{Daemon}
The prince he saw dancing with his sister and the prince now dancing with him were two different people. The graceful Dancer was now stumbling all over the place. Daemon knew he was attractive and that Keenan saw him as such. But never had he ever seen a grown male start stumbling over him. Quite ridiculous. Where was the composure he saw dancing with his baby sister. And then he asked for Another dance? Daemon gave Keenan a small chuckle and a pat on his shoulder, shaking his head ever so slightly. "You highness, I think it's time I run along. My brother and I will be traveling tomorrow and I need my beauty rest. Thank you for the offer though. I'll see you very soon, brother in law." He said. The words stung his tongue as he let them fly, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. Just the thought of being in any sort of relation with him made his skin crawl. "Good night." He said, giving a curt bow before he made his exit.
.
Daemon was a force through the halls. Just trying to get through to his room. Once he was there he ripped off the mask and began the process of cleaning up and packing. He wanted out. Far away. Good riddance. Remembering the dance, he practically bolted to the bathroom to scrub away at his hands before running himself a bath to further scrub it off.
.
{Faust}
The male rolled his eyes, "I've lived amongst the military for quite awhile. All of us drink, Aleks. All of us." And it was true. No one ever wanted to think about what had been happening during those years and so they made sure they wouldn't. "Anyways, I'm feeling a bit warm. And not in the good way, could you help me go for a walk?" He asked, holding up his punch. Meant to be spiked? He would have to try it one day. Just Not this evening. He felt rather drained and done. And he'd so been looking forward to this party. All the dancing and such. Now he was just... done. Bored of it all. Had Aleks not been here he probably would have left long before now.
.
"Actually, I'd rather just head up to my room. I'm rather worn out for this evening. Not exactly peak traveling shape," he sighed, putting the glass of dark punch down. Tired. Very tired. "Come along then, buddy Ole pal. I'll give you an address and we can send letters back and forth. Proper pen pals."
.
{Freyja}
She almost laughed at his little joke. Humanely. In the moment it felt like that was the last thing on his mind when they found out about Cassian. She did laugh when he said something about feeding and she decided to drop the whole yout-tried-to-kill-me topic. As for the feeding situation... that was entirely Freyja's nerves acting up. The princess gave a shrug, "I don't like taking any chances. Mind you, you are all literally our cautionary tales back in Sylvia. The stuff of nightmares." She sighed, dipping her brush into a darker brown to get the sketching done. "I'd rather have it around then take any chances. Forgive me for taking the safe route."
.
You smell different. The words made her freeze up. Did he know. How could he? Keenan said it was unheard of here. The princess coughed up a nervous laugh, "I've switched from lavender to vanilla." She replied as naturally as she could muster up at the time. And then continued with her work, listening to him speak. Rather dull he made himself out to be. There was the normal noble childhood and then the tragic family deaths and that's all he offered up. Freyja resisted the urge to roll her eyes at him. So little. She did have to take a moment to think over his question, finishing up the sketch only to mix up some of the colors to create his skintone.
.
"I was given the generic princess childhood," She started painting the face. "From birth till five I was with my wet nurse and her children, Taeya and Ronwyn. After that I was schooled in manners and history and languages. By age fifteen I had higher marks than all my brothers, then again, I was the only one who wasn't involved in the war. After that I was trained to be the perfect wife to whoever they chose to marry me off to. Three options: Keenan, an Orc, or the Fae prince in the north. I do think I got lucky this time, then again. It stopped a war. Now I'm waiting for this trip and for my brothers to leave," and for the King to die her mind carried on silently. "I want Daemon gone because Keenan can't stop drooling over him. I don't love him in a Romantic way," She started to stumble over her words a as she blended on the paper. "It's just... I know his wife, personally, she's his mate. And he tossed her aside like chopped liver. Not to mention all of my friends tend to drool over him. It's insufferable." The princess sighed. At this moment, the painting was definitely a male figure. Very smudged and messy though when the rest of her paintings seemed to border on lifelike.
.
There was one question that hung over her head. Looming more like it. It's presence was dark and gloomy. Did he have someone else who he thought about at night? Was there a lover writing him notes? The very thought made her blood start to boil. Territorial fae nonsense. Her brain told her she had no business being so nosy (not to mention jealous) about someone's love life who she hated up until thirty minutes ago. Her mind was torn between two decisions. One being to 'nicely' tell him to leave and the other was just to tell him everything and spill her guts to the Lord about the whole situation. One of those made her look absolutely insane.
.
However, she was saved when the maid knocked and then brought in the food at Freyja's approval. The small brunette set down the tray and scurried out quickly, the color missing from her face. After dinner. She'd make a decisions afterwards. Setting down the sketchbook on the nightstand, the princess made her way across to the room to sit at the opposite side of her table to see what the maid had brought. She uncovered the lid to reveal lamb stew and since she hadn't eaten since.... well, she almost started drooling. Freyja glanced at Montague, "Either pour yourself a glass and start talking or head out. Silence while eating bothers me." Of course she meant while dining with others, but even when she was alone she tried to find some sort of noise.

{Keenan}

Slightly offended that the other prince didn't accept his offer but still trying to not die of embarrassment, Keenan offered Daemon a practiced and composed smile, "I wish you both a safe journey back to Sylvia."

With that he turned his back on the prince and headed back into the crowd. He was still feeling less than okay but wanted to cling onto the party for a moment longer. That was when Claude asked him to dance. That was unexpected, considering that he had not seen her much in the past week, it was almost like she was avoiding him, until now.

Keenan allowed himself to be led onto the dance floor before saying, "We need to talk about earlier Claude," she held up her hand to shush him before they both launched into the dance.

"We will talk about that, tomorrow perhaps but right now, I want to talk about you," Keenan raised and eyebrow but Claude continued, "I just watched you almost collapse. You are an excellent dancer so I'm not having that you were dizzyed by the spins. What is going on Keenan? You're still shaking slightly, even now."

Keenan sighed, he couldn't lie to Claude, she'd just use it against him later when she found out the truth, "I have been feeling unwell since Daemon arrived. Then all the stuff happened and I feel like death right now," he admit with tense laugh.

{Aleks}

Aleks sighed dramatically, he placed his hand on Faust's shoulder, "That my centuries old friend, is not a healthy way to deal with things. We all have things we would rather forget or not deal with but drinking yourself into oblivion is a one way ticked to an early grave."

He nodded when Faust said he wanted to leave, "of course," he said helping him up and through the halls. He flashed Faust a stupid grin when he suggested they write letters to each other, "It will provide me the opportunity to practice my penmanship," a skill he had only learned since becoming a vampire and he still had not mastered the art of beautiful flowing script.

{Monty}

He actually laughed when she said feeding was the safe route, "I promise you that no one here will bite you unless you consent. The only vampires you really have to worry about are one's that have slipped into a blood rage, haven't fed for a long time, as in weeks, or fledglings. Even fledglings aren't that dangerous, only for the first few years and Aleks is the youngest fledgling here, he's mostly stable." He shrugged.

Freyja really was the perfect princess, apart from the accidental murder thing that she didn't seem to remember. He snorted when Freyja stated she wanted Daemon gone to keep him and Keenan apart, "I have to say that I agree with you. I'm sure Daemon is lovely and all but I don't like the way Keenan is so willing to spend time with him."

He rolled his eyes when she told him to feed or leave. She was very bossy, no wonder she got along with Keenan so well the pair of them were very bossy.

He filled the glass and sipped at it. He truly wasn't hungry. Then she had the nerve to tell him to talk, insufferable fae. So why did he follow her instructions? "Have you been shown around properly? I mean have you seen more than the garden and a few offices? The garden is nice and all but I reckon Keenan likes it because he can subtly use magic without upsetting his father. The training grounds and forest are wonderful and all but the royal library... that's something else. The texts that have been compiled there are fascinating. Everything from mages to vampire history. It's beautiful. If he hasn't shown you, remind me to take you there when we return," he said before he realised what he was actually saying.

{Faust}
.
Faust scoffed, "I never said it was a healthy coping mechanism. I said it was effective." He said with an extremely exaggerated eyeroll sent to his fanged friend. "I'm fae. I'm a high fae immortal. To drink myself into an early grave would be a blessing. You're too young to understand, young one." He said, shaking his head. Immediately stopped that because it made his head spin.
.
He stood, getting his balance on the first try... almost. That being said, he was silently grateful for his friend balancing him as he walked through the halls. A small part of him was relieved when he agreed to write. He hadn't even known he'd been anxious to hear Aleksander's answer on the matter. "Finally, someone with worse handwriting than mine! One tutor told me that he was glad I was the army son because of I had to sign and write letters all the time we would he screwed. He actually told me that. I was ten!" The prince said with a small grin in Aleksander's direction.
.
Once they got to his room, the prince stared at the door for a few seconds. "I'll be leaving with Daemon most likely before you take off for the tour. He's eager to get back home. Make sure Keenan has those journals locked up." He said, looking back at Aleks. "And remember to remind your little friends, that Daemon is protective over his weapon. Freyja is my twin. My perfect half. Only I am allowed to cause her to be upset on a daily basis. Don't let them turn her into something she's not," he said. Not meaning Vampire... although to stay away from that would be good. Mainly just herself. She'd been the favorite of Mother's side. The side he looked exactly like. And yet she was the favorite. Daemon was Father's, obviously. Rion was Mother's favorite. So Faust had the people. Simply because he wS next to them during the war and refused special treatment. But man, did he cause Freyja hell anytime he could.
.
{Freyja}
.
The princess plucked up her spoon, glad that Montague could follow an order. He even threw in a few sips despite not having a twinkling of hunger. She just didn't appreciate complete silence. It was awkward and rubbed her the wrong way without fail every time. As he spoke Freyja nodded along, taking small bites here and there as (if we're all being completely honest) most of her attention was on Montague and whatever topic he'd chosen to speak about. "Still. Safety first." She said, regarding speech about the whole blood situation. It called upon a set of golden eyes rolling. Rolling, and yet there was a small grin playing about her features as she blew on her next bite to cool it off before she ate it.
.
Her nose wrinkled at the thought of Daemon. She'd been blinded, apparently. That Journal had opened her eyes to the kind of person he was. And it wasn't good. Points for trying though. But the princess shook her head. "Montague, don't lie. We all know none of my brothers are particularly...lovely. Daemon just has more evil flaws, at least Faust's evil deeds were entertaining. The wine blood switch? It's happened several times, always for a laugh. Daemon...I don't know how to view him anymore. But that's a topic for another day," She said, raising her brows as she plucked off a piece of bread.
.
She was a bit shocked when he continued. She was shocked that he stayed. Glad, nevertheless, but rather shocked. She'd even bossed him around a bit.
.
"No, I've not been properly introducing to my surroundings. I rather like the garden, thank you. But I've been to only rooms I've needed to be in." And that was the truth. She still had to study and burn those dumb maps and then she'd know where to go every time. Still, that didn't stop her heart from fluttering. Then fluttering a second time as she remembered they could hear heartbeats. The princess attempted to cover up with clearing her throat and setting down the spoon but it still couldn't hide that blush that was stinging the tips of her ears. Freyja bobbed her head in a slight nod. "I'd love to see the library when we return."
.
And just like that. Everything he'd ever done against her was out the window.

{Aleks}

The vampire took a long breath, trying to just ignore Faust, the male was drunk. The comment about him being too young to understand struck a nerve, he just hoped he didn't actually cringe as hard as he felt he did. He sighed softly, "I am well aware of my inexperience as an immortal Faust but thank you for reminding me," he said rolling his eyes.

The comment about Faust's hand writing earned him a small smile from Aleks, "Ah see you have no excuse Mr princeling, I do but also good luck deciphering what I write," he said sheepishly, "Practise leads to improvement though," he said with a shrug. Faust was definitely leaning on him more than he realised, not that Aleks really noticed. That was the most unnerving thing about being a vampire, things that would have sent him crumbling to the floor as a human were now nothing.

Aleks snorted when Faust just stared at the door. Gods the male was out of it. Aleks pushed the door open and just looked at Faust listening to his big goodbye speech. "I can promise that the journals are locked up and not even the king is aware, although I have a feeling that a bigger scandal may come to light anyway but yes to keep your mind at ease I can promise that Freyja won't be turned into a vampire. It's almost impossible for fae to be turned into a vampire, the only vampire that has managed to turn a fae was Keenan and... oh" he said in a small voice realising how it had worked, a high concentration of fae blood would not kill Keenan because he was one of them (well sort of) huh, "But also do you really think any of us can stop her if she sets her mind to something?" he laughed, "Besides no harm will come to her here, regardless of what the king thinks or tries."

{Montague}

Montague snorted, "Look I was just trying to be polite. Even without the whole 'project rosebud' thing, which was totally creepy by the way, Daemon really just gives me the heebie jeebies. Faust I get. The male has seen somethings, hence the drinking and look I get it. More vampires would be like that if the king wasn't so strict. I get the drunk thing though, sometimes forgetting is better," he shrugged, "What I don't understand is why a pretty fae flirts with Keenan and he is a crumpled mess, he barely manages to hold it together. Could you imagine what a disaster it would have been if Keenan had been married to Daemon? At least you care," he said, "Also you mentioned having the option to marry a different Fae prince, if you don't mind me asking, why Keenan? Why a vampire?"

He'd set the glass of blood down, hardly touched and focused on the conversation with Freyja, he snorted when she said she like the gardens, "Mhmm. I am not convinced. The library is better in my opinion. There is a wealth of knowledge stored there, generations of history transcribed. We even have translations of some old fae texts from when we got along millenia ago, I am not sure how accurate the translations are but fascinating nonetheless." Heat filled his cheeks when he herd her heart flutter, not once but twice, "Perhaps I should take you on a proper tour one day? Since we are having a brief reprieve from war, my duties are much lighter at the moment."

{Keenan}

Claude had dragged him away from the party, much to his displeasure. She had muttered something to the servants after deciding he had a temperature. As much as he wanted to stay, he was feeling rather faint.

They returned to his quarters with blood and a bath waiting. "I do appreciate this Claude, but I could have ordered a bath myself," he said.

"And you can after you cool down," he looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "It's an icebath genius, now strip and get in or I am going to dump you in it, in your pretty suit."

"Turn around then," he squeaked, suddenly feeling self conscious, it's not like she hasn't seen him in worse condition.

Claude obeyed but snorted, "Since when are you self conscious? you really aren't well. We are both gay Keenan, and in opposite directions, you know that. I have seen you like this and worse in my life time."

"It's not my body I am self conscious about. I look fabulous thank you. However I am about to plunge into a freezing bath at your request."

He let out a hiss as he put one foot in and then his whole body followed. He shuddered at the extreme change in temperature but relief flooded through him, "You can turn around now."

Claude smiles, "Is that better though?"

"Yes," he says through gritted teeth, "How did you know it would help?"

"Elena used to make you do it when you were younger and actually training. Something to do with you not shifting properly."

"I miss the days when shifting was as easy as breathing," he said sadly.

Claude sighed, "Then you need to see Elena. We all knew this would happen if you tried to supress it, literally everyone other than your father told you that Keenan."

Keenan groaned as he sunk deeper into the freezing water, helping his temperature drop back to what it should be, "I was just doing what I thought was best, what my father said was best for my kingdom, especially after what happened with Maksim."

Despite everything, he had missed Claude, missed their easy conversations and her friendship.

"I know. However, how much are you willing to lose to obey your father? Aleks? Monty? Freyja? Me? You? He literally starved you, hoping you would go insane after your older brother had tried to murder you for shifting in your own home. Keenan, you are a halfling, you don't get to decide if you are a vampire or fae because you are both," she said gently.

Keenan sighed, Claude was right, hell he'd even nearly lost Claude over a blood oath, "I am sorry about the blood oath thing, I=it's traditional and my father wanted it done," he said sheepishly, "you are right though, I need to learn to say no. As for the halfling thing...I know. Freyja is helping. Being around her helps."

Claude smirked, "See! I knew she would be good for you. Look it's a shame you are both trapped in this marriage but you are good for each other. In the nicest way possible, Kee, you need friends outside of vampires."

"If I wasn't mistaken, I'd think I'd hit a nerve. Don't be ashamed of inexperience, Aleks. The rest of us are bored, at least you have time to learn." He couldn't name one (drunk or sober) immortal who didn't start to question their existence after age 300. "As for my writing, we shall talk about it when the time arrives." His chicken scratch more like it.
.
"I think Freyja is even stronger than you think. She would have made a wonderful general. But I meant her. Being a queen did many things to my mother, I have a feeling a good bit of those things won't be a problem because of Keenan being the way he is," he sighed, taking a few steps into the room. Leaving tomorrow. This was perhaps the first time he hadn't gone running back to the base. "Good night, Aleks. Have a safe journey tomorrow." He said, stumbling to the bed where he faceplanted. Everything would turn out just fine.
.
{Freyja}
The princess continued with packing up her tray, covering the dish away after her bread had disappeared. She couldn't help but roll her eyes as they continued about Daemon. Her brother believed everyone loved him, that they were utterly obsessed with him. Maybe it was true. No one seemed to be able to keep him out of their heads. She looked up from the covered tray and crossed her arms, looking at Montague dully. "Mind you, I didn't care in the beginning. Keenan has that effect on people. I care because he was willing to work with me and he didn't call me crazy outright. Him being gay helped me out a lot in that department." She said, giving her head a bit of a shake. His next question nearly made her laugh. They truly thought she had a word in this marriage arrangement at all? She got to pick the napkins.
.
"First of all, I wasn't given an opinion in the matter. I'd been with Cassian for so long I could have sworn Father was going to approve the union," Freyja said, giving a small shrug. Her face reddened a bit. Explaining her marriage propositions. With her unknowing mate. Excellent. "There was always several back up plans that I knew of. We've been at war for ages and my father wanted to win. Marrying me off to a chieftain of a Orc tribe would supply my father with many new soldiers that were more brawn than brains and every bit as savage. But then I could have literally been snapped in half, by accidentally or not. The more preferred plan was for me to marry the Prince in the North. We've even met a few times. Imagine Daemon, but with dark hair and brown eyes and a lot more handsy. I didn't enjoy him very much but at least we'd have more soldiers." She did give a huff of laughter at the thought. He was also rumored to be rather harsh. Freyja could have handled him either way. But the thought seemed ridiculous now. Here she had Claude and Keenan. And now she sort of had Montague. At least she knew who it was.
.
The princess could have listened to him him talk about the libraries all night. A small part of her found satisfaction in the fact he'd gone red after her heart had tripped over itself twice in a row. So she gave the lord a smile. Dark haired. Sometimes her self conscience was a few steps ahead of her. That dream might have been the actual trigger for it all. Freyja nodded, "That sounds lovely." She grinned, not bothering to mention the only books she really read and paid attention to were romances that made her brothers cringe. Freyja made a move to stand. "Lord Montague, it is getting rather late. I'd like to go and check on Keenan. Make sure he's not under some sort of love potion currently," She said with an eyeroll. It did give her a bit of anxiety though. Right after hanging out with Monty? Perhaps he would just ignore the scent. "Well, you can see yourself out. Good night," She said, slipping out of the room before any protests could be made.
.
Walking across the hallway, she knocked on the door. If he wasn't in there she would just go back to her room and kick Montague out so she could sleep. Right now, she was a big bundle of giant redhead nerves. "Kee, it's just me. I think I have to tell you something important!" She said, glancing around the halls.

{Aleks}

"I feel like you are the worst ambassador for enjoying immortality," he said with a snort, feeling slightly less offended, "But thank you," he said softly.

He was surprisingly going to miss Faust. It was the strangeest thing, they were the most unlikely pair but it worked. The castle was going to seem empty without companionship but at least they could write. He smiled at Faust and gave him a small bow, "Good night Faust," he turned to leave, before he found himself hesitating, "don't forget to write," he said in a small voice before disappearing.

{Montague}

Monty laughed, "I am well aware of the effect Keenan has on people. He is very charismatic." He did listen as she discussed her other possible suitors, "In all honesty, I am surprised this marriage went ahead. I fear the king agreed to plan a war against someone else."

He ran a hand through his short hair. "I have a feeling Pur species have different views on this marriage between you and Keenan. We have been trying to end the war and your people want to win."

{Keenan}

Once Claude was satisfied his temperature had dropped enough, she left and he was able to have a warm bath. Still not hot as he didn't want to risk the extra warmth. The only downside to balls was the effort it took to remove the makeup after.

Keenan opened the door to Freyja, who smelled ever so lightly like Montague, interesting. His blonde hair was wet and plastered to his face and he was wearing trousers and a black silk dressing gown that he had left untied. He'd managed to have a hot bath and remove the makeup since Claude left. He had been feeding when Freyja had knock, he opened the door wider, making space for her to enter, "Come in and tell me this 'something important."

He looked her up and down, squinting before saying, "Something about you has changed. I can smell Monty so I assume you have been with him but it's something else. Something my fae form is reacting to."

He sat down on the couch and gestured for her to join him. "I hope you don't mind me feeding while we talk. I used more energy than I realised causing me to make a fool of myself in front of your brother," a small amount of heat filled his cheeks but he was still freezing from the ice bath. He hadn't warmed up but that was a good thing. As a vampire, he needed to be cold, he was undead in this form and needed to stay in the right conditions.

"So," he said leaning back, "what was this news? And why do you smell like my best friend?" He said asking for the second time.

"Also I think I'm over the Daemon thing. Like its not that I don't find him attractive... I just made a right fool out of myself and I am slightly glad he is leaving because I don't think I could face him again."

{Freyja}
She waited patiently and smiled upon the door opening. Keenan had opened the door so she could slip through and that's exactly what she did. She was glad to see him feeding, it lightened her nerves a bit. Freyja had been determined to tell Keenan about the whole situation. The whole truth. But as she joined him on the couch there was a doubt in the back of her mind that there was a possibility Keenan wouldn't believe her. That he'd laugh. Normally, she wouldn't think such things about her friend but now her being was throwing the suggestions out like candy. So when she sat herself down, she gave a little laugh, wrapping her robe around her torso a but more tightly.
.
Of course he could scent it. After all, he was fae partially. And the scent? Did she think this through at all? "The something important is: Lord Montague and I have come to a Truce and so we shall have a peaceful tour. At least on our end. Also, my brothers won't be here when we return," She said, leaning back and sort of melting in her seat to be molded to the couch. She was afraid he might ask some questions but he instead jumped in on something about Daemon that, if she were to be honest, didn't really hear. The princess gave a laugh, catching the end. "See, excellent news that they'll be leaving."
.
She tilted her head a bit, "How long have you known Montague?" Monty had already told her they'd met when they were young and they grew up together. But it was different hearing it from Keenan. The male could work magic sometimes when it came to stories of the past. Freyja squinted at Keenan, "Claude. She was here recently, I can smell her a bit. I haven't seen her lately. " The princess said with a bit of a shrug, tossing a lump of red curls over her shoulder. The immediate thought that popped into her mind was to go see her and check up on her, the second was that Claude would know something was up the moment she walked in. Freyja wouldn't be shocked if she knew about it already. The female was too quick at figuring these things out. But she'd be on tour with them.
.
Oh no! The tour. She hadn't really started her packing for the trip and it nearly caused her to groan and interrupt Keenan while he spoke. But Claude would be there the entire time. She'd probably have it figured out in an hour. Maybe less. Perhaps she has better smell than even Faust. All of the possibilities nearly drove her into a panic. All while this was rolling through her mind, her face remainded focused, trying to listen to Keenan over her thoughts ping ponging all over the place. Not the respect her friend deserved, but most likely the only bit left in her.
.
Probably most definitely. Her attention span had shrank to fruit fly in less than two hours due to a singular male that she absolutely disliked with her entire being just before then. And now.... now? Now that was the complete opposite and she wasn't exactly liking it too much.

He was grateful for Freyja's company even if he had been planning to nap. He need to feed first anyway, otherwise he would be hungry and sore in the morning. The ice bath was necessary to drop his temperature but man did his muscles protest. He shivered slightly and loosely did up his silk dressing gown before pouring himself yet another glass of blood.

He sipped as Freyja told him her news. Her heart almost skipped a beat when she mentioned Monty. Hmm, so slight that it was only just noticeable. He leaned forward squinting at her. "You didn't answer my question. Your scent has changed, not a perfume either. Also what made you change your mind on Monty?"

He cringed when she mentioned that it was a good thing that her brothers were leaving, "I enjoy looking at Daemon. I really do. Find me one like him that doesn't make my magic do weird things and doesn't involve himself in strange experiments. And I almost fainted into his arms. So one of the most embarrassing moments of my life'" he shuddered. The memory made him want to vomit.

He grinned when she asked about Montague:, "I have known Montague for as long as I can remember. He's like a brother to me, hell, I think I spent more time with him than my actual brother so perhaps we are closer than brothers... I don't have a great reference point," he said with a laugh, "but I grew up here in the palace. My father wanted me to have a vampire friend in the hope that it would encourage me to stay in this form. As I was the second born, I was supposed to lead the life if the prince general. In all honesty, my upbringing probably wasn't all that different to Faust's although my father insisted that I be good at politics as well as swordplay. Now by my side at every step was Monty. He had my back in the war when we were stationed together and now he is the captain of my father's army."

Keenan sipped at the blood while she asked about Claude, "Ah yes Claude. We made up. More she went full mother hen on me and dragged me away from the party to plonk me in an icebath. She was worried after I almost fainted onto Daemon. She has been busy though, mostly avoiding me I think," he said honestly.

He enjoyed talking to Freyja, she made him feel safe even when he said the stupidest things. He brushed a strand of wet hair out of his face, "how are you feeling about the tour? We will head to my cousins on the coast and then heading to Monty's estate. We may stop at another village or two on the way."

He hadn't packed much if anything. In all honesty, he wasn't sure what to bring. He knew he was tired but he could have sworn Freyja was acting weird. There was no way she just forgave Monty and they both decided to get along without some sort of divine intervention. She acted strangely every time he said his name and she smelled different. What caused the fae to change scent? He really didn't know enough about their his culture.

{Freyja}
.
She looked across at him, waving off his question again. 'Your scent is off'. Two people had already noticed. She hadn't even fully accepted the bond (and neither had Monty. Forgive the poor guy for not even knowing). How could her scent already be present as such? Must be to make up for his lacking fae bits. So instead she just laughed, waving her hand and rolling those golden eyes of hers. "Keenan, you're tired. My scent is probably off for a reason you most likely do not want to hear about." She said, thanking her Gods that it was nearly that time of the year.
.
And that's when she settled into the couch to listen to Keenan talk about his best friend. It was rather hard, trying to be calm as he spoke. Spoke about her Goddess chosen. He must have noticed it too. Her friend seemed a bit too smug for her liking. Pffsh. Coming from the one who had a crush on her brother and it ended up causing himself embarrassment. Keenan nearly repeated exactly what Montague had said. They had grown up together. More like brothers than his actual brother. That explains it. He must have rubbed off on Montague. Keenan would have been perfect had he not been interested in the same sex. Luckily, they were friends. Freyja had only experienced Monty's most protective side, the one she'd seen Keenan have over something the princess had said to Aleks. Now that she thought about it, it was a rather fae trait.
.
"I'm glad to hear you've cleared things up with her. Just so you know. I was on her side of the situation and I stand by that," She said, moving away from the Montague topic. But it was really the truth. She was glad that they had made up. What could she do with two upset friends and caught in the middle? Insane. So there was nothing better than to hear those words. "And a lot of it came from you also being upset with me and the Cassian situation. Because I told you. You acted so shocked," She said, rolling her eyes.
.
She laughed, standing after she finished about Claude. "I love that female. She's a wonder. And full momma hen? Hmm, I pray I never get that way. I like being the wine aunt type. Sleepovers and drinks. That's what I like. Caretaking? Not so much. But I will tell one to leave a male."
.
The tour. "Yes, I'm going to head over to pack right now. Montage told me we'd be stopping by his estate near the border. I'm rather looking forward to your relatives though." She said with a broad grin. The princess had only met his father and to this day, she still hadn't exchanged any words with that male. And she still hated him with her whole being. "I'll see you tomorrow, wake me up first thing." She wanted to look relaxed yet presentable yet not trying all at the same time. And for what. Monty. Ridiculous. She was becoming unbearable to herself. "Rest up, little prince. We've got a long road ahead of us."
.
She decided that she would tell him by the end of the tour. The princess turned, "I'd like to share a carriage with Claude. If you don't mind. I'd like a bit of privacy for the first section of the trip to speak with her." She said, leaving the room with a small wave and headed to her own chambers to pack.
.
And pack she did. She packed a few dresses, thinner, fae material. Dresses that would hang instead of poof out like the vampiric fashions. Then a few pairs of trousers, some shirts, and an absurd amount of undergarments. Like the female had a fear of running out. Then there was a swimming bit and some more random items that would fit. She had to throw in some sleeping slips that were rather modest for the trip. Once she'd clipped the medium sized trunk shut.
.
The princess crawled into her bed with a goofy grin still plastered across her face.

Keenan squinted at Freyja and rubbed his eyes, "I'm tired and a bit fuzzy from exhaustion but my senses still work and instincts," he sighed, "although instincts aren't great right now. Fae instincts are limited to 'oo I'm attracted to that male' and then boom I want to shift. It makes me itch," he said with a laugh. Imagine explaining that to Daemon, his presence not only causes Keenan pain but makes him itchy.

She acted strange while Keenan told her about growing up with Monty, tense almost as if she was holding something in. He raised an eyebrow at her but was distracted when she mentioned his argument with Claude. He snorted, "Why am I not surprised. My hand was forced and its not like I was going to force her to give up her autonomy. I'm not a monster all the time... sometimes yes but that comes with being a vampire and a prince," he shrugged. He did what he had to do at the time. "As for the Cassian and you thing, I overreacted. For that I am sorry. I may or may not have been in denial about being a halfling and projected my self hatred on to you. It wasn't fair and I certainly didn't help make you feel welcome," he said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.

He grinned when Freyja said she loved Claude, "I'm glad you found another ally here. As for the caretaking, she mostly calls me an idiot and then spends her time stopping me from accidentally killing myself," he laughed, "there js a reason she is supposed to be my future right hand. Monty often gives terrible advice whereas she at least thinks things through."

He nodded when she talked about packing packing for the tour, he nodded to a medium sized crate in the corner of his immaculate room, "my belongs are packed already. Oh and I forgot to tell you, there will be two human guards accompanying us. Loyal to me rather than my father. I needed someone to watch us while we rest at night. Only thing it will impact is that Aleks cannot be left alone with them as a just incase thing," he shrugged, "but I can arrange for you and Claude to share. Monty can ride with Aleks and I'll sit in the carriage with the human guards and watch while they rest," he snorted, "I'm sure Monty will enjoy babysitting."

That would probably be the least awkward way to do it. Him riding the first leg of his journey with his ex was likely to be very awkward. It was easier to sit with the humans and he could just sit and read. Although his best friend and his ex being stuck together could possibly be a disaster but he hoped that there wouldn't be any awkward grudges.

He wished Freyja goodnight, finished his blood and collapsed into his bed, completely exhausted and sore.

Keenan woke early, he groaned as he sat up, his body screaming in protest. After dressing himself in travelling leathers and trying his hair in a messy bun, he ordered breakfast for himself and Freyja. Walking across the hall, he knocked the door, "Good morning my dearest wife," there was a hint of amusement in his tone. He still hadn't gotten used to the idea that he (the very clearly not straight vampire) would have a wife.

A servant barged past him with her breakfast, he smiled, "We will be leaving soon. The servants have begun packing the carriages as we speak. We aim to reach Montague estate before dawn," he said leaning against the door frame. Even though he was better than the night before, he was still exhausted.
