Mari furrowed ber brows at him, placing a soft hand on his cheek when he said he was alright. She didn't believe it. She wouldn't have been alright. The whole thing was scary. "It shouldn't have happened at all," she murmured gently, going to rub his back again. She still hated that he was scared to talk to her... but he'd done it now. She was glad he had, too. She swallowed a small lump in her throat. He probably needed a steady voice to hang onto... and she could be that if he needed it.

Sage sort of huffed out a light breath, then took another deep one, sort of calming down a bit by then. "I know," he said quietly. "But it's not like it hasn't happened before. I should be used to it," he huffed. Then he wrinkled his nose. "I guess it was just different, since I'm married," he thought out loud after a moment. He sort of moved to pull his hair back by then, redoing it into his normal messy bun sort of thing with another deep breath. He did feel a lot better....he wouldn't be perfect, not right away, but he had a lot of his shoulders just...telling her. The doctor had come back in by then, carrying a small bag of stuff, which he started to hand to sage, then reconsidered and handed it to Mari, muttering "I know she'll make you take these," which earned a slight chuckle from sage. "There's some medicines, just in case, and something to help you sleep better," he informed him before another patient started calling out. He gave sage a quick hug before jogging away.

Mark sighed softly and buried her Nose into his hair. "It's not something you get used to hun," she whispered, going to wrap her arms softly around his sides again. "And because you're married you should be able to feel safe talking to me," she murmured softly. It shouldn't have gotten as bad as it had. She felt awful that she'd gotten so angry at this whole thing. When the doctor came in, she sort of took everything he gave her and put it on the side carefully. She thanked the old man before going to give Sage a bit of a squeeze. "Do you want to just get some rest," she asked him softly.

Sage sort of hummed in response to her comment, not really agreeing with her but also sort of just hoping she was right. "I wanted to....I just didn't know how," he whispered in response to her second comment. It was more guilt than anything, mixed with all the emotions of something like this happening. He sort of just nodded and thanked the doctor, though by then the old man had run off, causing a slight chuckle to come from sage. "I don't know how he still manages to do that," he admitted fondly. "The man's a living fossil." Though, at her comment about rest, he sort of just nodded tiredly. "What meds did he give me for that anyway," he asked, reaching over to grab the bag and peer inside it. He'd taken it and fallen asleep soon enough though, and it did feel quite nice to sleep without any dreams, and even better than he was resting in Maris lap and didn't feel completely awful about it all.

Mari moved to pull a blanket over her husband after a moment and gave a small sigh. "Well we know now," she murmured softly, gently trailing her fingers up his back ever so softly. She looked over at the doctor as he left and gave a small laugh. "That man is going to live forever," she hummed gently to him. "Genuinely. He's never going to die," she chuckled, picking up one of the packets from the bag. "To help with the bruising and any sorenesss. The rest are sleeping pill," she hummed gently. Though, now he was just sort of drifting off. She smiled softly and moved to give him a reassuring pat, more than happy to let him rest.

Sage sort of just have her a tired grin before curling up and letting himself succumb to the meds and pass out, letting his head rest on her lap lightly. It was definitely nice to just rest with her, when he didn't feel quite so guilty. The feeling didn't completely disappear, but at least it wasn't prevalent enough to affect their cuddles. He'd forgotten how much he'd missed them. He was just glad that she knew, he supposed....he'd been scared, but the doctor knew how to handle the situation, and he'd done it well. And everything would work out alright. At least he hoped so. He'd worry about that when he woke up...which would probably be in a while. He was exhausted.

Mari let out a soft breath when she noticed him starting to settle down, and gave a little smile as she relaxed into their little hug. She rested his cheek on his head, getting a little bit more comfortable. She couldn't sleep, though. She felt awful for being able to sleep so soundly while he was struggling, so instead moved to her a bit more comfortable next to him. (short, I'm busy!)

(All good lol) Sage had sort of absentmindedly curled up with her before he'd fallen asleep, though now he'd subconsciously buried himself into her, as he pretty well normally did. It didn't seem like he'd slept for too long, but when he stirred again it was almost eight the next morning. He sort of just groaned and buried his face in Maris chest though, still groggy and not at all willing to move. They didn't have the kids, so he was going to take advantage of that and stay in bed for a good long while.

Mari didn't really manage to sleep. She still felt just awful for Sage... he worked so hard for their little family, he did some much, and he was such a good person that she couldn't ever imagine him being used in such a way. Eventually, she felt him shift to bury his face into her, and she gave a small smile before resting a hand in his hair. "What are you hiding from babe," she teased lightly before sitting back a little bit and resting her head just on his. She didn't really know how to talk to him... she did, but she seemed to be thinking a lot too.

Sage sort of just huffed out a breath in response to her tease. "The sun," he grumbled, sorry of sliding down into the covers a bit more, but kept his face firmly in her chest. "I'm not getting up unless I absolutely have to," he declared. Though, it was a very sleepy declaration. She hadn't made a move to get up either, so it was really all very nice. He had missed her... It was strange how he was sleeping with her and still missing her so much. Well, he didn't miss her now, but whatever. He was just glad everything had worked out. Maybe they could get back to normal now. (I was thinking.... What if one of those women show up with a kid at some point and just hands it off and leave lol?)
