Mari drew in a soft breath before kind of tucking her nose into his neck in a way that she knew would sort of tickle... surely they could play about a little bit, while they were both sleepy? She rather enjoyed moments like this, we're everything seemed so... soft. The early morning light peering through the windows, her husbands soft breath and the warmth that seemed to be radiating off him... it was all so nice. So soft and subtle and so... safe, she supposed. It was so early, but it was funny to get those soft chuckes out of him whenever she poked or tickled him.

Sage let out a kind of tiny squeak when she moved to tickle him, twisting away slightly and yelping out a quick "Mari," of giggling complaint, though soon enough curling up and against her again. He didn't move far....he was warm and cozy, and of course he didn't mind the tickling much. In fact, he found it rather fun to play around. Besides, he could normally get a few kisses out of the deal, which was even better. Besides, it had been so, so long since they been able to just mess about the two of them, especially in bed and while they were still sleepy and it was all so...nice. Peaceful. He did enjoy it all, anytime it happened.

Mari grinned over to him at his quiet giggles, and the way his voice sort of broke when he yelped her name. It was sweet. "Sage," she purred in response before poking him once more and resting her head ontop of his lightly once she'd pressed a quick kiss to his lips... it'd been a little while since they'd been able to just play about together, they'd been so busy, and Sage had been so sore and she'd been rubbing after the family since. It was nice to be able just to play a little, even if it was while they were sorta a still half asleep.

Sage couldn't help the grin that had formed on his face in response to the girls playful initiations. "You're so mean to me," he huffed, though not at all upset about anything that was happening. It was quite the opposite, really. He chuckled at her purr before moving to tilt his head back to catch her kiss fully, humming happily as he did so before shifting so they could cuddle up again and he could actually see her. He liked to look at her....she was just so perfect and he was absolutely obviously still very much the same lovestruck boy he'd been back when they first started dating. It was nice to spend some quality time with her, especially while he actually felt good and like himself.

Mari gasped at his comment before giving a bit of a pout. "Am not!" She huffed, though her face relaxed a little when he caught her in another kiss, her smile getting bigger as time went on. She missed just relaxing with him... she missed having him so close to her, and actually being present. He was always tired now... she knew there were reasons for it, but she couldn't help but feel a little bit lonely at times. She had the kids, and the rest of the family, but it wasn't the same as having her husband to hold onto. She felt like he was coming back to her a little, she supposed. When he pulled away, she gave a small hum and rested her head back on the pillow, her smile still spread across her cheeks as she gazed at him. "Where have you been over these last few weeks," she complained teasingly. "I've missed you," she murmured softly. He hadn't been away... he'd barely left the house, but to her, it felt like he'd been missing for a lifetime.

Sage chuckled slightly at her comment and hummed lightly. "You're just awful," he teased lightly, grinning over at her when she nestled in a bit more too. He chuckled slightly at her next comment and nodded. "I've missed you and the kids too," he sighed. "The meds make me so groggy ...I feel like I can't manage anything," he admitted. Then he grinned sheepishly. "I stopped taking them for a bit but that only lasted like an hour and a half or so," he chuckled. Though, he'd healed more since then so maybe he'd try again soon. He did miss being able to do things ....to spend time with Mari and play with the kids. To ride and spend time with the horses, and even to play with Amber. Though the cat had sort of followed him a round anywhere he went by now. She'd become a sort of confidence for him ....she'd keep him from running into tables or walls or falling into a ditch outside. Which he definitely appreciated. But he did feel like he was pretty useless, and he didn't really have the energy to relearn anything much quite yet either

Mari rolled her eyes again and went to peck his lips again softly, kind of pressing herself against him the best she could... she just wanted to be close to him... it was about seven in the morning, so it was still really quite early... the kids wouldn't be up for a little while, so she didn't have to do anything other than relax here with him a little bit. "I know... it's been tough on you," Though, she started to feel a little guilty when she felt a large weight in her chest, and her breathing starting to wobble... she should be happy with the quietness if the morning, and how perfect things seemed to be right then, but for some reason she had tears pricking her eyes as she pulled herself towards him, wrapping herself around him tightly. "God, I've missed you so much," she murmured quiely.

Sage hummed lightly at her kiss before chuckling slightly when she wrapped herself around him and buried her face into his chest. He wrapped himself around her best he could with a slight sigh. "It's been hard on all of us," he murmured softly. And it had....Mari had been working nonstop, Silas had sort of stopped asking him to play very often, since whenever he did he couldn't last long before stopping, and all he could do with Liz was sleep with her on his chest or lap. He hummed again at her next comment, feeling his own chest tighten. "No, don't cry....I'll start with you and we both know I ugly sob and neither of us want that," he half joked, sort of just tightening his hold on her a bit.

Mari kind of shook her head at his comment... she felt awful for crying, for being upset around Sage... none of this was his fault. He was going through far, far much worse than she was, and yet, she was crying. She had him right there... she was in his arms... and she was crying about it? She'd missed him. She missed him, yes, but she didn't why it was coming out now. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice strained as she tried to keep it steady. "I just..." she trailed off, kind of shaking her head before going quiet, just burying her face into her chest with a kind of sheepish chuckle type of sob.

Sage sighed slightly at her comment and just held her tighter when he felt her shoulders start to shake. "don't be," he hummed, resting his chin on her head gently. "it was hard on us all. You can be upset about it," he mused. "And you've been working so hard....you need a break," he added on with a slight shrug. "Maybe ask mom to watch the kids for a few hours and relax for a bit," he suggested softly. She did need a break....and he had to admit, a few hours to themselves sounded pretty great. "we could go on a picnic or something, down by the lake," he hummed. "Settle all your emotions down a bit."
