Sage sort of giggled at her comment, and had pretty much passed out by the time Mari had put the kids away and come back. He opened his eyes to look up at her when she came over, and gave her a mostly asleep smile. "I love you," he sort of sighed, moving to curl in a little bit as he let himself drift off. He wasn't quite sure why he'd said that...it had sort of just popped out. But he was so, so grateful for her.

Mari chuckled softly at his comment and gave a small nod as she settled down next to him, gently wrapping her arms around his side and burying her fingers into his hair in a way so that her hand was up his back. "Good, you're supposed to," she joked softly before shaking her head. "I love you too," she finished to him, gently pressing a kiss to his forehead before pulling the blankets up a bit more so they could get comfortable... and she did love him. It was sometimes a bit hard to see him like this, but she'd never stop loving him.

Sage gave her a sleepy smile in response to her comment, nestling into her happily. He drifted off soon enough then, just glad to be curled up with her again. He'd sort of curled up really quite similar to the way Silas curled up to her....but he slept pretty well like that. He woke up once with the sun, but just buried his head in her chest and went back to sleep after just a moment. He really didn't want to get up quite yet. Eventually though, his face became drawn with pain and he'd started to sweat, so he sighed and whispered Maris name, since he couldn't see the table. He felt bad about it..he didn't want to wake her...but it was starting to get really bad. Edited at August 26, 2023 01:37 PM by NightClan

Mari settled down next to him, letting him bury himself in the best he could before smiling and tightening her grip on him. She soon drifted off, much to her disappointment. She was wanting to make sure her children were comfortable, and of course that the doctor didn't have much else to do... she wanted to help in one way as a thank you, but obviously right now wasn't the time to do it. She slept for a little while before letting out a heavy breath when she heard her name being whispered. "What's up?" She asked gently, starting to sit up to help out in any way she could.

Sage shook his head when she started to get up and grunted. "You can stay still...I just need the meds," he sighed. "I didn't want to wake you but I can't see them, and I'd rather let you hand me the bottle and go back to resting than have to clean up another mess," he hummed with a shrug, though the small movement sent a wave of pain through his body and he grit his teeth together, eyes flashing in pain for a moment before the waves passed and he relaxed again.

Mari nodded and reached to grab the pills and water for him, carefully handing them to him... she furrowed her brows at his pained look, but soon put them back down and got comfortable next to him again... she just wanted him to get better as soon as he could. And that wouldn't happen unless he got good sleep... which he wouldn't get unless he was comfortable. So she let him shift and wriggle before curling up herself, slowly letting herself drift off to sleep.

Sage took the pills and water from her with a thankful grunt and took them quickly before settling back down. Or, rather...tried to settle back down. He was still hurting for quite a while, so he sort of wriggled around as he tried to get comfortable. It didn't really happen until the meds kicked in, though. It took maybe around half an hour or so, but once it did happen, he curled up with Mari agin and let himself drift off again. It was defenetaly a welcome peace.

Mari slept pretty alright for the most part... little weary the next morning, but good. Fine. She set Sages pills on the side that he could see them, along with a glass of water before heading off to help the doctor with whatever he needed... she then checked on the kids, ensuring Silas had his meds and Liz was sound before going to make some breakfast... she'd decided crepes would be a nice way to start the day... it had been nearly a week and a half now, so they were going to try and get Sage on his feet if they could. By himself for a few steps every day, and that was it. Then he could go back to being settled in bed if he felt like it.

Sage stayed asleep past Mari....well past mari actually, since he'd taken sleep meds halfway through the night alongside the pain meds, which also made him sleepy. He woke up closer to noon than anything, and reached for the pain meds with a slight groan. He took them and then took a drink before laying back down with a sigh. He then noticed the plate of food on the stand next to him, and he chuckled lightly as he reached for the food. Leave it to Mari to make sure he had food right when he woke up.

Mari set the food down on everyone's side tables... she was so tired, but desperately wanted to make sur her little family was as comfortable and cared for as they possibly could be. It meant a lot to her that they were all well... it made her feel like she may actually be doing her job right. Well, they'd decided she'd stay at home with the kids while Sage worked with the horses, so she'd gotten pretty good at that recently. She smiled to Sage and gave a small huff of air. "Hey babe," she whispered as he flopped down next to her. She did wonder if she'd get to keep on staying home now that Sage was so injured... she might have to find another job. She didn't like the idea, but if it helped their little family, she was willing to deal with it.
