Sage chuckled lightly at her comments and nodded, humming lightly. Once Mari had guided him out of the carriage, he reached over to press his hand against silas's back, so he knew where he was at. He couldn't hold the boys hand, since his was still pretty sore most of the time, but he could at least still know the boy was there. They slid into the house soon enough, Silas running off to play with Xander. Amber met them at the door, meowing loudly as she hopped into his lap once he sat down. He smiled happily and stroked her once she'd settled down, which pleased both of them. He greeted her mother once they'd all settled down together, though he couldn't see her. At her comment he craned his head around to try and catch a glimpse of her before shrugging in answer. "A lot" he grumbled. "But that was a bullet," he added. Though, that comment probably wouldn't calm her down much ....it may have just worried her more. But what else was he supposed to say?

Mari rolled her eyes at his comment... it was a little unhelpful. "She's gonna want a bit more information than that babe," she mused before shaking her head. "The bullet hit the cranial nerves, so he's lost the sight in that eye..." she looked at her husband for a moment before sighing. "We're lucky he's alive, to be honest. It could have been worse. We've just got some adapting to do," she noted gently to her... well, If Sage wasn't going to tell her, then she might as well, right? "He got Silas back, though, and I couldn't be more grateful." She added after a few moments.

Sage gave the women a sheepish grin and shrugged. "Well, she asked what it was," he mused. He nodded along with her comments, and then shrugged again. "Which is why I'm not looking in your direction....I couldn't see you if I tried," he added in. He knew she was there though....and it did admittedly feel odd to talk to someone he couldn't see and wasn't really looking at. "Silas is alright....he was scared more than anything," he told Edith. "Luckily it was only a day or two ordeal," he sighed. "Anything much more and it could have been a lot worse." It could have been a lot worse anyway, given the fact that he was somehow still around. He was glad Mari had given her his own information though, because it was still hard to admit he was half blind. And accepting it was even harder.

Mari gave a small chuckle. "Yeah, so he's not just being rude, he genuinely can't see you," she joked to her lightly. The older woman cocked her head with a very worried look. "So you won't be getting your sight back then? Not at all?" She asked with a weary look on her face. Mari just kind of went quiet after a little while. It was a bit difficult... her mother was the first person to actually find out. It was almost scary. She knew the woman wouldn't think anything less of the boy, but it was still scary. He'd saved their boy, though, and he'd only lost his sight in the one eye. That was better than loosing their child, or loosing Sage himself.

Sage glanced over at Mari when she went quiet in response to her mother's question and nodded in response, squeezing maria hand softly. "we'll make do," he said quietly. "I still have one good eye....and I'm certainly not one to give up so easily," he mused. He really didn't want anyone worrying about him....but she should know the facts and whatnot. It just seemed right. Anthony should too, though he wasn't sure where the older boy was at. Either way, he was sure Edith would tell him at some point if they didn't catch him.

Mari smiled softly to the boy, and kind of moved to entwine her fingers tightly with his. "We're already getting there," she hummed lightly. She did think that maybe this was something that Sage would want to tell her... but she wasn't overly sure. He used to pride himself on being able to do everything. He still could, but this may make people think he would be slightly less... capable. He wasn't, but it would take a little bit of time to stop bumping into things. "He'll be back to everything he used to in no time," she murmured softly to her mother. He had to be back to everything soon... she'd struggle to do it all alone. But she try, if it helped him. All she wanted to do was help. The woman nodded in agreement. "I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't worry yourself too much. I've heard from Anthony about the sorts of things you get up too. You've overcome everything else, so I'm sure this'll be nothing for the two of you," she told the couple happily.

Sage glanced over at Mari and hummed lightly in response to her comment, nodding in agreement. Hed get past it....he didn't really have any other choice. He'd couldn't just sit around all day and do nothing....he had to make money somehow. Besides, he had a feeling he'd get bored sitting around all day anyway. And...well...sitting around would welcome all the thoughts he constantly fought to keep away. Working helped him push those thoughts away....and laying in the ward for over two weeks was probably worse than trying to learn how to walk without bumping into things. He nodded in response to Edith's comment and then grinned rather bashfully when she mentioned Anthony's comment. He wasn't quite sure if that was a compliment or not. But even so, he had hope for it. "I hope so," he hummed.

Mari looked at her mother with a bit of a smile, and kind of leaned into Sages shoulder happily. She was proud of Sage... he had been though a lot, and yet he was still raising a family with her, and he was doing a good job of it. This was a set back, but it would be better soon. Hopefully. But he'd never know how proud of him she was. There were no words for her to tell him. "Sage, you'll be back to normal in no time," she chirped happily, a promising look on her face. Edith nodded in agreement, and she offered for them to stay for tea, though the two politely declined. She did ask that Anthony was only told by them what was going on... it just seemed braver, which the boy would have appreciated. They soon started to head off again, which they were more than happy to do.

Sage hummed lightly in response to their comments. "I think you two give me too much credit for stuff," he noted, slightly with amusement. He was rather glad when Mari declined tea....he loved Edith and the rest of the family, of course, but he was ready to go home. Besides....he was definitely exhausted, and had almost fallen asleep in the middle of the conversation multiple times. He wanted to go home and sleep in his own room, on his own bed. The room at the ward was his room, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but this was really his. His and Maris, and their kids. He was sure they'd be back soon enough anyway....they'd want to tell Anthony about it all, and no doubt he'd been wondering. But for now....home was nice. His bed was really all he wanted. And Mari and amber to cuddle up with, of course.

It was fairly late, so it wasn't out of character for the two of them to leave... but she could see that Sage was exhausted. They got home and settled in good time, and she made the kids a quick snack and fed Liz before settling them down... she'd make Sage a proper meal. Silas had eaten though the day loads and with Edith, and Liz wasn't eating much recently anyway. She was still just being weaned off milk, so she was throwing a fit that she had to eat her mashed food. Once they were settled, though, she stared to cook a meal before going to sit next to Sage on the couch as it heated. "Want to go see the horses before you doze off?" She asked with a hun. "Dinner will be ready soon, but I can come with you if you'd like. We won't be long," she told him gently.
