Mari couldn't help but feel so guilty for feeling like this... it was no one's fault, but she felt like everything was slipping away over the last two months... like things were falling apart a bit. She felt like she should be able to do everything. To look after the kids, Sage, the house, make sure they all had food and clothes and were all comfortable... she'd been working in the village every free moment they had, just trying to keep enough money to look after everything. They had their savings, of course, but they were running out quickly. She was trying to help pay for the horses, and she was worried that things would start to fall apart if she couldn't do it. They'd worked so hard to get here, and she didn't want to loose any of it. She didn't want to burden Sage like this... she was trying to be upbeat, trying to be positive for him, but it was just getting harder and harder to do. She felt like every little thing would set her off, like trying to get Silas to sleep, and when Liz would cry... she felt like those little things would just tip her over the edge, and she'd tried so hard not to let it. She'd tried so she'd not to beak down like this. She was meant to be up beat and happy. She normally was. That was the person that Sage had married, but what if she couldn't be that all the time? She hated crying infront of him like this, but right now, she just needed to. She didn't know that in one moment, she could be fine, messing around and the likes, then the next crying into her husbands arms... the husband she was meant to be supporting and bringing up. She nodded to him at his suggestion, but didn't say anything in fear that it'd make it worse. She didn't want that to happen. She didn't want to let Sage know how much this was all getting to her. But it was, and now that it has started she didn't know how to make it stop. "I'll have Anthony take them he he comes," she eventually managed, her voice quiet and wobbly. God, she wasn't like this. She was the person that everone was meant to lean on. She was meant to be Sages shoulder, for him to lean on right now, but she just... couldn't.

Sage nodded in response to her comment about Anthony taking the kids, and he sort of just held her a little bit tighter, running his hand up and down her back in what he hoped was a soothing manner. It started to really hurt his wrist after a while, so eventually he stopped, but he stayed limpeted onto the girl, his good hand running through her hair slightly. He knew she'd feel bad about needing help when he still needed a lot of help himself. But everyone had bad days....he'd had his fair share of them, and she'd always supported him. And he'd support her...he felt a bit bad that he never gave her back what she gave him, so it was nice to feel like he was supporting her and helping her. "Take a deep breath, hon," he hummed after he'd let her cry for a while. "Try to relax."

Mari sat there for a little while, just kind of... sobbing. She felt so feeble in those momentsx and she just hated it. She hated that she couldn't stop. She hated that no matter what, she couldn't seem to keep up with everything. She was falling behind, and every day was just getting harder... so maybe, a day just to relax was exactly what she needed. She nodded at his comments, drawing in a deep breath as she tried to calm herself... she'd felt so awful. Sage didn't need to see her like this, and she'd been trying hard not let that happen, but it was getting so much harder. Soon enough, though, she'd finally been able to stop the violent shaking of her shoulders, and the tears stopped shortly after. "I'm so sorry... I don't know why... I'm..." she trailed off a little, deciding she couldn't bring herself to say anything more. She just held onto him before she was sure she wouldn't shed anymore tears, eventually letting out a soft breath and pulling herself away from him so that she could sort of just... breathe.

Sage was more than happy to just...hold her, as long as she needed it. It wasn't like he could really do anything else. "It's alright," he hummed softly, pressing a kiss to her head and then letting her roll away. He still moved to wipe tears off her face though, and sighed slightly. He really hated to see her unhappy...it made him sort of feel like he wasn't doing enough. Especially now, when he was already so guilty about his ...total uselessness. He didn't need to tell her that though. She needed a moment to focus on her, and he wanted it to happen. He wanted her to feel better. "Everyone needs to cry sometimes," he hummed. "Makes you feel better."

Mari nodded quietly before shaking he head... she felt awful... she felt like she was handling things herself until thusnpoijt. She'd done well in hiding things from him. "It helped," she whispered before resting her head on the pillow and sort of closing her eyes. She hoped he knew this wasn't his fault... so much had just built up and for some reason it had to come out right then. "I think a day off would be good," she eventually murmured, her eyes falling into the wet patch that rested ih his chest. "I don't think I've ever done that before. I don't know that triggered it or... anything,"'she murmured quietly as she at started staring at the floor in a little embarrassment.

Sage nodded with a bit of a sigh when she'd said it had helped. Well, good. That meant something had come out of it. "Then ti means you needed it," he hummed, moving to pat her shoulder a bit when she admitted a day off would be good, and got all embarrased about crying. "Weren't you the one to tell me that crying was ok," he pointed out. "How many times have I ended up in the position you were just in? Or worse? No one's judging you...everyone needs a good cry now and then," he hummed. He patted her arm again gently and chuckled. "Though, I am going to go put a dry shirt on now, if you're quite done," he joked lightly, hoping to make her at least crack a smile as he moved to take his shirt off and toss it to the side, alibet the movement of which took quite a bit of effort, and by then, getting up for another one seemed like quite a lot of work, so he just looked over at the closet tiredly for a moment before huffing out a breath and flopping back down, not willing to get another shirt. It was just too much right then. Besides, the bed was warm enough for now, until the meds made him cold agin. That came in waves normally. Edited at September 9, 2023 10:29 PM by NightClan

Mari watched her husband get up, but her gaze kind of fell back to the floor after a little while. She still felt awful... he said it was alright, but it wasn't really, was it? If anything, it should be Sage breaking down, crying to her about how he was struggling... but here she was, in hysterics because she was a little bit overwhelmed. She felt so awful about it. "I'm sorry," she murmured again. She wasn't sure why. He'd just told her it was alright, but right then all she could do was apologise. It just felt wrong to be the one crying at a time like this. Especially after being so happy when she woke up. When he came back into bed, she sort of moved to wrap herself around him a little tighter. "There just been so much going on... I don't know what's wrong," she murmured to him. She didn't know exactly what was making her feel this way, but it just seemed to be... everything. She kind of ran her hand up and down his torso, tracing a few of the newer scars before closing her eyes again... she just needed a while to breathe, she supposed.

Sage looked back over at the girl when she apologized again, shaking his head slightly. He didn't say anything though....if apologizing made her feel better, then that was alright. He wrapped his arms around her again when she curled up again, and hummed lightly in response to her comment. "You're overwhelmed," he said with a slight shrug. "you need a break." He'd felt much the same way, many times. Frustrated, tired, unable to get away and breathe for a moment. "You can take a break ...you just have to ask someone," he hummed. "Your mom and Anthony want to help....they won't mind watching the kids for a bit." He stayed quiet then, giving her a moments peace. And...he could rest for a moment too, since now he was kind of tired again.

Mari nodded to him, kind of exhausted already... she didn't want to feel like this so early. She still didn't understand how a loving remark such as 'I've missed you' could tip her over the edge the way it had... but it had, and she couldn't really change that. She still felt so guilty... he didn't deserve to see her like this, when it was him that should be crying into her arms, not the other way around. She just nodded quietly and let herself lay limp on his chest for a while before finally getting her breath back to normal. "You do too much for me," she eventually murmured, but gave a soft smile, so that he knew none of this was his fault. "And I'm so thankful," she whispered to him.

Sage chuckled slightly at her comment, wrapping his arms around her snugly when she flopped against him again, absentmindedly running his fingers through her hair, resting his head on top of hers so he could breathe in her scent. "I've barely done anything," he proteseted slightly. "You've been doing all the work while I sit on my butt and fall asleep doing nothing," he sort of groaned. He smiled softly at her last comment, even though he knew she couldn't see it. "It's my job," he chuckled. "I'm supposed to be the one doing the stuff." He needed to start doing the stuff again, or they'd run out of money rather quickly. ..he knew their savings were depleting at a steady rate, and he could only hope their first foals were born and ready in enough time to add to their savings soon.
