Mari smiled softly when he took the baby from her, and nodded softly to him. "Okay," she sort of whispered before going to get herself some food and settling down on the couch after a little bit. "We should take him to the doctors," she murmured quietly before sort of flopping back on the couch with a sigh. "I don't think he's well," she then added quietly. She just wanted to make sure he wasn't bringing in any illnesses to her kids, either... she hoped not.

Sage moved to just rock the baby until he quieted down a bit. He then moved to sit down on the couch, Silas eventually moving over, begging to hold the little one. Sage wasn't sure what Mari had told the kids, but Silas had a wide grin on his face when sage told him to sit on the couch and handed the baby over to him. He nodded in response to Maris comment, frowning slightly. "He's definitely not healthy," he agreed. "and I don't want him bringing anything in," he sighed. He didn't want the kids or Mari sick, obviously, but he was also aware that if he got sick it would be rather bad, and they couldn't afford for him to be off his feet for very long. Or anything worse.

Mari smiled softly to him after a moment and went to finish washing everything up. She looked over to watch Silas and the baby, and all she could do was smile. It was sort of sweet. She had only explained that the kid would be staying for a while... she wasn't too sure what else to say. She'd tell them that the kid was his half brother soon enough... she just wanted to settle down for a few days and get into a bit of a routine. She sort of sat back down and gave a small sigh. "He's just... really thin. The woman should have been looking after him. I don't know how you couldn't," she murmured after a moment or two.

Sage was more than happy to let Silas hold the baby....it made them both happy, it seemed like, since the little boy let out a happy babble sort of noise as Silas laughed. It was sweet, he thought. He did glance over at Mari to make sure it was alright though, and felt himself relax when she was smiling too. Though, he hummed and nodded in response to her comments about the little one. "She must have just not fed him," he sighed. "I'm not sure how people can be so cruel to their kids," he mused softly.

Mari just sort of nodded to him. The kid wasn't even remotely hers, but she would at least keep him warm and make sure he was fed. "It wouldn't have taken her much," she murmured softly to him after a moment or two before shaking her head. "It happens so much here too... it's insane," she murmured, kind of holding a hand out as Liz came waddling over to her. She pulled her up to wrap her arms around her carefully. "He must have been crying too," she murmured softly. The sound of her kids crying when they were younger just hurt her... she didn't understand how someone could just let them keep on going.

Sage sighed and nodded fully in response to her comment, taking the baby back from Silas when he ran off to play with Liz. "It amazes me sometimes, what people are capable of," he mused, sort of thinking back to some of the terrible things people had done. To him, to Att, to Silas, to random people on the street....it was all so awful. Maybe that was why he liked animals so much. They weren't as cruel to their own kind. They were forgiving. Honest. That sort of thing. "I'm not even sure if I like him or not and even I don't want to hear him cry," he noted with a sort of shrug.

Mari nodded softly before letting out a heavy sigh. There were some torrents in the world, for sure... she just thought herself happy that she didn't have to deal with any of it. Her kids were happy. Well fed and cared for, too... she couldn't ask for anything else, not at all, really. "Well, I know I'm not his biggest fan, and yetI can still care for him a little. At least make sure he's still alive," she murmured softly before sighing. "Come on, let's get him checked out somewhere," she muttered to him.

Sage sort of hummed in response with a nod, looking back down at the baby he was sort of just gently bouncing in his lap absentmindedly. "I don't know if this will work, but I do want to help him the best I can," he mused after a moment or so. He nodded in response to her other comment, getting up with a grunt and handing the boy over to Mari. "I'll go hook chaos up to the cart," he hummed lightly, pecking her on the cheek before wandering out the door. He didn't take long, and soon enough they were all on their way down to the doctor's. He wasn't too sure how to explain the situation to the old man....but he figured it would get out somehow.

Mari nodded in agreement before grabbing the kids and herding them into the cart she grabbed the baby too... he was so quiet. He seemed a bit more lively than the day prior now, too. They dropped the kids off with her mother, the woman looking very confused as to why they had another baby at their side. But she agreed to take the kids for a little bit, anyway. They arrived at the castle soon enough, and it looked as though they were setting up for something. Atticus was outside playing with the guards... she remembered when he came into the castle years ago... he must have been about twelve now. He'd definitely gotten big. They made their way up to the doctors ward, soon enough settling down as they waited for him.

By the time sage had moved chaos up towards the house, Mari had rounded the kids up, and they'd come flying out of the house, more than happy to go visit grandma and their uncles. Silas had grown to absolutely adore Xander, and followed him around...which sage found at least slightly amusing. Soon enough though, they were settled and waiting for the doctor. The old man wandered in soon enough, an eyebrow shooting up in question when he saw the baby. "You're just a magnet for kids aren't you," he asked sage, moving to pick the baby up and look him up and down. Sage gave him a sheepish smile and shrugged, explaining the situation best he could. The doctor frowned slightly and nodded once he'd finished, grunting slightly. "And you're thinking of keeping him, I would assume," he mused, to which sage and Mari both nodded. "At least for now," he added with a sigh. The doctor nodded, handing the boy back to sage. "I'm going to run some tests," he informed them, moving to gather some equipment here and there.
