Mari smiled softly to the boy when he moved, and started to carefully massage the bits of his back that she knew were more tender. It all seemed to peaceful right then. She could hear the kids giggling quietly in another room, and she could hear a light wind on the windows... it was getting dark early now, so there was a nice orange light in the room from the fire. It was peaceful, and she couldn't help but grin when she thought about it all.

Sage was more than content to just lay there while she ran her hands around his back. It was certainly nice, to just lay there with her, with the kids there and happy. The fire brought a certain feeling to the living room too, so he closed his eyes for a while, just glad to....be. to listen. He really was thankful for everything he had....and it really wouldn't be possible without Mari. The kids definitely, but even the house and how happy he was was largely because of her. He'd probably still be living in the doctors ward, if he was living at all still otherwise.

Mari smiled softly to him as he layed there, sort of gently working his back and carefully avoiding any really sore parts till the end. "Sage," she hummed softly to him after a little bit. "You're so good," she mused to him after a little while, and sort of moved to peck the back of his head. "I'm so lucky to have you," she added after a little while, and gave him a bit of a smile.

Sage sort of hummed lightly when she said his name, since he'd admittedly sort of half fallen asleep laying there. Though, at the rest of her comment he chuckled lightly and smiled, patting her leg gently. "you're pretty good yourself," he mused in an admittedly sleepy voice. Though, it was definitely a fond time that probably only shine through since it was tired. "You could've found a better guy but you still chose the hardheaded mess," he noted with a chuckle, shaking his head slightly. "Can't say I'm upset about that though," he added with a slight laugh, though let out a heavy breath when she started on a rather sore spot and settled down again. Though, he hadn't really ever opened his eyes....he was still laying on her lap. But she didn't seem to mind at all, so he was staying right where he was at.

Mari smiled softly to the boy after a moment and gave a small chuckle, though quiet as he seems to be falling asleep. "I suppose. Though, baby boy you hand loads girls lining up for you," she teased him softly. "And down here there's not that many guys that are better than you... you may struggle sometimes, but you're good. Not many people here are actually good people," she murmured softly to him after a few moments, and went to run a few lighter fingers around his back.

Sage chuckled softly in response to her comment. "Yeah, and they were all drunk," he noted with amusement. "And they weren't exactly the type to settle down with a family. They were perfectly happy for a one night stand," he snorted. Then he shrugged. "well I think that's yours and Anya's fault," he mused. "If you two hadn't ship shaped me up I'd probably be in there with the worst of them still." Then he gave her a tired grin. "I'll take the compliments though," he chuckled, sort of shifting into a more comfortable position before settling down again and letting his eyes close again. He wasn't sure why he was so tired...maybe it was just the full day, or maybe it was last night. Either way, he definitely found himself drifting off in Maris lap. Shed tease later, he was sure, but whatever.

Mari sort of chuckled at him after a moment or two before shrugging softly. "Well, I'm just happy I got to have a little family with you," she mused to him. "And we get more than just one one night stand," she chuckled, sort of shaking her head after a moment or two. She sort of furrowed her brows after a moment or two and shrugged softly. "Well, you can still be a good person in a bunch of bad people," she chuckled to him gently. He soon seemed to drift off, and smiled gently at the sight, still rubbing her hand up and down his back as she watched his features relax.

Sage hummed in agreement to her first comments before shrugging slightly and sort of humming "not if you want to survive out there," in a half asleep sort of voice. And, for him, that was questionable...he hadn't wanted to survive for a while. And was he even really surviving, the way he was living? Certainly a lot of people would have called him a bad person for fighting and the tavern work and everything. But that was all in the past, so he didn't really want to think about it. Especially not while he was falling asleep. That was like inviting the nightmares in to play. Though, when he drifted off it was a rather nice sleep. Light, but it felt nice all the same. Mari was warm and cozy, and her hands felt nice. And...well, he was just very happy.

Mari shook her head at him after a moment or two before shaking her head. "Well, you're alive aren't you? You have a family of your own now, and people who care for you... if you weren't nice or good or... anything, then you wouldn't have that," she mused. "And I certainly wouldn't have any children with you if you weren't absolutely perfect," she hummed to him lightly. She watched him rest after a little bit... and all she could do was grin. He was so peaceful... so calm. She couldn't help but be so completely and utterly head over hells with him, especially when he was like this.

Sage dimly heard her last comments, and he sort of hummed lightly in response, just trying to get something out before he passed out. He was more than happy to lay there for a while though. Of course, he stirred and woke up soon enough, since it wasn't time to actually go to bed yet, so he did have to get up. He gave mari a tired grin and rolled over so he could rest his head on her leg, figuring he wouldn't ask anything more of her. Who knew how long she'd been rubbing his back. "No wonder you can get Silas to sleep better than I can," he sort of chuckled, still half asleep but very much comfortable and content.
