Mari smiled when he curled in the best he could. She knew he'd been very patient with her, but they could nearly go back to normal... have this baby, a few months and she'd be all back to normal... hopefully, that is. She knew he didn't need any of the more... intimate things to love her, or at least she hoped so... but he might have to wait those few months for any of those things, just as he had the first time. But she was happy, though. She slid her hands up the back of his shirt and tucked her nose into his chest after a few moments and gave him a small smile, though. "Mmhm you're warm," she told him with an happy smile.

Sage chuckled softly when he felt her hands slide under his shirt, as they always did. It was a sort of comfortibg thing, and it did help steady his nerves too. "I'm alive, and body heat does tend to feel warm," he mused in amusement. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head happily, just glad to be curled up with her....that sort of thing would never get old. It was always just wonderful. Anything he did with her was wonderful. She was wonderful. And so we're their children....really, life was pretty good now. He still had bad days or nights here and there, but they were definitely rarer than they were even a few months ago.

Mari huffed out in exasperation at his comment, though she was a little bit amused by it. "Oh shut up," she huffed with a small chuckle. She felt safe here, in his arms where nothing could hurt her.... where she could stop anything from hurting him, too. She felt like she was at home whenever he curled around her, no matter where they were... and yet, she still managed to feel so homesick whenever he a few inches away from her. She wanted to wrap around him. She wanted him to stay tightly sinched around her, and for now, while the belly was in the way, she couldn't really do very much about it. She soon drifted off though... much, much earlier than she'd anticipated, but that wasn't really a bad thing. She needed the rest. However, that didn't stop the tightness in her abdomen when she woke up at around eight the next morning. She reached out to grab a tight hod of Sages arm, drawing in a sort of deep breath as she tried to relax herself.

Sage chuckled slightly and hummed in fake thought. "Yes ma'am," he giggled lightly after a moment, more than happy to just...lay there. He smiled softly when he noticed her breathing even out and deepen, and he sort of just rested there, holding her as she slept, until he too drifted off to sleep. Her hold woke him in the morning, and he stirred slightly with a groan, burying himself back into the pillow and out of the light before his brain caught up and he remembered what was going on, and then realized what was probably happening...why she was waking him up. He lifted his head to look over at her, excitement and worry lingering in his gaze and in his sudden body tension. "You alright," he asked, not really knowing what to say. She looked alright...slightly pained, but that was normal, he supposed.

Mari drew in some small breaths as she waited for the boy to come around a bit more. She wasn't in bad pain... it was sort of mild, but not mild enough to just ignore. If this was happening, and was going to have this baby, then it would get worse... she'd been quite lucky with Silas, in that she managed to sleep through this bit. She looked over at him when he spoke, her brows slightly furrowed but otherwise normal. "I... think so..." she murmured in thought before smiling at him. "Yeah," she repeated. A sudden wave of excitement and nerve hit her, and while she was sore, she couldn't help but her excited about this.

Sage nodded when she said she was alright. She looked uncomfortable, but not like she was necessarily in pain. Going into labor clearly hadn't happened yet...it was just the beginning of things, he supposed. He sighed and sat up slightly, sort of just wrapping his arms around her and humming lightly. "Well if you're up then I'm up too," he chirped, rubbing his eyes slightly and yawning before shaking his head to wake up a bit more and then nestle in.

Mari looked over at him when he wrapped his arms around her, and kind of tilted her head back as the tightness came and left, though soon becoming slightly more painful as time went on. Her brows furrowed slightly as she tilted her head into him and pulled her legs up as she tried to get a bit more comfortable. It didn't seem to be doing an awful lot. She looked over to Sage, her face slightly contorted as she tried not to make it seem worse than it was.... though her excitement was fading once again, and now was overcome with a slight fear... she knew what the next few hours were going to look like, and it was frankly terrifying.

Sage knew the girl was uncomfortable, so he sort of let her move around as she pleased. He kept a hold of her though, knowing he couldn't do very much, and feeling rather bad about it...but he could try to be at least a bit of comfort to the girl. The doctor had poked his head on briefly, during morning rounds, and had simply placed the food on the side table for later. He'd checked her over briefly, and nodded with a pleased grunt before wandering out again, instructing them to tell him when things progressed. It meant everything was going fine so far ...if it wasn't then the old man wouldn't have left. He was getting nervous ...really nervous....but he tried to keep a straight face, if just for Maris sake.

The girl closed her eyes after a little while, already a little bit worn out. But so far, everything seemed... fine. Last time she could sort of just tell something was off, but not this time. This time she felt profoundly better, at least so far. The doctor seemed to think the same. So she managed to let herself relax just a little bit. She was nervous still, yes, but not as nervy as she was before. She wrapped her arms tightly around Sage, just sort of seeking out some comfort, though not getting much back. The next few hours, though, did get worse... profoundly worse. The doctor had still said that she was alright for a little while longer... but for now curled up in bed, already sweating buckets, the girl was absolutely terrified of the whole thing.

Sage was more than fine with her not giving back much....he was happy to just hold her and run his fingers through her hair, whisper random things he hoped calmed her a bit, and whatever else she needed. Hand her the cup of water, and other small things. He could tell the longer things went on, the more nervous she got ...and the more nervous he got too. He was probably just as terrified as she was, but he supposed they were terrified for slightly different reasons. Either way, he kept himself busy, telling himself he was helping her, and trying to keep her calm enough to keep her wits about her. Soon enough, though, the doctor came back in and began to prepare... whatever he needed. Sage wasn't all that sure what was happening, or what needed to be done, but the doctor let him keep her head in his lap and holding her hand as he worked, so he supposed it could have been worse. The doctor didn't seem too concerned about anything either...it all seemed to be going well. Though, he must say it was easier missing this bit.
