Sage sort of picked at dinner for a while, while Silas and Mari ate too, before helping Silas up and over to take his bath and then tuck him in happily. Once he was sure the boy was settled, he slipped out and quietly wandered back into the kitchen, moving to help Mari wash the pile of dishes that still needed to be cleaned. It would give Silas some time to fall asleep, at least. Both of the kids had inherited Maris deeper sleep, which was sort of nice, since his light sleep was really annoying sometimes. Soon enough they were done though, and he pecked the side of her head before moving to wipe down the table and then follow her to where they'd hidden all the presents. He scooped up a bunch of them, and slid Maris presents into the mix too. It wasn't much....they hadn't had much money, but he'd still managed to get her some nice things he supposed. Some jewelry he knew she'd like, and a small sketchbook full of drawings of just...them. their family. From when they'd first met, with all of their good memories up through now. Sketches of the kids being born, their one year birthdays, fist words, things like that. And there was room for plenty more....he'd add to it as things happened. Sort of like a scrapbook for their family. There were some other bits and bobs too, but those were the main things.

The girl gave him a light smile when he started to help out... she had to admit she was very excited about all of this. She'd always wanted children, and she was finally starting to give them the childhood she'd always wanted to. She grabbed as many of the gifts as she could and started to place them around the room accordingly around the tree in small piles. There wasn't much, but the kids had a few things each, and she'd gotten Sage somethings that was 'from' the kids. It was all very cute, though. Soon enough, though, it was all finished.. it all looked perfect, and they'd put a few extra things together around the place to make it look extra cozy.

Sage had sort of gone a long with how Mari was arranging the presents for a while, before helping make the whole scene just all together very comfortable alongside her. Once that was done though, he flopped onto the couch tiredly and gave her a grin. It was a bit tired, but he felt good, better than he quote honestly had in a while. And he was definitely excited for the next day....he couldn't wait to build a fire and just relax with the family. It would certainly be very nice. And Mari was all healed up now, so he was admittedly hoping for a bit of fun just the two of them too, with the kids going to bed early and all. It was just the mood of the house now, he supposed, and he was certainly glad to have it that way. "done," he hummed happily once he flopped down, sort of sprawling on his back over the cushions.

Mari looked over at him when he flopped down on the couch, kind of looking around the room happily. "Finally done," she chirped to him after a little while. "It looks good... they're gonna love it," she chirped to him happily. She flopped down on the floor next to the couch with a heavy sigh and gently rested her head on his torso as she looked over at him, her arms softly flopped over his side. "I'm just glad I got to be here with enough time to help out with it all..." she hummed happily before taking his hand in her softly.

Sage hummed in agreement to her first comment, sort of shifting so he could pay the top of her head softly before letting it rest on his abdomen. He nodded in repsonse to her next comment, a sleepy smile taking over his face. "They'll be so happy," he hummed in agreement. He squeezed her hand gently when she took it and hummed in agreement. "If you weren't here, it certainly wouldn't be this happy," he mused. "But you're here, and you're looking pretty damn sexy," he hummed happily, voice slightly mischievous

The girl nodded an agreement before sort of turning her head into his stomach at his last comments, her face getting redder by the moment. It had been a while since they'd done anything... but they'd been sick, or Sage had been sick and she's been injured... and all Sages little wounds had finally cleared up too, meaning that he didn't feel so bad now. Just a few more scars, though she still never learned how he'd gotten them, exactly, but it didn't matter too much. She sort of just gave a small smile before hiding again. "Shh," she told him with a bit of an amused chuckle.

He couldn't help but snicker in response to her reaction to his comment, patting her head again. "What," he asked, still definitely amused. "I can't dote on my beautiful wife?" He was really just teasing her, though if something started he certainly wouldn't be upset about that. It had been a very long time since they'd been able to do anything like this. But he supposed just laying here together wasn't too bad either. (Bit short I gotta run xD) Edited at October 26, 2023 09:56 AM by NightClan

Mari gave a small groan at his comment before shaking her head. "Nope," she mused lightly to him. "Not allowed to dote on me," she hummed quietly before turning her head to face him, her smile light and bright. She was just relaxed, she supposed, and it was nice, especially mixed by the fact she was a little bit tired. She sort of moved to rest her head on her hands with a light smile. "You're meant to be exhausted after the day you've had," she mused happily.

He chuckled lightly at her comment and shook his head in amusement. "Well too bad," he chirped, grinning down at her. He felt his grin widen in response to her other comments, and nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, I'm exhausted," he laughed. "I haven't been this tired in a while." He shrugged slightly with a chuckle. "But I still have energy. Maybe I'm just overly tired," he half joked lightly. He sort of shifted over so Mari could settle on the couch too, sort of just resting his head on hers once she'd gotten herself settled again and let out a soft sigh. It would be lizz's first Christmas, and their first Christmas all four of them. It was certainly nice to think about. And it was definitely cozy here.

Mari gave a small chuckle to him before shrugging and sort of moving to curl up next to him. "You look exhausted. I mean, you're not acting it but you look it," she laughed softly to him. "You have just been running around all day. You're allowed to be tired," she mused gently to him before pressing a soft peck to his cheeks. She was excited for sure... this would be their first proper Christmas, and she was just glad that she hadn't missed it.... she'd definitely been on track to do so. "Come on, let's get you showered and to bed... you need a decent nights sleep," she mused to him lightly.
