The woman sort of cocked her head at him, her brows pinching together as she thought. "Ages ago... we didn't really talk, though. We made no decisions, but assumed what would happen but I don't..." she sort of trailed off for the moment. It was so easy to be told not to talk about things now, but this seemed so... imminent. Like some sort of impending doom was hovering over her. All she could think was that Sage should have said something was off... he'd been so sick for so long now, and he only told her the night before he'd stopped breathing. That thought terrified her more than anything.

The doctor nodded slowly as the girl tried to explain it all, and squeezed her in a side hug gently. "don't fret too much....he's in the clear now," he promised her. At least...he was for now. But he wouldn't say that. They all knew he wasn't the healthiest man alive...but they'd fixed most of his lung issues while he was out, so that should be much better in the future. "For now, why don't you run and get some of his old art stuff out of that closet in there for this old man," he suggested. "My knees can't climb on that step ladder so easily anymore, but he's got a bunch of old stuff up there he can use for now," he added.

The woman looked over at the old man after a moment, kind of leaning into the side hug before giving a small smile. Sage was in the clear now. He was okay, and she didn't need to worry, just like he said. She drew in a small breath before nodding softly to him. "Yeah... I know..." she murmured with a bit of a smile. At his request, she just nodded and sort of went to go and find Sages old things. She did like the old doctor... obviously, he was Sages dad technically, but he'd become a father figure to her too. Especially after her dad died... he was kind but truthful and it was nice to hear. She really did just hope Sage would be okay.

The doctor smiled when he felt the girl's shoulders relaxing. Good...she didn't need to worry herself sick. Then they'd both be out of commission, which wouldn't help anyone. Especially since sage would need a lot of help the next bit of time. He got up to follow her over to the cabinet, pointing to the top few shelves. "I believe theres pencils and paints up there, and then paints below that, and paper and such below that stuff," he hummed. "there might be some old pieces in there too," he added thoughtfully.

The woman gave a small sigh after a moment, sort of moving to help the man pull all of Sages things down. Like he said, there was paints and paints on the top couple of shelves, and paper and stencils below... she drew in a huff of air, soon moving to pull everything out. There was definitely some old art peices too. She didn't dare look at any... Sages past was pretty scary and in truth she didn't want to see it the way he had. "This everything?" She asked lightly as she hopped down from the stool.

The doctor had helped the girl as much as he could, humming lightly as she stepped down from the stool and nodding. "I believe so," he mused, closing the cabinet door and sighing slightly, looking over everything. "I can get a bin or something to put everything in, keep it in his room," he thought out loud. Though, when a small drawing caught his eye, he moved to pick it up, looking at it with a chuckle. It was of Mari...a long time ago, back when he'd first met her. That time she'd corrected him with the bandages on his wrists. Except...the light from the windows had formed something the looked suspiciously like angel wings around her in the black and white graphite of the piece. He stared at it for a few moments before handing it over to the girl. 'You know, nothing's changed," he hummed lightly before wandering off to find a bin.

The woman smiled softly when the man said that was it... Sage would definitely be happy about it all. She hummed softly to the man? Sort of piling it all up so she could take it to her husband, though when the man gave her the drawing, she couldn't help the little smile on her face. It was obvious what the man was pointing to, but she was more than impressed with the drawing itself. Sage had managed to portray her in a way that she didn't even see herself... and it was just so gorgeous. She hoped that was how he saw her still. She wasn't sure if he saw her and an Angel, or maybe it was a coincidence with the lighting of the drawing... but she hoped it was how he had thought of her. She hoped it was still what he thought of her.

The doctor chuckled lightly when Mari took the drawing with a smile and patted her on the shoulder before being down to pick up some of the stuff, planning to help carry it over to Sage. "The boy always did like you, you know," he mused to Mari as they walked over there. "he was just afraid to." The breakup, if you could even call it that, with Anya had taken it's toll on the boy, as had getting captured and stuff of course. He was in a bad place, and Mari knew that. "You might want to keep that one," he half teased her, with a light chuckle to his tone as they entered sages room. He was still asleep, of course, but the doctor set the stuff he was carrying down on the table and peered over at him for a few moments before nodding and pattering away again.

The woman gave a slightly sheepish smile after a moment before shaking her head. "It didn't feel like it for a moment there," she mused lightly. He wasn't always super friendly towards her when they'd first met. But, she supposed it hadn't taken long for him to warm up to her... and for that she could only thank her patience for not breaking when he was being a bit unkind. She was thankful she had been patient with him, though. So much good had come out of it. And she was definitely grateful than he'd been brave enough to be kind to her. She flashed him a grin when he said to keep the drawing... and she was definitely planning on it.

The doctor chuckled lightly in response to her comment, nodding slightly. "I know," he mused. "If looks could kill I'm not sure you'd still be here," he teased her lightly as he padded out of the room happily. Sage woke maybe half an hour or so later, and he gave Mari a tired smile before he glanced around and noticed the art stuff on the table, letting out a sort of chuckle. "He kept all that," he asked, shaking his head slightly amused at it all. It had been years since he's used that stuff. He moved to sort of slowly get up, stifling a gasp of pain when he placed his feet on the ground and glanced sheepishly over at Mari. "Help me over there," he asked quietly, a sort of embarrassed blush tinting his features.
