Sage was already in bed, since he didn't have to pack anything. He'd tried to help earlier, but she was a bit... particular about where things went, so he'd given up pretty quickly. He rolled over to wrap his arms around her with a slight huff of air when she crawled in under the covers with him happily, snuggling in. She'd be leaving early the next morning, so he wanted to get asanu cuddles (and maybe kisses) as he possibly could tonight.

Mari gave a little smile when she felt her husbands arms around her, and melted into them happily. He'd been doing better recently, which was good... he wasn't so uptight. She did feel a bit better leaving him alone knowing nothing would happen in the immediate future. She pressed a soft kiss to his coller since her head was buried to his chest. "Hey babe," she whispered softly to the boy with a happy little hum.

Sage hummed happily in response to her comment, nestling in happily and pressing a light kiss to the top of her head. "Hey," he hummed back softly, sort of sliding down after a moment so they were face to face. "You all ready to go," he asked, sort of just to carry on a bit of conversation for a bit. Not long, she probably wanted to sleep...if she'd rather stay up and do something he was ok with that, but she probably wanted to sleep at least a little bit tonight.

Mari smiled softly to the boy and gave a bit of a nod once he'd given her a little peck. "Well, I mean... yeah, all ready," she murmured softly. She then gave a soft groan. "God, it's been years since I've spent so long away," she chuckled lightly before shaking her head. It was a little bit amusing... she hadn't left his side in so long... but she supposed it would be nice to have a bit of time to herself. And to work. She'd missed being able to actually help someone out. "I'm gonna miss you," she murmured quietly.

Sage chuckled lightly and hummed in response to her first comment, pecking her on the nose lightly when she mentioned she hadn't been away for so long in a while. "It'll be good for you," he mused happily. "you need to get away from time to time," he reminded her gently. "I'll miss you too," he admitted softly. He would miss her....a lot. More than he could even express. "but you'll be back," he said trying to get the conversation more upbeat. And well....he didn't want to worry her. It might be a little bit hard, but he'd manage. She'd be back. Edited at October 2, 2023 08:20 AM by NightClan

Mari smiled gently to the boy, and moved to press a soft kiss to his lips before curling back up. She did think it would be nice... she liked working for the doctor. She liked people, and this was work where she got to do this quite a bit. "Of course I'll be back," she mused to the boy before shaking her head lightly. It was an amusing thought... she couldn't imagine not coming back here, to their little family. Her life was here, and while it was nice to be going away a little, it was nicer to come back.

He hummed lightly and nodded, his normal goofy grin forming on his face in response to her kiss. "I know," he mused. It hadn't really ever been a thought that she wouldn't be back .... everything she loved was here. Except for maybe her mother's family...but even they were only minutes away from their little house here. He sort of just curled up against her happily with a slight yawn. "Enjoy yourself while you're gone, alright," he hummed. "We'll all be alright down here," he hummed. He was sort of comfortibg himself, not just Mari. He was just prone to thinking the worst, he supposed. Now that the thought of her not coming back had entered his head, it was hard to get rid of. But nestling in and relaxing was helpful, and soon enough he felt himself starting to drift off.

Mari nodded in agreement. She would enjoy herself... she'd worry too, of course... if the kids were alright, if Sage was eating and sleeping well enough, or if Amber was okay... but she trusted him enough to at very least look after the kids. They'd be fine. Though, she hoped to death that hed look after himself, too. She smiled softly to Sage as he drifted off, and curled into him happily too... she did hope he would be okay. She soon drifted off, though, knowing she wasn't likely to get s whole lot of sleep the first few nights back in the castle.

Sage had slept rather well until maybe around one in the morning, when he woke up startled, glancing around wildly for a moment before he realized Mari was right next to him asleep, just like she always was. He reached over to fold her hair behind her ear gently, just to prove to himself she was there and not more dream. He let out a quiet sigh after that, and tried to settle down again, though he really couldn't, so he eventually just got up and wandered down to the kitchen to grab some tea and a blanket and curl up on the couch. Mari would have to sleep....he didn't want to wake her. Besides, his mind was still curling around and around a million miles an hour. He just couldn't sit still....so if he stayed in the bedroom he'd definitely wake Mari. Even sitting here tired his leg was bouncing and everything. Well, it was bouncing faster than normal. Which was rather hard, since he always had something moving.

Mari awoke from her sleep at about six the next day, determined to get going. She got up and dressed fairly quickly before looking at the bed and realising Sage wasn't there... he was normally the last up, so it was a bit strange he was awake so early. She wandered down stairs before looking at the boy on the couch, seemingly unable to keep himself still. She wandered over quiely and slipped her arms around his shoulder ina kind of hum. "Are you alright?" She asked hun softly after a little while, going to press a gentle kiss just behind his ear.
