Ellie stamped her feet as she got through her door, trying to get the blood flowing back through them. She swiftly went to boil the kettle, grabbing some of her usual pot noodles and pouring in the boiling water before going to sit down next to the window. She felt her stomach tie in a knot, worried about her last interactions with Sam. He had been so frigid, cold. She couldn't help but think she had done something wrong, something to upset him. Though, she hadn't even said very much, not at all. They had worked hard to become friends, so she thought she knew him well enough to know what would have made him uncomfortable.

Ellie reluctantly finished her food before binning the pot and getting ready for bed. The cold had seemed to have taken it out of Ellie, so as soon as her head hit the pillow she fell into a deep slumber.

Sam awoke to Ellie licking his face and talling him she wanted to go outside to do her business. Groggily, he got up, wrapping a blanket around himself as he opened the door for her. He yawned, shovelling down some oatmeal and getting dressed. Sam trudged outside, his footsteps making crackling noises on the hard, frosty grass. When he got to the barn, he fed Nero, patting him on the neck. He wondered around sleepily, doing his yard chores. It had been a while until he noticed he was feeling unusually hot and when he put his hand to his forehead, it felt way warmer than it should be on such a cold day. In the tackroom, he noticed he looked particularly pale, his skin having an almost yellowish tint. Sitting down on a chair, without noticing, he fell asleep again, his dreams interrupted with crazy characters and screams.

The sleeping Ellie was abruptly awoken as the sun peered through her frosty window and directly into her face. She found herself forcing herself out of bed and getting dressed before getting a slice of toast. She lumbered lazily towards the yard and to her horses' stables tying up the haynets she had prepared the night before in each one. She swiftly mucked them out before heading towards the tack room, to pick up Astra's saddle with the intent to go out on an easy hack when she noticed someone sitting in the corner. She jumped a little bit before realizing it was just Sam. She chuckled softly before finally speaking up. "Morning," She said lightly, picking up her bridle. When she got no reply, Ellie walked over only to find he was slumbering, and he looked Ill. "Sam?" She asked quietly as she placed the back of her hand on his forehead gently. She looked rather concerned as got down on her knees so that she was at his level. "Sam, wake up." She said, her voice slightly firmer as she placed her hand on his shoulder and shook him gently until he had finally awoken. "You don't look so good." She stated, her voice soft as though she were trying not to upset him.

Sam awoke, his vision of Ellie's concerned face fuzzy and blurred. He heard her calling out to him, but it was as if she was shouting from the other side of the field. with effort, he managed to say "i- i dont feel so good" before his vision blacked out and he slumped in the chair.

(sorry so short, and also sorry for the dramatic posts, i felt like adding spice lol)

(No problem, I'm going a little overboard as well. Spice is always good o-o)

Ellie felt her heart jump into her throat as Sam gurgled out a few words and blacked out. Oh shit. She thought as she jumped up and out of the tack room. All she could think to do was get Sam into bed and there was no way she was going to do that alone. Aaron was skipping out the school horses as she ran in, looking rather freaked out. "What is it?" The boy asked before Ellie managed to spit out a word. She took a quiet breath, calming herself. "It's Sam! I don't- he's not well." She breathed out as she beckoned Aaron to follow her as she rushed back towards the tack room. "Help me," Ellie ordered as she wrapped one of Sam's arms around her shoulders. Aaron nodded quietly and did the same, making their way towards Sam's little cottage where they sat him in his bed. "What happened?" Aaron asked quietly. "I haven't a clue," Ellie replied, "Will you go call someone? A doctor or something? I'll stay here and sort him the best I can." Ellie asked to what Aaron nodded and left the room. Ellie sighed and left, going to get a cool cloth and something for Sam to drink when he awoke.

Sam awoke sweating, but two minutes later he was icy cold. He lay there shivering for a little while. He was trying to move properly but he found it just took so much energy. His body was suddenly so hot it felt as if his insides were on fire. This was when Ellie came back in to the room bearing a glass of water. It was exactly what he needed. He moved his hand to Ellie, Touching her gently and using his eyes to gesture to the glass she was holding.

Once he had drank, he managed to utter a feeble "thank you" to her.

He wasnt sure what was going on, as he hardly ever got sick, and had a strong immune system. He sighed once more as he fell back into the sheets and fell asleep.

Ellie offered a worrysome smile to Sam, going to sit in a chair not too far from his bed. Her smile vanished as soon as she saw him close his eyes again. She hadn't a clue what to do. Still, she found herself sat at his side. She would have felt wrong to leave his side, although she wouldn't be any help at all. She convinced herself that if Sam was asleep, he wouldn't feel so bad.
Ellie checked his tempreture quietly, still feeling a fever. She picked up the cool, damp clothe she brought in and placed it on his forehead gently before sitting back in her chair. "Don't worry, someone who knows what they're doing should be here soon." She whispered quietly to reassure both herself and the slimbering Sam.
