Sage sighed slightly and nodded. "I know....I saw it all. He was definitely dead," he agreed. "He's just not dead in my head. My memories," he murmured. "With only one eye the shadows just startled me that's all," he hummed. He curled up against her again after she'd thrown the other blankets on top of them, and nodded in response to her comment. He was still cold, but it was better than before. And he didn't want to keep her up. "I'll try," he promised. "I'll be alright....you go back to sleep," he added gently after a moment.

Mari nodded to him, as understandingly as she could... what his father had done had been horrific. And she knew he still saw him in his dreams... she knew how difficult it had been for him, and she didn't want to underestimate his torture one bit, because that's was it was... torture. In the worst kind of ways. And she didn't want to blow him off if he needed her, but -god, she was so tired. "It's alright, I'll protect you from the shadows," she promised him. It was a bit silly, but it was true, too. If he needed someone to bury his head into and hide, she was happy to be that person. She thanked him quietly when he said she could sleep, and pecked his cheek gently. "Wake me if you need anything," she told him softly before turning over and shifting so her back was pressing against his stomach. She sort of pulled his hands around her and tucked them under her shirt since he was still cold... she was warm, so she was happy for him to steal some of that heat from her.

Sage hummed lightly in response to her comment, though the small couple words admittedly did make him feel much better. It was silly, he knew, but it did help just knowing she was there and supporting him. He nodded with a soft hum when she said to wake her of he needed anything....he would if he absolutely needed her, but he wanted her to sleep. He sort of just snuggled in, resting his head in the crook of her neck so he could smell her and feel her warmth on his face. His fingers pressed lightly against her skin when she moved them that way, since they were cold and she was warm. He stayed awake that way for a while, until the sun was mostly up, before he eventually drifted off again.

Mari moved to hold onto the back of his hand when he held onto her. She was wondering why he was so cold. He wasn't getting sick, was he? It would explain his mood. She hoped now, at least. Still she stayed still when his cold hand hit her skin, despite the original tensing she had to do while he warmed up. She eventually slipped back off to sleep, though, at least until later in the morning. She hoped Sage would be a bit perkier after a little bit of rest... winter most of the time brought bad moods, especially while it was getting colder and they were adjusting.

Sage had slipped off eventually, his sleep broken here and there with different dreams, but nothing as bad as before and he was able to settle down again soon after. It was around seven or eight in the morning when he finally drifted off into a deep sleep where he was actually resting. He hadn't really ever warmed up, but he wasn't shivering anymore either, so he counted it as a win. Though, once he got out of bed that was sure to change. But for now, he was resting well enough. He needed it too...he was thoroughly exhausted by then.

Mari slept well into the morning, exhausted about happy that Sage had gotten a little bit of sleep. She woke up slowly, and sort of turned over to Sage with a small smile on her face. The sun was coming through the window, so it was warming the room up a bit. It was nice. And the way it was shining on Sage made him glow a little... he still looked cold, though. She turned a little to rest s soft hand on his cheek, her thumb softly running along it. He looked so much less... worried while he was asleep. It was certainly nice to see.

Sage hadnt moved when Mari turned over, still very much deep asleep. He didn't even move when she placed her hand on his face. He'd finally gotten into a comfortable sleep, without dreams or nightmares or even just the little thing his body did where he just couldn't get into a deep enough sleep to feel rested

He probably wouldn't feel rested anyway, considering he was up all night, but whatever. He was just happy to finally be asleep.

Mari watched him rest for a short while before smiling and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. She soon curled up under the duvet again, getting as comfortable as she could be... she hated that her husband was feeling so shitty, and that there wasn't really anything she could do about it... as much as she wanted to help him, she knew it wouldn't be fixed souly by her trying. This was deeper than that, and they just had to live it out until he went back to his perkier self again.

Sage stayed that way for quite a while, before he eventually stirred and blinked his eyes open to squint at the clock, groan, bury his face in Maris chest to block the light out, and stay there. He felt like he hadn't slept at all ...and it was honestly pretty close to that. But he also didn't want to sleep all day, since then he wouldn't sleep at night and his sleep schedule would be thrown off even more than the amount the meds did, since they made him take naps through the day now. He sort of mumbled an unintelligible good morning (or something like that) to Mari, though it was honestly probably too quiet for her to really understand what he was saying. To be completely honest, even he wasn't sure what he'd said.

Mari cocked her head at the boy when he moved to her, but rested her head on his and let out a small grunt of a good morning. "Hey," she murmured quietly as she felt about the covers to find his hand, where she closed her fingers around his tightly. "Did you sleep alright?" Obviously, he'd woken up in the night, but surely he was feeling a little bit better now... she hoped so, anyway. She hoped that he'd be a bit better today. It might be good to have a day off and go see some things... or maybe they should go see the doctor. The old man loved Sage, and he called him dad so it would be a nice visit. It had been ages since they'd last been.
