She watched him munch away on his food, a little laugh escaping her. She'd hardly expected him to want to get moving yet, but she was glad he had. He was probably a lot more comfortable now that he'd settled back down though. He'd never been one to sit still or anything, but he definitely enjoyed relaxing in bed. "No... it's not stupid and I'm hardly rubbing anything in, I just think it's sweet," she chuckled gently to him.

Sage had chuckled slightly in response to Maris comments, grinning over at her with a shrug as he devoured the rest of what was on his plate. He chugged the glass of water then, mostly because he knew he'd need to drink a lot to stay hydrated, before flopping over with his head in Maris lap with a huff. "It was more work than I anticipated," he grumbled, though not really super upset about anything obviously. "Don't tell the doctor I'm doing things," he noted in a more joking manner, holding a finger to his lips with a sort of chuckle. Of course, if Mari wasn't upset about it then it couldn't be too bad.

The woman watched him scoff his food before just flopping down on her, and she could just grin down at him. She smiled softly at his comment, moving to press a soft kiss to his lips. "I bet it felt good to be on your own two feet though," she mused softly to him then gave a cheeky grin. "The doctor doesn't have to know... I was just thinking you needed to start rehabbing anyway," she then chuckled, running her hands softly through his hair.

Sage let out a happy sounding chuckle, giving the girl the same goofy grin he always gave her when she kissed him. "yeah," he mused. "Though I can definitely tell my chest still doesn't like for me to do stuff," he huffed, wrinkling his nose slightly when she mentioned rehab. "That sounds like a lot of work," he noted, eyeing her somewhat wearily. It was nice to do something for himself ....and he did want to get better....but rehab would also cause pain and somewhat more misery than he'd particularly enjoy. He knew it was necessary, but it was also admittedly rather nerve wracking to think about. He could barely get to the bathroom, even with help and a couple breaks, and even now his chest still sort of felt like he'd pulled it open again. He'd settled down in her lap though, happily....and he did trust her not to push him to far, but still. The idea was sort of scary.

The woman sort of grinned at him after a moment, patting the top of his head gently. "You're chest is gonna hurt for a while. But it's closed up, and next week the stitches will be out. So we can't do too much, but we can start getting you around," she hummed before sort of cocking her head at him. It would be a lot of work... she knew that. It would hurt a little, and she knew Sage would be worried about it, too. "It will be work... but I promise we'll only do a little bit at a time. It shouldn't hurt too much if we do it all properly," she promised him after a moment.

Sage had sort of hummed with a nod in response to Maris comment, huffing out a breath. "So what you're saying is for the next week I'd better take advantage of you being at my every beck and call then," he joked lightly before wrinkling his nose in response to her next comment. "I'm hoping once the stitches are out it's not quite like I'm tearing things open again," he half grumbled, but nodded at the last part of her muse anyway. "It's gonna hurt either way," he snorted. "It's gonna hurt if I don't do the work too though," he thought out loud with a sort of sigh. "my body hates me," he half joked, though it was sort of true, he supposed.

The girl let her grin widen a little and gave a slightly amused nod. "Yep! That's exactly what I'm saying. Once you're all done you're gonna make up all the time I've been spending on you," she mused to him," gently patting his side. She sort of shook her head at him with a small smile. "Sage, it's not going to be anything like that I promise you. Once you get the stitches out you'll probably feel even better," she then hummed to him softly. "Once you get them out you'll feel a little bit freer... you'll be mostly healed, hopefully, and then it'll all be fine," she chirped. She then sort of nodded in agreement. "It will hurt. But like I say, if we do a little bit a day then I'm sure you'll be fine. The whole point is to get you moving so you'll feel better now rather than later," she reminded. "And yeah, you're body definitely hates you," she agreed with a laugh.

Sage chuckled lightly in response to her joke back at him, giving her an amused grin. "I'll have to be sure to get comfy then," he mused lightly before wrinkling his nose when she said he'd have to pay her back. "Hey, you married a sick old man, you signed up for this," he chirped with a sort of snicker before huffing out a tired breath and nodding. "I hope so, because this sucks," he grumbled, scowling down at where the stitches were still lodged in his chest for what seemed to be the millionth time. "I've been moving," he half grumbled, obviously not upset with Mari herself of course. "Moving hurts," he added, but patted her leg anyway, knowing he did really have to do the things.

The woman sort of snorted and rolled her eyes at him. "Not too comfy," she then mused slightly to him. Her brow sort of raised at him curiously before rolling her eyes. "No, no, I married a lovely young man. It's just a shamed he turned into a grumpy old man," she sort of chuckled softly to him, moving to peck his lips playfully. A soft hum escaped her after a little while though. "I know it sucks Babe. But soon enough you'll be better, promise," she murmured gently to him. It did amuse her though... he'd be better in no time, and he had been moving a little bit, but not enough to be fully better soon enough. "You'll be fine," she chuckled.

Sage had chuckled softly in response to her first comment, huffing out a breath when she mentioned he'd turned into a grumpy old man, pouting up at her, though his eyes were smiling so she'd know he wasn't actually upset. "You're just jealous I look so flawless in my old age," he teased, moving to pretend flick his hair over his shoulder in a snooty fashion before nodding in response to her other comments. "I know," he sighed. "But....we do need to figure out what will happen when I can't provide for you any more," he mused gently. They both knew this could easily happen again, and he wouldn't live as long as she or the kids would. So they did need something set up.
