Jora smiled softly as she continued to work her hands over Sage’s back, feeling the tension in her muscles slowly start to ease under her touch. It was calming, the way her fingers moved across Sage’s skin, and she could feel the subtle shift as Sage relaxed, her breathing deepening, drifting between wakefulness and sleep. There was something satisfying about it, knowing that she could help ease that discomfort.
She chuckled lightly to herself at the thought of how something as simple as back ribs had become part of this little routine. Funny how it didn’t take much for her to feel that close to Sage, but these quiet moments of connection felt almost like a secret language between them. Jora didn’t mind one bit.
The more she worked, the more the tension seemed to melt away, and she felt Sage slip into that peaceful, half-asleep state. Jora’s movements grew gentler, slower, letting her enjoy the calm as much as Sage seemed to. Eventually, when she stopped, Sage shifted, curling up with her again with that soft hum of contentment that made her heart flutter.
“You feeling better?” Jora asked quietly, her voice low and warm, as she pressed a light kiss to the top of Sage's head. There was a small satisfaction in knowing she’d made Sage feel this much better, even if just for a moment. She wasn’t sure how long they could stay still like this, but for now, she was content to enjoy the closeness, letting the quiet linger.

In response to her comment, sage sort of hummed lightly in agreement and nodded, offering her a smile and soft chuckle. "I didn't realize how tense I was until I wasn't so bad anymore," he noted with slight amusement. He did feel better....a lot better. It was crazy how something was simple as a back rub could do that to a guy.

They couldn't just lay here forever, of course, he knew that, as would Jora. But for now he was happy to lay there, just soaking up her presence. Breathe in her scent. When Lyra woke and started to coo, he moved to scoop her up, greeting her lightly before climbing back in bed, nestling in with the baby on his chest. He still could hardly believe she was here, and real, and alive. They had their perfect little family, and he couldn't be happier. "I think she may need a play mate," he mused after a moment, tilting his head to peer over at Jora in thought. A sibling would be nice.

Jora smiled softly as she watched him, a warmth spreading through her at the sight of Sage holding Lyra. She let out a small, contented sigh. It felt like everything had fallen into place, and it was hard to believe how much her life had changed in such a short time. She watched as he settled back into the bed with their daughter, the peaceful rhythm of their little family filling her with a sense of tranquility she hadn't known before.
"You think so?" she replied, her voice quiet but filled with affection. She propped herself up on an elbow, glancing at him with a playful smile. "Well, you know, a playmate would be nice. But maybe we should wait a bit before we start thinking about that."
She chuckled softly, the idea of more children exciting, but also a little overwhelming. Still, she couldn’t help but feel a pull toward the idea of expanding their little family. It was hard to imagine not wanting more moments like this, seeing Sage and Lyra together. "What do you think? You ready for another?" she asked, teasing but also serious, her eyes meeting his with that quiet hopefulness she often carried.

Sage hummed softly in response to her comment. "In a bit, once we have things figured out," he mused. It couldn't be too long...having the kids be around the same age would be nice. But it would be someone for Lyra to play with. Another kid. She'd need that, and they were on an island by themselves. Though, when she said they should wait, he chuckled softly and nodded. "I think we need to take a bit of time," he agreed lightly.

Her next comment did cause him to cock his head, thinking, though. He did want another, but that would mean getting intimate. It wasn't that he was opposed to it....he missed being able to do that sort of thing with her...but he just wasn't sure if he was ready. He sort of let out a breath, staring at the ceiling as he thought. "I think i'm ready to try," he noted softly after a moment. He was talking about the whole thing, not just the kid part of it....but a lot of this was up to her. If she was willing to sleep with him after the tavern and such. If she was ok with stopping if need be. Really, he didn't think she'd have a problem with any of that...but he was a bit nervous.

Jora listened to Sage hum softly in response to her comment, a warmth filling the space between them. The thought of having another child danced in her mind, bringing a sense of hope and excitement. A second child would thrive with Lyra, someone to share laughter with on this isolated island. But she knew they shouldn’t rush into anything; it felt good, however, to hear Sage agree. “Time is what we need,” she said, her voice light with a hint of optimism.

When Sage's expression turned contemplative, Jora sensed the gears turning in his mind. She shared his longing for intimacy—it had been far too long since they had connected in that way. The idea of welcoming another child into their world was exhilarating, yet she understood the complexities it would bring. She watched as he took a deep breath, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, and felt her heart race with both anticipation and trepidation.

His softly spoken admission, “I think I’m ready to try,” struck Jora. It was a gentle push toward a decision that felt both thrilling and terrifying. His words carried more than just the idea of adding another child; they encompassed the weight of their journey together, their shared past, and the unexplored paths waiting ahead.

Jora could feel Sage's nervousness, a fragile thread woven into the fabric of his determination. She wanted him to understand it was okay to feel this way, that they could take this step together at their own pace. She reached out and clasped his hand tightly, grounding both of their hopes and uncertainties. They didn’t need to rush; the prospect felt promising, a path leading to something beautiful. With a reassuring squeeze, she conveyed her unwavering support and solidarity, reminding him that they would navigate this journey side by side.

Sage had nodded in response to her comment, agreeing that jumping right into having another baby wasn't going to help them a whole lot. They had a few years time to figure all that out, there was no rush. As long as the kids would be somewhat the right age, it would all work out just fine. He was excited at the prospect of having another one though, he could admit that. Lyra was so precious to him. To them. He could only imagine the joy another one would bring.

When she squeezed his hand though, he looked back at her, features softening as he grinned at her. "At some point today, we can try," he agreed softly, sort of moving to press a kiss to her hand, suddenly just overwhelmed with how much she loved and supported him. He still wasn't used to it, but he certainly was glad about it all. He definitely needed it.

Jora smiled at the warmth in his voice, feeling a swell of affection toward Sage. It was the little moments, like this one, that reminded her of just how connected they were.
She squeezed his hand back, then let her gaze drift toward the window. “Maybe after we take Lyra for that walk?” she suggested casually, though she had been thinking about it a lot. The fresh air would do them all good, especially with the way the house had been feeling so quiet lately. It was a peaceful kind of quiet, but the thought of Lyra running around, exploring, made her heart lighten a little.
“She’d love it,” Jora added, her eyes twinkling as she looked back at Sage. “I’m sure she’s been itching for an adventure.”

Sage grunted in response to her comment, nodding his head slightly. "That would be nice," he agreed lightly. Then he smiled and looked down at the baby, curled up lightly on his chest, content to just snuggle up there. "If she's anything like her parents, she'll love it," he noted softly, sort of running his hand over her had happily. The baby had definitely gotten his head of hair...it was pretty amusing to see actually. It nearly drowned her head out with hair by then, since she was so small. But he had no doubts she'd grown to be a beautiful woman.

Jora couldn't help but smile at the sight of Sage with their daughter. It was a soft, knowing kind of smile. She leaned in, her gaze lingering on the baby as she curled up against him. "I think you're right," she murmured, her voice almost as gentle as the moment they were sharing. She looked at Sage, a twinkle of affection in her eyes. "She has your hair for sure. Just like you, she’ll be impossible to ignore."
Her heart swelled with a quiet pride as she imagined the woman their daughter would become—strong, confident, and every bit as remarkable as both of them. "I can already see it. She's going to take the world by storm."

Sage nodded along in response to her comments, a fond smile growing on his face as he watched the girl, who looked back up at him with wide, curious eyes. Though, her next comment made him chuckle, and give her a more mischievous grin. "I did my best to get you to leave me alone," he protested. He'd quickly realized that wasn't a great option, but he could still joke about it all. "You were having none of that," he added with a soft snicker. He nodded, humming in agreement at her comment about the little girl. "She'll be the strongest of them all," he noted happily.
