Mari just sort of looked from the baby then looked back to Sage who was sliding down the wall. She just sort of paused for a moment, not at all sure what to do. She just sort of sighed and moved to wrap the baby up in the cloth it had, then rushed the kids upstairs to play before coming back downstairs to try and figure what else was happening. The woman from the market? That could mean anything. She was just so confused. She rushed over to Sage, though, and moved to place her hands softly on his arms. "Sage, hunny, deep breaths, okay?" She murmured softly to him, desperately worried about the child who was slowly starting to weep on the couch, but also so worried about him.

Sage hadn't really noticed much of what happened next...he was dimly aware of the kids bouncing upstairs, but the room was spinning and he half lept out of his skin when he felt mari's hands on his arms. He calmed down enough to realize it was her once she started talking, though, and sort of just nodded with a sort of frantic wheeze. He was trying...it wasn't working all that well though, and he wasn't exactly sure what to do. Though, when he heard the baby start to cry, he craned his head over Mari to try and look back at it. It was still his child after all, and even if he was sort of freaking out, he was aware that the child was probably starving and just as confused and scared as he was. "Mari, the baby," he said faintly, trying to get a grasp on reality.

Mari nodded softly to him before sort of furrowing her brows. "I know. I know, but Sage I can't sort the baby out if you're struggling to breathe too," she murmured to him before giving a small sigh. "Sort yourself out, hm?" She murmured gently to him before going to scoop the child up and trying to find something for them. She eventually found some warmer clothes that used to be Silas's, and then tried to find something for the kid to eat... some milk or anything. But the kid was so young... barely a few days old. And tiny, and clearly starving. So while Sage was struggling to control his breathing, she was filling an old bottle with milk and desperately trying to get the little thing to latch on.

Sage sort of just grunted in response to her comment, nodding and closing his eyes, leaning his head back on the door in an attempt to calm down. He nodded in response to her comment, taking a few minutes to calm himself down a bit before looking over at Mari, who was clearly trying to get the baby to eat something. Well...drink, he supposed. It was still really young....smaller than SIlas, even, when the boy was born. "Is it alright," he asked, not knowing whether it was a girl or boy but trying to be polite. After all...the baby hadn't done anything to him. And it had obviously been hurt by the woman who'd hurt him. So really he couldn't help but be worried about it, even while all the more negative emotions were surfacing too.

Mari looked over at Sage, gently bouncing the kid around. She wasn't too sure of the kids gender, but they'd find out soon enough. She sort of shrugged before going to sit down once the little thing was settled. "It will be," she murmured softly, just sort of staring at the kid before looking back over to Sage. "Come here," she murmured softly to him before patting the couch next to her. The kid was thin, at barely a few days old, and she couldn't help but feel sorry for it. She was still so confused about what had happened, though... who was the woman? She wasn't overly sure why Sage had been so worried... but the kid had definitely suffered.

Sage let out a sort of heavy breath, and he couldn't tell if it was relieved or not. Was it bad for half of him to hope the thing would pass away in the night from malnutrition or something? Because he did think that....and then immediately felt awful about it. Even if it was her kid....it didn't deserve to die just because it had come out of something bad. He hauled himself up off the floor when she spoke up though, panic and confusion still muddling his thoughts a bit as he plopped down and curled up against her side. Would she want to care for it? Did she know what was going on any more than he did? He peered over at the baby after a moment, still pale but a bit less...caught off guard, if you will. It seemed less hungry now, though it hadn't had much milk. He supposed that was normal though....he'd and his fair share of being so hungry when you got something to eat you couldn't have much of it.

Mari gently wrapped an arm around Sages side when he curled up next to her, and sort of moved to peck his forehead. The kid seemed okay now... but was so thin. Much more thin than a child of their age. If it didn't start putting weight on soon, she'd take it to the doctors. She did ent know what was going on... she wasn't really putting peices together at all. Once Sage seemed a bit more calm, she felt it fit to start asking a few questions... "Babe, do you want to tell me what's happening," she asked him gently, in a way that she hoped wasn't too accusatory. She just was red to understand why she had a two day old baby in her arms, to be honest.

Sage just curled up, trying to wrap his brain around everything that was happening. He glanced over at her when she spoke up though, and let out a huge breath. "She was one of the women who snagged me at the market," he muttered quietly, glancing over at the baby, obviously with conflicting feelings. "This little one must have come after that, without her wanting it to," he figured. There wasn't much of an explanation....but that seemed like the most likely option. He just hoped Mari wouldn't lose her mind like he had. They needed at least one of them to be able to think this through, and it certainly wasn't him as of right then. There were too many things crowding his head. So...he did hope she'd understand and help everyone work through it. Because even though he was hurting and confused all over again...he didn't want to just throw the kid out. It was his baby, after all.....and they'd both been hurt by her, even if the baby wouldn't remember that. He did hope she wouldn't turn nasty to the little one. Though, he couldn't help but ask, "is it a boy or a girl," after a moment, almost shyly.

Mari looked over at the boy as he talked, just sort of nodding along softly. She wasn't at all sure what to do. Some awful woman and somehow managed to get herself pregnant with her husbands baby... she knew it wasn't exactly that simple, but as far as she was concerned right then that was exactly what had happened. It was all she needed to know, too, for at least the time being. She sighed and moved to pat his side before looking down at the little thing. "He's a boy," she noted plainly, still bouncing the little thing up and down carefully as she tried to get him to sleep.

Sage felt himself relax slightly when she didn't seem to get too upset while he explained what he assumed had happened. Of course, he couldn't tell what she was thinking when she mentioned that it was a boy....but he did reach over after a moment and pick the baby up heasitantly. It sort of squirmed for a bit before settling down, resting against his chest tiredly. Maybe it was just instinct or something like that....but he started to drift off after a minute. Sage let out a huge breath and looked over at Mari, features softening. "We can help him right," he asked softly, curling up a bit more into Mari and around the baby. Maybe it was stupid, but he did want to care for the little guy.
