Mari sighed and sort of moved to slip the child into his arms. "If you want to, we can," she murmured, only just starting to figure out what exactly was going on. What bothered her most was that someone so awful, so cruel knew where they lived. And god, Sage must have been terrified. She didn't blame him. And yet he still wanted to look after this kid? Well, she supposed it was his. She was a bit reluctant, though... but if it was what Sage wanted, she wouldn't ever say no. Plus, they couldn't turn the child away... if they did, they'd be no better than it's mother.

Sage sort of just shrugged in response to her comment, letting out a heavy sigh and resting his head on her shoulder, closing his eyes and just trying to think. "I don't know what to do," he groaned, shaking his head slightly. When he looked back down at the little boy in his arms though, he sighed. "I don't want to just send him off though," he murmured. "She's hurt us both....I don't want to do the same thing to him she just did." Hopefully it would all make a bit of sense to Mari....he knew his mind was a bit scrambled at the moment, and could they really just take this kid into their home? What about their own kids? Well, this was his kid too, he supposed but....he was so young. Could they manage to care for him? He didn't know, and he didn't exactly want to think much about it.

Mark sort of wrapped a soft hand around his side and shook her head. "Sage, listen... do you want to look after this child? We can, if you'd like... there's no reason we wouldn't be able to, but we still have two other children to look after," she felt her brows not together after a moment and sort of shook her head. She was almost being a little bit selfish, to be honest... she really just wanted to ensure that this kid would be alright, but not really wanting to be the one to help it.

Sage sort of let out a breath, trying his best to think through the decision. He sort of just shrugged helplessly after a moment, not sure what to say. No....that was a lie, he knew he wanted to step in and care for the little guy. He just didn't know how to tell Mari that. She obviously wasn't too pleased with the idea. What if this baby ruined what they already had here? Man, he was just so....scared about it all. He sort of just stared at the sleeping baby before letting out a huge breath of air, muscles in his jaw jumping and he grit his teeth together. "I'm not abandoning him like his mother did," he finally decided, brows knitting together slightly. "I can't," he whispered, breaths hit hing again as he thought of all the events leading up to this. And what could all go wrong after it.

The girl just sort of stared at the child for a moment. It was a funny looking thing, but... sweet all the same. It was definitely Sages kid. It had his eyes. It did worry her a little bit, though. The last thing she wanted to do was reject the child, but it he idea of looking after a kid that wasn't her own for however long seemed to make her grit her teeth. When he said he wanted to look after him, she nodded quietly. "Okay," she murmured gently. "That's fine... we should probably get him to the doctors and make sure he's alright in the morning," She sighed before standing up and sort of shuffling towards the kitchen to finish off her baking.

Sage gave the girl a thankful look when she agreed to keeping the child here, at least for now. He could tell she wasn't too thrilled about it though. But what did she expect him to do? They didn't really know anyone else who could care for him, and he wasn't going to just leave him somewhere....and he certainly wasn't going to bring him back to his mother, if he could even find her again. He sighed slight and curled up into the edge of the couch, watching Mari walk away, sort of just hoping she wasn't too upset about it all. It was fairly obvious she wasn't happy about it....but was she mad at him? Was she going to treat the baby right? He needed a mother...was Mari going to accept him? He didn't know, and now his chest ached and he just felt empty. Was he going to end up having to decide between them? He'd choose Mari and the kids he had now, of course, but he'd feel awful leaving this one too. He shivered slightly, admittedly wishing she'd stayed....he was still scared about the whole situation. But he wasn't going to chase after her...she probably needed time to think.

Mari sort of padded quietly around the house, not overly sure what to do. She was angry - not at Sage. It wasn't his fault at all, none of this was. She was angry that someone could just walk into their lives, leave a child and then walk right out again. She wouldn't ask him to leave his child behind, but she didn't like the whole thing... it just didn't seem safe. Not when her own children were so close to it all. It annoyed her that some woman could get pregnant with her husband child while they had to try so, so hard to have even one of their own kids. But again, it wasn't Sages fault at all... none of it was. It was just a bit unsettling.

Sage sort of sat there for a while, mind running. He'd eventually turned to curl into the corner of the corner, subconsciously seeking some form of comfort as he moved to look out the window. Watching the horses seemed to calm his mind a bit, though he was obviously still shaken up and admittedly worried about it all. After all....he had no idea what was going to happen. No idea what the kids would think about it all. No idea really what Mari was thinking ....she obviously wasn't happy with the whole situation, but she wasn't saying no to the child either. He sort of groaned softly, dropping his head into the couch, wanting to just stop thinking for a moment. Of course, he didn't get that peace.

Mari sort of pulled everything out the oven after a bit, then sort of caked the kids down to explain what would be going on... they deserved to know what was going on. Just so they could understand why a random baby was there. She sort of sighed after a while of explaining things, and soon enough called Sage in to come and get some dinner. She did hope the child was okay... none of this was his fault, either, but something in her head was making her feel like it was... it was just kind of an odd way to think about things.

Sage had sort of just stared out the window, mind running in all sorts of directions he didn't want it to go but he didn't have the energy to try and stop it or change the way he was thinking. He half jumped when Mari called over to him, and he let out a heavy sigh before placing the sleeping baby on the chair where he could see if he woke but where he wasn't in the kitchen while they ate. He padded in quietly, almost shyly, and took his plate silently before sitting down, leg bouncing up and down under the table and fingers tapping lightly on it. It was all mindless...there was just a lot of pent up stress and energy there, he supposed.
