Jora glanced over at Sage, her heart skipping a beat at the mixture of mischief and warmth in his eyes. She studied him for a moment, her fingers playing with the edge of her blanket. The baby was finally settled, the quiet calm of the room a welcome contrast to the storm of thoughts swirling in her mind. "Sometimes I think you enjoy teasing me," she replied, a small smile tugging at her lips as she shifted slightly, leaning against the headboard. But her voice softened at the end, something deeper there, an unspoken acknowledgment of what they both missed. She didn't need to say it out loud—the absence of their usual closeness had been felt, but she was cautious. She always had been. "I suppose some things are worth keeping, aren't they?" Her eyes met his then, searching, before she let out a small sigh. She knew he was waiting, that little spark of anticipation in the air between them, but part of her hesitated. She needed to be sure they were both ready for this. "You know," she added with a gentle smile, "I think I might just show you." At her comment, he just gave her a grin, head cocking slightly. "That's part of the job," he chirped lightly. "Though I suppose it is rather fun to do," he admitted. "You can't say toying around with me isn't fun either," he added, arching his eyebrows upwards slightly, grin widening as he spoke. "Some things are too important to give up completely," he noted softly, with a small nod. He knew she was cautious about this ...she didn't want to hurt him, or freak him out at all. But he did trust her. They could go slow. Figure things out one step at a time. He thought he was ready....well, he would never know until they did it, but the fact that he was wanting to try said something he thought. At her next comment, he sort of just chuckled and gave her a grin. "Give me your best then," he mused lightly, though couldn't help but add, "cover up what they did to me," to the conversation. It was soft, quiet...but he knew she'd have heard it. He'd said something similar, the first time they'd done something like this ...and she'd made a promise. Well, he was making that promise now. That they'd be together, with nothing able to separate them. They were a family. And it was going to stay that way. |

His next words brought her back to the present, the seriousness beneath them catching her off guard, even as she smiled. "You want me to cover it up, huh?" she said, her tone softer now, the playful edge gone for the moment. She could hear the depth in his voice, the promise he was making, and her smile softened in response. "I’ll do my part," she said quietly. No one was going to break them apart. They were family, and that was something she would defend, with everything she had. |

Sage gave the girl a grin, head cocking slightly as it normally did when he teased, or when he was curious. "I think I can manage," he noted with a chirp. "I certainly have in the past," he added with a grin, not moving as she slid closer, their faces nearly touching by then. He'd moved to sort of loop his arms around her waist loosely, tilting his head up slightly so he could look at her, smile lingering on his face. He nodded softly at her next comments, offering her a soft smile as she continued to speak. "I know," he murmured, sort of leaning up to press his lips against hers lightly. That must have spurred her on a bit, since he found himself on his back on the bed rather quickly after that, once things started to pick up. That was perfectly fine with him, too...there was something familiar about being there, with her holding him snugly. Something comforting. Normal. |

Sage had let Jora shove him over easily, sort of shifting into a comfortable position and wrapping his arms around her happily. He'd missed this....mroe than he'd really known he'd missed it. Being there with her only seemed to prove that to him. That was ok....he didn't mind. They were here now, and really that was all that mattered. When he felt her tongue press against his lips, his breath hitched slightly, a smile forming on his face as he tilted his head back slightly, letting her move past his lips like she was asking. He'd closed his eyes by then, just enjoying the warmth of her body against him and they closeness they could share. Her scent, swirling around him. Her touch, soft but demanding, as it always was. Jora collapsed after that, turning her head so she could see Sage. She kissed his chest, smiling. She closed her eyes, exhausted. |

Sage had gone limp on the bed after a while, only moving to curl up with Jora when she collapsed beside him, wrapping his arms around her happily. "Thank you," he sort of hummed after catching his breath a little bit. They'd have to get up soon, he knew....the baby wouldn't stay asleep forever, and things did need to get done. Things like eating and finishing setting up selenes room and all that. He'd promised her a lazy day, sure, but things did need to happen. Small things, anyway. But for now, they could lay there. |

Jora chuckles, "What are you thanking me for?" she asks, nuzzling into his chest. She took deep breaths, exhausted but happy. "I should go make food soon" she mumbles, thinking out loud to Sage. "What do you want to eat?" she asks, looking over at him |

Sage sort of cocked his head with a hum in response to her comments, shrugging after a moment. "Just...being here, I guess," he mused after a moment. He wasn't really sure....but the way she handled the whole him thing, and just loved him and Lyra just made him feel like he should be thanking her more often. He nodded when she mentioned food, hungry now that she mentioned it. "You never did make Mac and cheese," he noted with a grin. "You keep claiming it's the best food ever," he added, a slightly teasing tone to his voice. |
