Mari just held onto him, her body sort of shaking as she tried to stop her sobs. They weren't sad... more relieved. Happy to be home, and to fall into the familiar embrace of Sage. She missed him so much... she was so worried she wouldn't actually get to see him again. Ever get to hold him... and Silas, too. Though, he didn't seem to know any difference. She didn't know what to say, or how to say it. She tried to push some words out, though wasn't quite able to make sense of it. She held him tighter just sort of sobbing. She wanted to tell him... she wanted to apologise over and over, she hadn't wanted to scare him. They thought she was dead? Why...? She supposed it could have been assumed. She couldn't explain it right now... she just needed a moment to breathe.

He saw her try to talk then just bury her face in him again, so he just moved to wrap his arms tightly around her again. She obviously needed a minute....and that was ok. He wanted to know what had happened, but he knew better than most that talking may not come right away. But that was alright. She didn't seem like she was in any immediate danger...in fact other than the obvious injury and tear stained face, she seemed healthier than he was. He did make a point to move his head slightly so she couldn't tell he had a fever.. he didn't want her to worry or try to help him. She needed to just rest. To be at home with them. And that was fine with him. After a while of that, he sort of gently moved her over to the couch, where they could sit down and hold eachother. He just didn't want to collapse on her from standing on the kitchen floor for so long, and he wasn't sure how long she'd last either of the was hurt. Silas had stayed to finish eating, since he was hungry he said...that was alright. It would give him and Mari some time to calm down and try to understand what had happened. He had no idea how she's suddenly just appeared in their little house....but he was certainly so very, very glad that she had. He'd missed her more than anything.

The girl just sort of sat with him when they made it to the couch, eventually the tears stopping and just becoming soft sobs as she calmed herself down... maybe she was crying because a while there, she actually thought she'd never see them again. She might not have, either, if it wasn't for Elizabeth and Ned. She was just so grateful she was wrapped up in him now. "I'm sorry," she whispered after a while, her voice hoarse but managing the best she could. "I didn't want to scare you, I... just..." she trailed off again before kind of shaking her head and burying her face into his neck, seeking out any warmth he gave her... which, surprisingly, was quite a lot.

Sage sort of just shook his head in response to her comment, chest aching from the sobs. He drew a blanket around them though, holding her tightly against him. "Shhh," he hummed lightly. "It's alright...you're alright," he sighed slightly. That really was all he cared about. She was home, and in one piece, and ok. She was hurt, yes, but she would be ok. "I'm not going anywhere," he reassured her gently. He wasn't either... Now that she was here he was going to stay here with her. Anthony would take care of the horses. That thought sent his heart racing again. Anthony and Edith and Xander.....they still didn't know she was alive. Well, he'd tell them alter....right now Mari needed to calm down.

Mari closed her eyes after a bit, biting her lip to stop any noise coming out. She felt awful. He thought she was dead? Really? No wonder he'd looked like he'd seen a ghost. He'd been upset too... and she hated to see him like this. She hated to see him so worried, and yet he was comforting her. She'd been lucky... she had people willing to help a complete stranger, and things could have gone south, but they hadn't... and she was lucky for that. So, so lucky. She nodded at his words, and eventually settled down, just sitting there quietly. They sat there for a good ten minutes until she'd sorted her breathing out, then looked over at him, her face still red and puffy, but a little bit better. "Are you okay," she whispered after a soft while. If he thought she hadn't noticed the weight he'd lost, or how pale be was... well, that was really, really wrong.

Sage was more than happy to just sit with her and run his hands through her hair gently until she'd calmed down a little bit. He hummed lightly in response to her question and nodded, moving to tug her in a bit tighter. "I am now," he hummed. And he was....she was home, and he was just so relieved. He was just so glad to see her here...and actually see her, not just a figment of his imagination. To be able to hold her and comfort her. To know that their kids would never grow up with just him. It was all just nice to be able to know she was home and safe, and that they'd be alright.

Mari nodded quietly, sort of letting him tug her in. She wasn't able to hold him at tight at she wanted to, not for long. She wanted to be as close to him, but she wasn't great at it... not now. It seemed that any strength she had just diminished right then. Dials had padded up to his room by then, sensing that they maybe just needed quiet. She was scared that he came and cuddled up now she'd start crying all over again. She'd missed her babies, so, so much. She missed Sage, too... she was just thankful to be in her home again, mostly alright. He held her a bit tighter, and sort of squeaked when his arm hit the wound on her side. She had a fairly substantial bruise on her temple, too, which wasn't hard to miss.

Sage sort of drew back slightly when she squeaked and frowned moving to rest his arm somewhere else after glancing down at her side in an admittedly rather concerned manner. "What happened," he asked, shaking his head slightly. "The doctor said he saw you hit and carried off, and then there was months with no word about you so we all figured...." He sort of trailed off with a shrug after that, not really able to vocalize that they'd thought she'd been killed. He sort of cleared his throat, attempting to console himself and calm his emotions a bit.

Mari sort of shrugged at his question, still looking down but rested herself against him in a way that was more comfortable. She kind of thought over the last few weeks, which were actually more like months at this point. "Well... in the castle..." she trailed off a bit before shaking her head, realising that was probably the bit he'd been told. She pouted before shrugging. "I suppose you know that bit, then," she kind of murmured. "I managed to get myself free, they'd tied me up... not very well, thankfully. They'd taken me south somewhere. I don't know what they'd wanted, but they didn't get to wherever their destination was," she sort of closed her eyes and drew a breath in. "I tried to run away, but it was right after I'd been hit and obviously wasn't getting very far. Before I'd known it, I'd been shot," she looked up at him carefully, studying his features quietly. "A nice little family found me in the woods. They looked after me... but they weren't very keen on me leaving until I could actually walk in a straight line. Which was smart, I guess, since it was a few hours back on foot but..." she just wanted to be back here. And if she'd known the amount of worry she'd caused, she would have crawled back, but she also knew that would have caused her more trouble than solutions. "I'm sorry for worrying you," she whispered again.

Sage nodded slowly, listening to her story and frowning slightly. Though at her apology, he shook his head quickly, moving to press a light kiss to her temple. "It wasn't your fault. You were hours away....there wasn't anything anyone here could do," he hummed. Then he frowned again. "They just hit you? They didn't....nothing else?" Using the word 'just' seemed a bit crude ....but they could have done worse things to her, which many people out there would actually do. And he certainly didn't want that for her. He knew what it was like, and he desperately wished she'd shake her head no. He was thankful for whoever found her... But right then he was just worried.
