"I am biased but other people are blind." Leo sniffed haughtily. "If I could figure it out, then others can too." Then again, they had decided he must be half alien or somethin weird like that. Like a friggin Peter Quill.
-
(I can just imagine the evil laughter xD
Well that would make sense, and wow. Blunt. Lol)
His nose wrinkled slightly as her words drew him out of his thoughts, a slight smile flitting onto his face. "Well my apologies for waking you up with our problems." He stated with a joking tone, leaning down and kissing her carefully. "And thank you very much. No one has ever WANTED my problems before, so you have a very clouded mind." He teased.
He glanced at her at her question, rolling his eyes. "Jesus, no. Rod is in a cell. Locked away. I'm not going to get MYSELF arrested for assault or murder or some dumb shit like that. At the moment, I am merely going to see what happened and what I need to do." He replied flatly, then glanced around the room to see if there was anything else he could grab. When she spoke, he looked at her with a frown. "Glory, Rodney was Jules' only relative that mattered. Her FATHER. She must be terrified and heartbroken with him being ripped away from her. I can't help that, because I'll just make it worse! I barely even know why I'm bothering, since they'll take one look at how she reacts to me and immediately find her somewhere else to live. So yes, although I am pissed at Rod for getting himself into a situation like this, and yes, I do dislike him to an extreme amount, I would never wish harm on him because it would harm Jules at the same time." He explained flatly, stalking towards the door. "I need to grab something from my room." He said lowly, disappearing out and walking down the halls till he quickly found his room, not too far away, and entered. The space still hadn't been cleaned, but since he wasn't really spending any time in here, it hadn't gotten messier. He grabbed a pair of jeans and threw them on, then opened his drawer and pulled out a letter. A very dusty letter, apparently. Blowing the dust offa it, he opened the yellow pages and glanced over it. Rodney's last letter to him, saying if he came within a thousand feet of Jules ever again the guy would gut him. "Well too bad, dick." He muttered under his breath, ripped it in half, and dropped it in the trash. Sliding a dagger in his belt, he exited and went to Glory's room, grabbing his boots and lacing them up. "We'd better go." He didn't want to wait long to tell the people that he couldn't do anything for Jules. Leo started out, exiting the building and (how the flip they gonna get there except walk. Horses sure wouldn't help their condition. I guess I'll say walk for now and we can change it later xD) started walking down the road, a slight limp in his step.
.
Roughly 30 minutes later with a jarring pain shooting up his leg in every step, he turned into the building that they were holding Rod. He scanned the room and waited a moment before someone walked up to him. "Are you Leo Anubis?" They asked, glancing at Glory.
He gave a curt nod, not really wanting to speak and 'accidentally' say he wished he wasn't right now.
"Ah good. Come over here and I'll explain the situation." They walked to a corner and offered him a chair, and Glory as well, before sitting down. "Rodney Kraelin was arrested for child abuse. He-" They kept speaking, but every single word was lost to Leo after that. After almost 10 seconds of blank staring, his knuckles whitened. "Hold on. Stop. Jules is hurt?" He asked with a slight growl to his tone.
"... yes, um, that's what... child abusing is." They stopped with the sarcastic tone when he gave them a look like could've melted stone. "We found out as the girl managed to run into town before he caught her- apparently this has been going on for a while. She has many scars and, at the moment, is being patched up by nurses. None of her injuries are serious, but there are numerous amounts of them, the biggest being a slash across her face where we can only decipher that he threw a broken beer bottle at her and it cut across her face. It's very new, possibly from the last fight." They explained. Leo clenched his teeth, a now quite murderous glint in his eye. "Where is she." He asked lowly. They pointed to a back room. He stood and walked to the door slowly, stopping in the doorway to see an unconscious Jules on a couch with two medics gently bandaging up wounds. She looked so young, but already had so many scars. Her scarlet hair, unlike her father's, was cut short and ragged, ans her face was pale. Leo drew back immediately, vision swimming. "That son of a bitch." He whispered. "It's his own daughter." How could anyone do this? Apart from his father but that wasn't the point! She was an innocent child! "Where is Rodney." He moved back to the person, voice cold. They eyed him with obvious skepticism and a bit of fear before obviously deciding he could get through the bars and gesturing to a closed off room. Leo shouldered the heavy door open to find Two cells, one of which held a pacing person. "What the fuck is wrong with you?! She's your daughter for fuck's sake! Would Liona have wanted this?" He snarled.
Rodney turned, hate glinting in his eyes. "She looks just like you." The older man growled lowly, stalking up to the front of the cell. "Her hair is too dark of a shade to look like her mother's and her eyes. Her EYES. Not blue like mine. Not green like her mother's. Gold. Your stupid bloodline lived on in her, while you KILLED mine. Timbre was perfect! Why couldn't you have killed Jules instead!" The man roared. Leo was taken aback. He blinked, horrified by that. "They're not objects, Rodney! I can't believe you would ever do this- or wish that on anyone. Looks don't matter. Did you really- did you really beat her because she looked like me?" His voice dropped. One more thing that was his fault. Maybe if he just wouldn't have been related to Liona in the first place, everything would've been fine.
"Of course I did. She's wretched. She betrayed me." Rod hissed, sinking back.
Leo stepped back, jaw tightening. "Maybe when you start rotting in here you'll realize what you've done." He turned and exited the room, mind reeling.

"We-elll, it took people how long to figure out Earth wasn't the center of the solar system? I think you're just the one exception that'd be publicly executed for spreading propaganda," Glory mused, shaking her head. Yeah, seeing as it hadn't gone well for the astronomers who argued, Leo would definitely have one helluva time.

-

(Blunt as a rock, m'lady. Such is my way xD)
"No apologizing, I chose to make your problems mine," Glory said with a smile, trying to make herself taller to return his kiss. "Mm, not clouded, my mind's a terrifying abandoned funhouse of broken mirrors and people trying to kill you," She said somehow sweetly. Pretty accurate, too. Around one corner is a clown with a chainsaw, around the other is the clown's buddy, and you're stuck in a room of shattered mirrors and no idea where you are or where to go.
"I see. Annnd if we find that his subscription to living has expired, can we repossess his organs?" She asked. A delightful way of asking can I dismember and mutilate him and possibly make a wallet and a belt and a new pair of boots from his skin? As Leo spoke, Glory had to think for a moment on it, though it didn't really make sense to her. She shrugged and said, "My father got arrested a good many times, and the only 'scary' part about it was hiding from the authorities to avoid foster care." And given how her home life was, she had PLENTY of hiding places, so while dear ol' dad was sleeping in a motel with bars over the doors and windows, Glory was avoiding the idiots with their stupid phrases like we're just trying to help you! Bullshit. Glory sighed softly as Leo left, and Lucy whined quietly, probably upset about being left behind. Glory grabbed some of her favorite pokey stabby things, and painfully remembered that her fucking claymore was still in the possession of the Corrupted. Damn those bastards. When Leo came back, Glory nodded, taking his hand in hers, Lucy stalking along by her other side. (Yes walk like the peasants thou art. Y'know, if it were snowing, Lucy could pull a little sled xD)
-
Glory stayed right by Leo's side as the whoever the fuck they were started their self-righteous yapping. Glory had to actually bite her tongue to keep from snapping psychological abuse is a thing too, asshole, want me to show you? To her credit, she managed to stay quiet. Not a calm sort of quiet though, no, an I'm-planning-the-best-way-to-kill-you quiet. Her plotting turned to fuming though; she may not understand a lot of things about family, but she knew from personal experience the aim of an angry man with a glass bottle.
She followed Leo to go see Jules, and had a pretty stong feeling that Rod may end up with his namesake shoved where the sun don't shine by the time Glory was done with him.
When they went to go see the inhuman bastard, Glory found herself only more solidified in that belief, and Lucy, who'd insisted on coming inside too, stood perfectly still, head down, hackles raised, a low, menacing growl rising in her throat. If the bars were gone, Rodney would be a pile of screaming flesh, courtesy of Lucy. "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your crotch, and your arms become too short to scratch," Glory muttered coldly. Oh, there were a LOT worse things she wanted to say, but it'd be best not to say anything incriminating in front of the poeple here- the ones who could do something about it.
"Leo... what's gonna happen to Jules?" Glory asked softly. Leo was technically the next of kin... and last of kin.

"So I'm just smarter than everyone else." Leo grinned. Aliens were obviously better than people.
-
"My problems are sucky problems." Leo pointed out flatly, then smiled faintly. "I hope I'm one of the people trying to kill others." He joked quietly.
"Not while he's in the building being monitored by people who would repossess my soul." He replied with a slight snort, then his eyebrows drew together slightly. "You are a special case, Glory. Most normal children would be scared." Obviously wouldn't, but he wouldn't have either. He would've been rejoicing to the good Lord almighty. However, he was extremely worried about Jules, who he assumed to be a normal child. She would be terrified right now, alone, father gone, surrounded by strangers... he could only imagine.
-
After he had exited the room, he stood right outside and stared at the ground, eyes simmering with barely bridled hate. "I don't know." He muttered. "I can't take her if she's scared of me and/or hates me, but I don't think she should go to anyone else..." rubbing his temple, he uttered out a quiet sigh, completely mournful and slightly angry. He heard quiet voices coming from the room Jules was in, so he walked over slowly and peeked inside. Jules was awake, sitting up and rubbing her temple with an oddly familiar look. The medics were fussing over her. One of them noticed him and walked to the door. He stepped back, out of view, to talk to them.
"Her wounds have been taken care of. She will be completely fine and will be free to go in ten or so minutes... the wounds just need regular cleaning. We'll leave you with her." The nurse then gestured for the other nurse to leave.
Letting out a breath, knowing this was inevitable, Leo stepped into the room. Jules looked up, and a split second later, flew off the couch, straight towards him, threw herself into his arms, and broke down sobbing. "I knew you'd come for me! I knew you wouldn't leave me with him forever! I'm so glad you're here." Her sobs of seemingly pure joy and relief grew muffled as she buried her head in his shirt.
Leo stared with shock, other emotions spiking in his mind but mooostly just shock. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her, eyes wide and unbelieving. "...What? What do you mean?" He mumbled, kind of confused as to what was happening.
Jules stopped crying after maybe a minute, collecting herself and finally leaning back. "You don't know? Well, of course you don't know! I don't really remember Mom- only a couple faint memories. I barely remember Timbre at all, only what Rodney told me. He told me that you purposefully killed her and that you were a horrible person and that you killed Mom too, and I believed him at first, but then I found these boxes in our attic. Hundreds and hundreds of photos and videos (we're using this, no questions, I need it xD. Ignore the facts. They are in black and white, though) of you and me and Timbre and Mom! And BOOKS! Journal's! So many of them! I got so good at reading, I could read them when I was 6!" She stopped to look pleased, then continued. "Everyone looked so happy in them- Timbre was so pretty, and Mom was almost ALWAYS laughing, and you were AAAAALWAYS grinning. There wasn't a single photo where you weren't! There were so many videos of you playing with us while Mom watched or you and Mom making jokes and laughing- we all were soooo happy. After I learned to read the journals, I got pulled into all the adventures. It was amazing. Everything was about what you and Mom did at Libodon, and how you defeated ALLLL the Corrupted, Like WHACK WHACK STAB DIE HAHAHA and you were obviously the coolest person there and Mom was ALLLLLWAYS telling you not to do stupid stuff but obviously you never listened. I feel like I got to know BOTH of you super well! When I was 9 Rod found out that I found them and he started screaming at me and beating me and hurting me. I knew he never really cared, but that just ... well, I realized I needed to find a way to find you! Then I did and now we're here!" Jules was positively beaming now, then she finally glanced at Glory. "Who are you? Are you also from Libodon?" She gasped. "Do you fight Corrupted too!? I bet you're NOT AS COOL AS LEO."
Leo stared in dumbfounded amazement as Jules spoke, only snapping out of it when the girl said something to Glory. A laugh of just as amazed shock and delight escaped at her words. "I don't know HOW that happened, but I am so glad I found you when I did." The overwhelming relief that his only living relative actually DID care about him was GREAT, and paired with the fact she was ALREADY SARCASTIC AND AWESOME AND LIKED STABBY THINGS was GODDAMN PERFECT.

"Bingo," Glory said, grinning. Of course he was.

-

"I know, but that doesn't change anything," She said. Not one bit. Her problems were sucky problems too. It sucks, sure, just embrace the suck. "You're the one that appears at just the right moment as though sent by some great being above, does some epic kung-fu shit, and teaches the valuable lesson the life is more than just one long trudge from the cradle to the grave," She said, mostly joking at first, though the last bit was 100% honest. "Isn't that what the dog and I are for? You enact revenge, Lucy and I allow you to do so unhindered." Excellent plan. Then reinforcements get called and Glory and Leo end up right next to a battered and bloodied Rod. "I definitely wasn't normal," Glory snorted. Fair point.
-
"It'll work out. Given how Rodney is, I think even if she's not your biggest fan, she'll put up with you," Glory offered. Excellent words of wisdom. But hey, she wasn't exactly wrong. Gotta pick the lesser of two evils, right? Easy choice when one's an abusive dastardly bastard and the other's a fun uncle whom you've merely been lied to about.
Glory followed Leo, though stayed sort of behind him, one hand on Lucy's back. Lucy tried to throw herself at Leo at the same time the kid did, apparently feeling left out, but Glory grabbed the dog's spiked collar and held her back, much to Lucy's dismay. Jules' reaction was way better than anyone could've hoped for, and Glory found herself grinning happily. She listened to the kid's story- she seemed wonderful, smart, kind, and probably most importantly, a free thinker. Not just some dumb twat who believed whatever they were told, no questions asked. Glory let out a laugh at Jules' questions, and said, "Ah, okay, well, I'm Glory; yes; yes; annnd that's for you to decide." Who was cooler depended mostly on the day, really, so Jules could figure that one out for herself. "Oh, and this is Lucy," She added, releasing Lucy's collar. The dog happily trotted over, immediately launching a violent attack... of the tongue. Very slobbery. One cannot be sure, but licking and wet willies without the middleman might go against the Geneva Convention.

Leo chuckled quietly at her words, shaking his head. "If Rod is ever let out of that prison, he'll wish he wouldn't have been. That's all I can say." He could not even begin to describe what he wanted to do to that wretched man. The guy deserved to hiave his skin melted off. Slowly. By the sun.
"You were not." he agreed. That was something they could agree on with no arguing- they were both very far from normal. VERY far. Normal didn't even begin to cover what they could possibly be.
-
"I didn't think Rod was ever bad to her. If I would've known..." His knuckles whitened again and he debated going back in there, ripping the bars apart, and ripping Rodney in half. "I would've never let him keep her." He would've wrestled her away from that goddamn moron if he had the chance. If he knew what was going to happen. He still didn't know how ANYONE could do that to their own daughter.
Jules grinned at Glory. "I like you already. Are you two married? How old ARE you, even? Leo must be AAAANCIENT by now." She broke down giggling right afterward, but composed herself quickly. "I will decide that. Within a month. For sure. You look cool, too. I may be biased, but that could change." The girl smirked before practically squealing with pleasure at Lucy's attack. Giggling maniacally, the kid ruffled the dog's fur. "Nice to meet you, Lucy,." She chirped, looking for all the world like the happiest kid to ever exist. Since the dog had practically knocked her over, she clambered back to her feet. "Please tell me we get to leave and I never have to see Rod again." She scowled slightly. "wait- no- if I do, can I stab him?" The child lit up like a christmas tree.
Leo pinched the bridge of his nose, brain still catching up. "I am not ancient, thank you very much. Nevermind AAAANCIENT. We aren't married yet, and obviously I am cooler." he sniffed, then his brows drew together at her question. "NO. You aren't ever going to see him again, for one, and for two, there will be no stabbing on your end involved." He instructed, glancing out. "I believeeeee we can go, but are you sure you're... up for the walk back? It's about (3-5?) miles." He said slowly, already contemplating how this was ever going to work. Ah yes, wake up one morning thinking you'd never see your neice again and the next thing you know, you have to take her to a place that wasn't exactly safe with no preperation whatsoever. Greaaaat idea.

"We'll make sure he isn't. I can always frame him for arson or something, if you'd like," Glory offered with a smile only rivaled by the Grinch himself. Not arson, though, no, crime brulee. Or instead of framing him, though it could still work, just burn down the jail where he's kept. He could still be framed, as it'd be sort of a murder-suicide.

"If you would've known, anything you did could've just made things worse for her. Or she wouldn't understand and just hate you," Glory said, quietly but firmly. A young kid might feel that something is just off in their home, but not know that what's going on isn't normal, then you try to take them away from all they'd ever known, and it causes problems. Or Rodney could've gotten a restraining order and then had Leo arrested for whatever dumb shit he comes up with.
Glory smiled back. "Ditto, kid. Um, not yet," She paused to think about the next question and was none too pleased with the answer. "We-ell, what's today, September 18th? Which means I'll be 26 in like... 3 weeks." 20 days, to be exact, but yeah. All too soon. "So he's 29 already." Damn. That made Glory feel older than Charlemagne. She looked down at herself skeptically, then back at Jules. "I look cool? What's your idea of cool? Like... murdery? Or 8th grader cool?" Well, the best phrase Glory'd ever heard used to describe her was she's beauty, she's grace. She'll punch you in the face, and one might agree that that made her cool, so sure.
At Jules' request to stab Rod, Glory hid her snicker behind her hand, so as to not encourage the child. "Leaving sounds like a good idea," She said, nodding. It wasn't TOO terribly far, and Jules was what, 10, 11? She could probably do it. Besides, she'd be safe enough at Libobon. A fucking fortress full of well-trained individuals? It was better than her previous living arrangement, that's for sure.

"No, I'd prefer he's let out of the prison." An evil glint flickered in his eye. "He doesn't deserve to sit and rot. That's too easy." Plus, there was a chance he might get out and not pay, then. He'd much prefer Rodney deader than a doorknob.
-
"But now she's hurt because of me." Leo rubbed his forehead with a sigh. All in all, this was his fault. Then again, many things were, and he hadn't died of guilt yet. What was a little more pain.
He watched Jules carefully with an odd little smile on his face. Talk about energetic- she was like a human Lucy. He didn't think she could talk any faster. "29 does make me sound ancient." He muttered with a wince, rubbing the back of his neck. How had they both survived this long. It was a good thing they had, though, because otherwise... Jules would've been in an even tighter situation right now.
The little girl sniffed. "Obviously murdery." She scoffed as if that was the most obvious thing in the entire world. Like, looking cool could mean covered in blood or leather, take your pick.
Leo shook his head with veiled amusement and stalked out the room's door, towards the exit. He didn't need to talk with any more people. He opened the door for Glory, Lucy, and Jules, then turned towards the dirt road that led away from the town. "Let's start our walk, then."

"Mm, true. No rent, free food. We'd just have to hope other inmates beat him up," Glory said. Oh darn, just gotta kill him. So many delightful ways to do it, so hard to choose! It had to be slow and painful, ideally taking weeks for him to die, suffering every single second, seeming to drag on for years.

"No," She stated firmly. "Some things just have to happen... had I had someone to come 'rescue' me, I wouldn't have learned independence, nor gotten the idea that I needed to come here. Then I'd never have met you, and would probably have died seven years ago," She reasoned. Twas just a canon event. Yeah. Maybe an unfortunate turn of events as well, sure, but still. Had to happen.
"No it doesn't," Glory argued, "it makes you sound old and wise." Because old and wise was what he was going for. Like Gandalf. But even more badass and murdery pokey stabby and handsome. Gandalf with a sword and an attitude.
"Mm, I see. I accept that, then," Glory mused. Very murdery.
She was happy to be leaving, especially with Rod behind bars - for now - and Leo by her side. She took his hand in hers, Lucy running her usual circles. "Today would be a good day for Mud Pit. Good weather," she mused quietly. It'd been a while since the last one, though Glory's participation may not be a good idea. Especially since Leo basically tried to outlaw her getting badly injured, rebreaking her partially healed ribs would definitely fall under that category. Ooh, and Halloween was coming up soon, the one holiday Glory took seriously. She always dressed up as something fucking terrifying, and for... what, 8 years now?.. had been holding a costume contest at the academy, for most creative and horrifying costume. Cutesy shit wasn't allowed. Winner got a bigass bowl of candy. It was fun.

"The inmates would never beat him up well enough for him to pay the price." Leo scoffed, shaking his head. He had a couple.. thousand murderous thoughts swimming through his mind right now, but he felt like he wanted to end with filleting the bastard. Maybe start by cutting off their nose just to jusitfy how ugly their mug was.

"Well, it is already done, so there's nothing we can change now. Maybe she'll grow up mentally ill and meet a badass guy as well." He joked with a half smile, trying to ignore the twisting anger at Rod. He could deal with that later. Right now, Jules was what mattered, and he didn't need her knowing what he was going to do to her father.

"It makes me sound geriatric." He snorted dramatically. "And old and wise doesn't sound ANY better than ancient." He pointed out with a sniff. "Old and wise makes me sound like a wrinkly guy with a long white beard that relies on a cane- cough, STAFF OF WISDOM, to walk, because my knees have so much arthritis I can't move." He rolled his eyes. No, he wasn't old and wise, nor geriatric, and he was going to stop thinking about it now.

Leo nodded slightly at the comment about the Mud Pit, then quickly fixed her with a glare. "But that is not happening. You are still recovering." He huffed. ANd probably would be for the next year.

Jules walked happily beside Lucy, hand almost always on the dog's back, tangled crimson hair bouncing on her back as she walked with a cheery little bounce. "I can't wait to see Libodon. I've heard SO much about it. Oh by the way, is it true you guys can turn into DRAGONS?" She gasped.

Leo glanced at her. "Yesssss. Likely you will be able to as well, by the time you turn 18, anyway." He responded. "More likely around 16, though." (If I remember correctly, that was the gap... I think xD)

"That's only if I manage to keep my ass outta jail, though. I've got a LOT against me- theft, attempted murder, first, second, and third-degree murder.. arson... possession of illegal substances.. to name a few," Glory admitted with a sheepish grin. Yeah, not really a good thing. Buuut, it's only a crime if you get caught, which Glory had not. Yet. Knock on wood.

"Exa- heyy. I turned out just fine," Glory huffed, trying and partly failing to suppress a grin. Just fine by who's standards? Right. So basically absolutely not sane whatsoever, though she'd always say I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it, which was true, especially since damn near every minute was spent with Leo.

"Hey now, you DO have a cane - a sick fuckin' one, might I add - and I imagine with how much I stress you out you'll be totally grey by thirty-five," She countered. The arthritis part, though? Hard to say. He kinda already walked like it, though it was more of soft tissue damage. Tis merely a scratch. A scratch? Your arm's off! No it's not.

"Who said you get to make that choice for me?" Glory protested, though he was right. It'd be best not to risk more trauma to her ribs and winding up with a punctured lung, internal bleeding, and the death that she barely escaped before. "If no Mud Pit, what do you expect me to do all day?" She asked. Ah, very little that involved staying sober, should Glory be given the choice.

(Bingo, 16 to 19. After that you're mindless and then a slave or servant :3)
