Mari furrowed her brows gently at him before sighing. Man, she didn't want him to be scared... she wanted him to sit there and tell her it would be alright, and that they were in good hands. Their fear was different. Sage was scared of loosing her. And the baby, she supposed, whereas she was just scared of dying. She didn't want to leave Sage alone here. He didn't deserve that. "I'm not sure," she whispered after a moment or two. She shouldn't worry so much... it was normal for this sort of thing to happen, she knew that, but it didn't make her feel any better. "What if something does go wrong.... Sage, what happens then?" She asked quietly. She wasn't sure... but she had a feeling she'd rather talk about it now rather than have Sage in a panic if something didn't go to plan later on.

Sage did trust the doctor, and he knew that he'd do everything he could to make this whole process smooth and easy, for everyone involved. But he still couldn't help but worry. He glanced over at her when she mentioned something going wrong, the emotions of what it would be like to loose her now flashing across his face for a moment before he steadied himself with a deep breath and looked up to sort of just stare at the ceiling. "I try not to give up," he muttered before looking over at her again. "But even is something happens it won't mean you're dead," he mused, trying to convince both of them that she'd be alright. "The doctor is the best in the land...he's not gonna let anything bad happen if he can help it."

Mari muttered something under her breath before going quiet. She hated thinking about this. That something could happen to her and possibly even her child. It terrified her... but she also knew that she'd already done this once, and while there had been a little hiccup, it wasn't that bad in the end. "You know what I mean Sage. If I do..." she trailed off softly before shaking her head. Really, what would happen? What would he do with the kids? Would they be alright? She couldn't have him giving up in them if that happened. "Or even if I don't. You're working with the horses, now, and if I'm not well enough to get out of bed then how are Silas and the baby going to be cared for?" She added with a soft huff of air.

Sage sighed and nodded. "I know," he hummed. If something happened, he'd do the same thing as when he cared for Lizzie...take care of them as well as he could. At least he'd have her family to help him out, too...with Lizzie he was always alone. He grunted at her other comment and shook his head. "That won't be an issue. Anthony's willing to help out with the horses, and your mother won't mind helping around the house," he pointed out. "Besides, even if you're bed ridden, you can still feed and play with them. Just...carefully." He didn't want her hurt, of course, but she was likely to be in bed for at least a few days after the birth. But that was alright...he wasn't afraid of hard work of a bit, especially if it let Mari heal up.

Mari nodded softly after a little while before shaking her head. She knew she would be alright... she had Sage willing her on, and the doctor, and she knew what to expect this time. Her body knew what to expect this time... but she also recalled the pain she was in prior to it, and it did scare her kinda... a lot. But they knew all of this when they'd started trying for another child. They knew the risks, what could go wrong, everything... they could only hope that it wouldn't happen, nothing more or less. All she wanted right then was to curl up into Sage, but she could refrain for now. Having a child was meant to be exciting, not as scary as she was making out to be.

Sage knew Mari was uneasy about the whole thing...and he was too, really. He was excited, yes, but he also knew all too well what could go wrong, and his brain liked to torture him by showing him all the horrible what-ifs and all the rest. The only thing keeping him from panicking was the fact that the girl was sitting there perfectly fine right in front of him. That, and knowing they were literally five steps away from the doctor at pretty much all times. After a while he sighed and looked over at her again, turning onto his side so he could face her. "What time are you planning on going to bed," he asked after a moment. It was around seven by then...lateish, but he wasn't sure how tired she was. He wouldn't be opposed to going to bed somewhat early, since they were always up at the crack of dawn now. But he wasn't sure if she was in a sleeping mood, and he didn't want to go to sleep while she was still upset.

Mari glanced over at him after a moment or two, then sighed and gave a bit of shrug. "Whenever I fall asleep," she murmured quietly. She was a little bit... scared still, but she could sleep. Hopefully. She was so scared, though. This was something only she could do. She couldn't ask Sage to take the pain from her, or for the doctor to do it all for her... it was all on her. That scared her most. If anything went wrong, with her or this child, it would be on her. She then looked over to Sage with a shrug. "You don't have to stay awake with me if you're tired," she told him quietly before shrugging gently. She wanted to have a bigger bed... more space, so that she could actually curl up with Sage, but she knew it was a better like this for now. She rested her hand on her stomach before giving a soft huff of air. "Would you be angry if anything happened to the baby," she whispered after a moment or two. She was so tired, but her thoughts were just reeling as she tried to get some rest.

Sage hummed softly and nodded at her comment, then wrinkled his nose slightly. "If you're nervous I'd feel bad going to sleep," he huffed slightly. Then he frowned slightly and cocked his head at her other comment. "Not at you," he finally decided on. "It wouldn't be your fault," he added on with a shrug. "It's whoever or whatever that's pulling the strings somewhere up in the sky," he muttered. Whatever was up there...he didn't know, and he didn't really care who or what it was ....but if they took his child from him like they'd taken pretty much everything else, he would definitely be mad at them. But not Mari....never at her.

The girl looked over at him with furrowed brows, her green eyes slightly dulled with nerve. "Promise," she asked in a rough sort of whisper. She was nervous. Sage said he wouldn't be mad at her, but what if in the moment he did? What if he thought it was her fault, and started shouting at her or... something. She'd seen him flip a switch in that sort of situation, and what if he ended up hurting her or something? That absolutely terrified her. He'd never even been a little bit aggressive, not towards her, but all the same she'd seen him go from being perfectly calm to really hurting people. Oh, god, she didn't need to think like that. This was a huge rabbit hole she was digging herself, and none of these things would happen. Sage wouldn't be upset with her if anything did happen, but nothing bad would come about. She'd been fine, and so would be the baby... and they'd be all normal in a few days.

Sage turned to look at the girl again and gave her a small smile and a nod. "Promise," he hummed before having to look away again. The look on her face was awful, and he hated to see her like that. She was giving him an odd look too ...one he couldn't quite place. One that almost looked like fear towards him. He knew she wasn't afraid of him, of course, but seeing her so afraid of anything was hard. He knew he was just worrying himself over nothing, but even so he was nervous. Eventually he sighed and looked over at her, suddenly just feeling so, so exhausted. "if you're not sleeping, will you at least come over here so I can wake up if you need me," he asked tiredly, a yawn breaking his sentence. He was still very worried....but he was also very tired, and he needed to be rested for the new member of their family as well as his wife.
