight yelp when the doctor pressed his hand against his abdomen, drawing back slightly when his face twisted up in pain. The doctor sighed and nodded before patting his leg and letting flop over and close his eyes. "The bad news is he's definitely sick," he informed Mari. "The good news is, it's not likely to be contagious, so you and the child are in no danger."

Mari felt her heart rench as the boy let out his pained help, but she couldn't really do anything. Just let the the doctor do his thing so that he was comfortable. He'd help the best he could, and she knew that. She watched him flop down, and moved to gently entwine her fingers in his hair. She looked to the doctor with a bit of a frown before sighing. "Well, what's wrong with him? Can I help at all?" She asked with furrowed brows. Really, all she wanted to do was help him... but it was difficult when you yourself was so out of it. She struggled to help him out of bed, and Sage wasn't exactly heavy, was he? "Can you give him anything? He was coughing up all sorts last night and I'm worried," she added with a frown.

Sage sort of shifted to lean his head up against her leg in an effort to curl up closer to the girl and closed his eyes tiredly. He knew he should probably be listening to the doctor, but at that point he was so tired all the voices and noises were sort of just swirling together and all listening did was give him a worse headache, if that was even possible. So he sort of just let himself drift off ...Mari would get all the information they needed, and she'd make sure it all happened. The doctor grunted in response to Maris comments and plopped down in a chair next to her. "It's likely some kind of mild infection, if he was coughing stuff up," he mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "I could give him something to cough everything up, though I'm not quite sure he has the energy to handle that right now." He sighed slightly and stayed silent for a moment as he thought. "I'll shoot him full of some painkillers and something to knock him out for a while, and see if he regains any energy from the sleep. If he does, maybe it'll be enough to handle coughing it all up in one go. If not, a simple surgery might be our best option," he noted with a slight shrug. He didn't mention that the anesthesia was probably not good at all for the boy...that there was a good chance he may not wake up...there was time for that later if it came to that. But they all knew he wasn't healthy.. though he wasn't sure Mari was aware of how unhealthy he was.

Mari furrowed her brows but nodded gently. If the doctor said it wouldn't be bad, then she trusted him... she trusted every decision he made, really. She just wanted him to be alright and happy. Though, that did seem to be difficult. She had treated him in the ward years ago now, and it always seemed like a battle just to keep him with her, which was all she wanted. Even something as a mild infection could be the thing to make him kick the bucket. She sighed gently before pouting over to the doctor. "We can try that. Later, when he's more with it maybe," she whispered as she ran her thumb across his forehead. "He didn't sleep much. The rest would be good for him," she told him gently.

The doctor nodded with a slight hum. "I figured as much, given the fact that you both showed up here looking like ghosts," he joked lightly. He got up with a grunt, wandering over to find some painkillers and antibiotic that he filled some needles up with. "How much as he drank," he asked Mari, and when she confirmed he hadn't had more than a few sips in the last 24 hours, he went ahead and grabbed an IV for the boy too. Dehydration wasn't something he wanted to risk...that could very well be the tipping point for the boy. He gave him the painkiller right away...it would keep much of the pain away and it would knock him out for quite a while. The antibiotics he put into the IV fluid and hooked it up to the boy gently before adding some vitamins to the IV as an afterthought. He patted Maro gently on the shoulder once he'd finish, humming lightly. "Why don't you go ahead and get some rest too," he suggested. "He'll be alright for now, and there's no sense in you forcing yourself to stay up or lose sleep over that," he pointed out before closing the curtain around their little area, which was really just Sage's old room...they had plenty of space in there. "I'll send a messenger to your mother to take care of Silas...she can bring him to you if you'd like," he informed Mari once he thought about the fact that the little one would be waking up soon.

Mari watched everything happen before her, just looking really... scared. She didn't want anything bad to become of her husband. He was the father of her children, and quite literally the love of her life, so she'd do pretty much anything to keep him happy. She frowned when he said to get some rest, but nodded softly. "Alright," she whispered. "Can I drag a bed in here?" She knew they could both fit in these small ward beds, but Sage would need space to cough his guts up. She still wanted to be near to him, though, so dragging a bed in would be the best option. She sighed when he said he'd call her mother to care for Silas. He would be up soon, and normally his daddy was right there, but clearly he couldn't be right now. "Could she maybe bring him in tomorrow? Or whenever Sage is better? If Silas comes then he's going to want his dad, and Sage needs to sleep, not worry about him right now," she eventually concluded.

The doctor nodded in response to her comment, waving at her slightly. "You do as you please," he hummed. There really wasn't anyone else in the ward, and the room was plenty big enough to drag another bed in and still have plenty of space for the two of them. He grunted and nodded in response to her comment about her mother and then slipped away. He jotted a few notes down in his notebook before checking his watch and waving a young guard over and giving him the note he'd written to Mari's mother. No doubt the woman would be willing to help...and she'd most likely want to check up on her daughter and son-in-law when she dropped the baby off the next day anyway.

Mari gave a soft sigh and a nod of thanks to the man before going to roll another bed in. She set it down a little bit away from him before sitting crossed legged on the mattress. She'd worked in the ward for over three years... so why was it that she really couldn't handle seeing her husband all hooked up to the IV? It wasn't a particularly bad thing... but for some reason, seeing someone you loved hooked up to all kinds of tubes was a bit scary. She eventually flopped down, a hand on her stomach as she watched him finally looking a bit more peaceful.

The doctor eventually wandered back to his office and scribbled down some more notes about symptoms and treatments and everything else that he usually wrote down about patients. Hopefully, the boy would wake up later and be able to cough everything up, and that partnered with some antibiotics would get him back to normal soon. He was still knocked out in his room, and he'd looked a lot better once the painkillers hit his system. Hopefully that would help too. Once he was done writing, he sighed and decided to go get something for his patients to eat...and Mari too. She was around 6 months pregnant by then, almost 7 month really, so she'd be hungry. And for good reason too. (I think my math is somewhat right as to how long she's been pregnant lol)
