Mari darted around happily, though her favourite bit had turned into going to get lunch and dinner for the doctor. Just sitting and chatting was nice. Admittedly, she'd been getting a little bit worried about the whole rebellion thing now... it was scary that the guards would wander in and out the wards, around the rooms and making sure that everyone was safe and happy. She'd seen people lining the walls, though... villagers, people she seemed to see on a daily basis. It wasn't until late at night she'd heard the banging, though. People shouting and yelling. She slept through it... for the first while, anyway.

Eventually, sage had to bring all the horses in and then usher the kids into the house so he could make dinner and get them their food. He took a few bites himself, though between making dinner, caring for both kids, and then settling them down, he didn't really get to eat much. And once they were in bed, he didn't have the energy to finish and honestly just went upstairs and crashed as soon as he wrapped himself up in blankets.

Mari slept through about ten minutes of the noise, until she heard the doctor run through the door, and started shaking her hurriedly to wake up. She groaned after a few seconds and blinked at him eerily as he explained what was happening. She was confused for a little while before eventually came around and jumped out of bed, following him towards the ward, though as soon as she turned a corner she was grabbed by some larger looking men... they were rugged, and had a gun to her head, warning the man that if he took one step closer he'd blow her head off... she shooed the doctor off to the ward, saying that she'd be fine... she wouldn't, she knew that just fine. But what confused her more, was that the princess had ran past her, and yet they didn't try and grab the other girl... surely a royal would be more important? Or were they just trying to cause the castle a little bit of trouble, rather than taking down the thrown? She didn't know, but she soon blacked out as she back of the gun was hit to her temple before the men could even take a step away. She didn't wake up until she was stuck on the back of a cart, just outside the castle. There was still running, still... but soon enough they were moving, still to dazy to realise what exactly had happened... her legs were tied, and her arms were free... not that she could feel much other than the awful banging in her head.

Sage hadn't really been aware of what was happening, though when some kind of carriage ran through the streets ringing a bell, he woke with a start and practically sprinted to open the window so he could see what was going on.Sure enough, there were people running and screaming about some kind of rebellion and the castle and a bunch of other stuff. He didn't stay very long..just long enough to get the gist of it and then moved the grab his dagger and plant himself between the kids's rooms in case anything happened. He hoped Mari was alright...her and the doctor. And of course Anya and Att. His stomach rolled and if he'd had anything in his stomach he probably would have thrown up right there in the hallway. He stayed there like that for hours, even after the sun had come up and everything had quieted down. It was only around nine or so that he heard Silas crawling out of bed, so he got up stifly to hide the dagger and put an alright sort of face on for the boy, greeting him and scooping him up to get his breakfast ready.

Mari sat in the back of the cart for a few moments, wondering why on earth these idiots had left her hands untied. She sort of pulled herself up, spinning, though by then she'd ended up in the middle of nowhere. In a field, going away from the village and towards a thick looking woodlands. She could untie herself... once she knew what she was going to do. Once they were in the woods, and had been travelling for over an hour, she finally managed to get herself to come around better. She didn't know what they wanted, maybe information? She didn't have any. She didn't know much. They didn't seem to care if she got away, so after a moment, she carefully untied herself, trying not to make a sound... not to weep if groan in pain. Though, when she finally got the right knot off her legs, she moved to jump off the waggon. The men and the woman in the front started shouting as her feet hit the floor, and she tried to run, but not before she heard a sharp bang in her ears, and a awful sting in her side.... she still heard shouting, but after a while it died off, and she felt herself move, but she couldn't see. She wasn't walking, not while she felt her body cool. She soon felt the warmth, though, and the smell of a hot chicken soup fill her nose as she slowly came around again. It had been a few days... jt had to have been.

Sage tried to just focus on taking care on Silas, though he didn't like to leave Lizzie asleep in the other room. So, he really was quite relieved when she started to cry. He hurried to bring her back onto the kitchen and settle her down, trying to get her to eat some solid food before he gave her the bottle if she was still hungry after. He didn't settle down though...getting no news was driving him crazy. He kept glancing out the windows, unsure of what was going on or who was ok and who wasn't. His mind was swarming with all of the possibilities....the worst ones. He did wish his mind didn't work that way. It stayed that way for almost a week....he hadn't eaten, hadn't slept much, and he had most definitely lost weight. Even Silas and Lizzie had gotten sort of crabby, since they could probably see he wasn't too great off. Or sense something...the horses certainly did. (If you want to be someone from the castle to tell sage and Edith/Anthony and maybe have Edith come to the house you can lol) Edited at October 3, 2023 03:08 PM by NightClan

(I was thinking it'd be nice to have the doctor go over? I know it'd be a bit awkward having to essentially play that yourself, but I can have Anthony there too? Just as a buffer, maybe? Lol) Mari sat quietly for a while, her eyes shut as she tidied to figure what had happened. With any luck, she was back in the ward, and this had all been a strange nightmare. Though, the pain that jabbed her in the side after a few minutes completely demolished that. The strange voices from not far kind of got to her too... she was pretty worried, to say the least. They noticed her coming around though, and soon the soft pitter patter of feet came over to her, and she felt a warm wind followed by a stronger scent of the soup closer to her. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she strangely didn't feel so scared... it worried, yes, but not in the pure state of terror she'd been in days before.

(that would work lol. I don't mind if you take the doctor over for a bit too. Up to you) Sage had gone about his days in a sort of strange frenzy. Maybe it was foolish to hope that she was alright....if people were hurt in the rebellion no doubt Mari would want to stay and help ...but she'd have let him know she was alright. She knew he'd be absolutely frantic about it otherwise. His gut told him the girl wasn't ok....and his brain made everything worse. He hadn't gotten any news either way, so he kept looking outside, or to the door, or stood on their porch staring at the road in the morning and through most of the night, hoping she'd come walking back in and into their lives. It hadn't happened yet though....and he wasn't so sure it would. He was there now, but soon enough sitting there just swamped his brain with too many awful thoughts, so he decided to just resweep the thing. Again. His hands were covered in blisters, but what else was he supposed to do?

(I'm happy to do the doctor!) Mari sat quietly, fully aware of what was going on around her, but still not daring to open her eyes... well, she'd have to at some point, right? She felt safe, even though she wasn't sure what was going on around her, which was certainly a bit strange. So, after a few moments of the light voice next to her telling her she was safe, she sort of opened her eyes... looking around calmly before looking over at a slightly older looking woman, who had a younger man stood to her side. "You're alright, Dear," she promised, though with held the mug from her, probably knowing she would accept a drink from a stranger at that time. "We found you in the woods. You were in quite the state," she added carefully. "All patched up now," she reassured with a little smile. It had been a week or so, now, and the Doctor had taken it upon himself to tell Sage what had gone down in the castle. He was his son, after all... and it was his job to deliver this sorts of news regardless. They didn't know what exactly had happened, but he didn't have a good feeling... and if Mari had been fine, sould have found herself back by now. The knock on the head she had would have been enough to kill someone if hit in the right place... but he wasn't in a position to help her much. Not when she was dragged off. And he'd seen her carted off, and she seemed pretty lifeless... he didn't want to tell him that, though. There was a chance she might be wandering around. And even if it was a small chance, there was a small bit of hope, too. That was what he was telling himself as he wandered towards the couples little cottage.

(okie dokie, we can do that then. It'll be easiest I think lol) Sage had been cleaning the porch for who knew how long when he heard footsteps on the gravel path leading up to the porch. He glanced over and squinted to see who it was, immediately tensing up and then relaxing slightly when he saw it was just the old man. He had to admit, he really was glad to see him....armies knew not to hurt medics, but if it was a rebellion, the townspeople may not care about castle rules. They could target him...no doctor, no healing, less troops, more chaos. That's certainly how his brain would think it would work. He'd do that if he was rebelling. But no...the guy was alright, which did ease some of the tension in his shoulders. But...Mari wasn't with him, so the sight of his father really didn't help much. It was certainly a small relief though. "Hey," he called over somewhat cautiously as he moved to keep sweeping. "What brings you down here," he added, trying to keep his voice steady.
