Jora's eyes closed as soon as she settled beside Sage, her body sinking into the bed with a soft exhale. She could feel the warmth of Sage’s touch as she ran her fingers through Jora’s hair, the damp strands tickling her neck. Despite the usual rush of thoughts that always followed her, she let herself slip into the calm of the moment. There was so much to do, but she couldn’t help but feel grateful for this rare moment of stillness. Her muscles ached from the day, from the constant movement and the weight of responsibilities that never seemed to ease, but being here with Sage, feeling her close, made it all feel more bearable. She’d agreed to rest, though it wasn’t easy. Jora had always been someone who pushed forward, no matter the cost to her body or mind. But right now, lying beside Sage, she knew she needed this break. Tomorrow would bring more work—more physical labor, more stress, but tonight, she allowed herself to drift into sleep, her body finally relaxing. The weight of everything else could wait. For now, Jora was content just to be here, in this quiet, peaceful moment. Edited at February 8, 2025 02:09 PM by Hudie

Sage slept rather well....something that was becoming more and more common the longer he stayed somewhere he felt safe. Which would really be anywhere Jora was with him, but being at home did seem to help that quite a bit too. Combining that with the exhaustion that had pretty much knocked him over and run him over with a train....and he slept better than the baby next to him, and she slept pretty well herself. The next morning brought warm sunshine with it, and as he woke he couldn't help but nestle in to Jora with a content huff of air, glad to feel the warmth on his skin and the peace that was swirling around the room. There was lots to get done, but he'd promised Jora he'd take it easy today....so he was planning on just doing some small work around the house and stuff like that. Maybe some art, help Selene decorate her room. Something a long those lines. But for now, he pushed work out of mind and just focused on relaxing and waking up slowly with Jora.

Jora couldn't help but smile as she felt Sage nestle into her, the warmth of the sunlight filtering through the room, mingling with the calmness that seemed to cling to the morning. She shifted slightly, making sure Sage was as comfortable as possible, her hand resting lightly against his back, the steady rhythm of her breathing soothing in its own way. It always felt so good to have Sage close, especially after everything they'd been through. The way he trusted Jora, the way he'd been able to let go of some of the tension and just sleep... it meant more than she realized. Jora closed her eyes for a moment, just savoring the quiet, letting the moments stretch out in the peace. It was rare, but when it came, it was perfect. There was plenty of work to do—plenty of things to worry about—but for now, there was just this. Sage, the sun, and the quiet comfort of being together. “Good morning,” Jora whispered softly, her voice low and warm against Sage's ear. “How do you feel?” She didn't need an answer right away, but she loved hearing Sage's voice in the mornings, especially when it was quiet and full of contentment like this.

Sage heard Joras voice after a while, and sort of tilted his head towards her voice, humming softly. "Better than last night," he noted with a chuckle, voice crackly with sleep still. "I'm hoping to do smaller things in the house today and then be down to work on the dock by tomorrow," he added, stretching slightly before turning towards her and settling down again, content. His lips turned upwards in a slightly mischievous manner though, and he chuckled softly. "Though, I am curious as to what ideas you have to spend time together," he mused, half flirting. He didn't really know what he was expecting to happen, of anything at all, but he certainly wouldn't mind a few kisses throughout the day or anything. If it got more intimate than that...well, he supposed he'd just see what happened. He wasn't really sure what he felt about that. But that wasn't likely going to happen this morning either way, not if they were both content to just lay here in the sun.

Jora stretched out beside him, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she listened to his voice. It was warm, still thick with sleep, and she couldn’t help but find it endearing. Her fingers brushed against the fabric of her blanket, idly toying with it as she watched him, his eyes glimmering with that mischievous spark that always made her heart flutter a little. "Smaller things, huh?" she mused, her voice teasing but soft, like the breeze that drifted through the open window. "Well, I have some ideas, but I'm not sure you're ready for them." She let the words hang in the air for a moment, pretending to contemplate his playful question as she studied his smile. Jora let out a small laugh, the kind that was light and carefree. "I think... maybe we start slow. Enjoy the sun while it lasts." Her gaze lingered on him for a second longer before she added, with a playful glint in her eyes, "We can see where the day takes us." Her hand slid over, resting lightly on his arm, feeling the warmth of him and the calm between them. She wasn’t in any hurry. They had all the time in the world, didn’t they?

Sage couldn't help but chuckle softly as she spoke up, just grinning over at her softly. His actions were lazy, still bogged down by grogginess a little bit. But that was ok ....they had all the time in the world. "Well I guess there's only one way to find out, isn't there," he noted softly. He wasn't....not up for something like that. He supposed he'd never really know until they tried. But for now, he was content to just lay around a little bit. "I think laying in the sun it's quite nice," he agreed with a tired chuckle, sort of just nestling into her happily after a moment or so. Times like this were just perfect...slow, calm, peaceful. It was something he didn't think he'd ever really get used to.

Jora couldn't help but smile at the sound of Sage's chuckle, his laziness a comfortable weight beside her. She glanced at him, feeling a warmth that had little to do with the sun shining overhead. His words, soft and easy, made her heart stir in a way she couldn't fully explain. The quiet moments with him... they were everything. "Yeah, I suppose we do," she murmured in agreement, her voice barely more than a whisper as she let her fingers idly trace the edge of his hand. There was a gentle assurance in his presence, something grounding, like he was exactly where he wanted to be, and somehow, so was she. She let out a soft laugh at his tired chuckle, the sound so genuine, so comforting. "It is, isn’t it?" she said, settling even closer into him. "I could stay like this forever." It felt like everything in the world was still—no rush, no need for anything more. Just this. Just them. The peace of the moment wrapped around her like a blanket, and she wondered how she'd ever gotten so lucky to have this... with him.

Sage hummed lightly in agreement to her comment, nodding his head up and down slightly. "Hopefully we'll have mornings like this for the rest of our forever," he noted in agreement, voice still light and quiet, not wanting to disturb the peace. The baby was a deep sleeper and didn't wake easily, but even so talking too loud just felt ....wrong somehow. But with Jora, he really could stay here forever. At least, until he started getting hungry maybe half an hour later. He sort of huffed out a breath of air when his stomach growled, sort of curling into Jora a bit more before moving to flop onto his back with a groan, not wanting to get up and go find food. He found himself looking forward to a lazy day...he still was just sore and tired. Maybe he'd ask for a back rub later. He didn't mind returning the favor either....but for now, food was the priority.

Jora smiled softly, her eyes half-lidded as she listened to Sage’s quiet words. She could feel the warmth of his presence beside her, the gentle rhythm of their shared silence wrapping around them like a comforting blanket. The peaceful mornings, the ones where everything felt perfectly still, were rare but treasured. It was the kind of moment she could hold onto forever. When Sage’s stomach rumbled, she chuckled quietly, her fingers absently brushing through his hair. She could sense his reluctance to move, to break the stillness of the morning, and she couldn’t blame him. "I think you’ve earned a lazy day," she murmured softly, nudging him gently. "But food's gotta win eventually, right?" Her voice was tender, knowing that the need for nourishment would always outweigh the pull of comfort.

Sage had sort of just groaned with a shake of his head in response to Joras words, not wanting to move. "Unfortunately," he grumbled, though after a few more minutes moved towards the kitchen, grabbing a few pieces of fruit and then wandered back to the bed, wasting no time in sliding into the warmth that lingered under the covers. He sort of half sat up that way, leaning against the headboard and taking a bite of his own piece of fruit as he handed the other piece to Jora. They could lay around a bit, which meant they'd both need to eat something small while there. Lyra was still asleep, so it was still quiet, at least for now. It was certainly nice.
