Name | Coyote

Name Pronunciation* | Kai-oh-tee, although regions vary on pronunciation.

Breed | Mustang Crossbreed. The sire was a gangly thoroughbred released into the wilderness after the initial owner was unable to provide adequate care.

Age | 4 years, 3 months.

Gender | Mare - Female

Appearance | Standing around 14.1hh, with a lean, scruffy body, Coyote probably best suits the ‘wild’ look. She took on her sire’s finer boned conformation, but retained her dam’s smaller size, deep chest, and strong legs. She’s certainly not the slowest of the bunch, but is able to go for long distances at a faster pace. However, she is not the smoothest horse, and tends to move a bit like a fish, with a swaying, jerky motion. Her mane and tail are short and coarse, with clean legs and a near-perpetually dirty coat. | Coyote’s coloring makes her fairly recognizable. She is a flaxen red dun, with bold, reddish primitive markings that cause barring on the legs, a stripe across her withers and shoulders, and a dark head and legs. Her dorsal stripe is somewhat lackluster when compared to the rest of the dun expression. Across her withers and right above the dock of her tail are two small patches of white, showing off her minimal tobiano. Both markings leave a few white strands in the mane and tail, but nothing more. She has a large snip that spans from nostril to nostril, and four white socks. (Can provide drawing if needed.)

Temperament | Coyote certainly fits her name, often interpreted to mean ‘clever’ or ‘trickster’. She’s known to bluff charge or snap at others, especially when agitated, but quickly runs away before she gets too much of a reprimand. She will actually strike if pushed far enough, but that takes a bit. When she runs away, she usually comes back, even if it's to nip and irritate the other, slowly breaking down their composure. Perhaps it’s like a game to her, or she enjoys the rush of it. Whatever the reason, she’s not very high in the herd hierarchy, and she uses her position how she pleases. | When she’s not being an irritant to others, she’s often playful and excitable, easily getting ahead of herself. It's easy to distract Coyote, which can make her a bit spookier than normal.

Strengths

Versatile | Coyote can do pretty much anything, and so long as she gets something of a say in it, she’ll throw her whole heart into it. Not being specialized in any one thing, she’s a jack of all trades.

Quick Thinking | Although this comes with downsides, Coyote’s quick thinking makes her a good horse to rely on. She’s not one to panic and freeze, but rather, to make a decision and go with it, trusting whoever she is with to either follow or not. She is an intelligent creature, and will always try and make sure everyone survives, even if it means she puts them in danger to get there.

Curious | Coyote is naturally curious and eager to learn, which can make training a bit easier. Although it can get her into trouble, she’s usually able to assess the situation before it gets too bad.

Weaknesses

Independent | Coyote is strong-willed and independent, resulting in the mare sometimes ignoring commands to do her own thing. If halted in time, she may throw a bit of a hissy fit, but will usually listen more, even if she does it her own way.

Reactive | Coyote often has big opinions on what should be happening. If she gets into a situation that she either doesn’t like or scares her, she may go based on instinct, doing something without a second thought. While this may result in a strong bond with the trainer, it can sour just as easily.

Arrogant/Brash | Coyote tends to act big and come in hot, doing something or taking a step without thinking it fully through. Although intelligent, her curiosity sometimes gets the better of her, and she starts to become the horse equivalent of arrogant. It’s easy for Coyote to think she’s going great and then throw a tantrum when she finds out she’s not.

Training/Skill Level

Beginner.

Coyote is a wild caught individual, and has very minimal human interaction. Although a beginner could try to tackle her due to her curious nature, it would probably be better for someone with more experience to take her on. She’s easily imprintable at her age, and will react in kind with how she is treated.

Kin* | A half brother, Jackal. A year younger, same dam, different sire. Bay dun with a large bald face.

Sire | Chestnut stallion. Thoroughbred, released into the wild. Deceased.

Dam | Bay dun tobiano mare. Mustang. Unknown whereabouts.

Affiliations

Jackal | Colt. Half brother, crippled in the front right leg. Cannot move quickly, its a miracle he's still alive. Coyote can be found with him when the outlaws first find the horses. (Outlaws may choose what to do with him, I give free reign.)

Whiskey | An old, bay mare with a blaze and two hind socks. She befriended Jackal and Coyote, and is sort of a pseudo-mother to them, even after they were expelled from their birth herd. Currently in foal, although I will determine if she or the foal survive based on how I feel at the time.

Other

As per usual for most wild horses, Coyote was driven away from her birth herd at around 3 years old. The only reason she was not taken by a bachelor or another band was due to her wandering way and her attitude. After finding Whiskey and Jackal, she wandered until finding this group of horses.

Name: Lucifer

Age: 6

Gender: stallion

Appearance: Lucifer is a nice stocky kind. He is strong and a good runner. He has a nice shiny coat and has nice gaits he has blue eyes that look purple.

breed: quarter horse cross warmblood.

Temperament: Lucifer is a kind horse even though he sometimes seems mean. He is verry protective of those he cares about. He usually lees to himself but usually says what no one else would, this gets him into trouble a lot. He is an outgoing stallion and gets into trouble a lot. Sometimes he is very playful. T other times he won't talk or interact with anyone.

Lineage: dam (a black paint warmblood mare name unknown) Sire (blue valentine - quarter horse stud)

strengths: Lucifer is a good jumper and is very fast. He has a good work ethic and would protect people and horses he cares about with his life. Great fighter. He is sure footed and will go anywhere even if no other horses will go. He is brave and a natural born leader.

weakness: Lucifer tends to be a bit wild and unpredictable at times. He has an untameable spirit and gets into trouble a lot. Tends to get unsure when with riders due to bad experiences. He excludes himself from other horses in fear of loosing another friend.

Affiliations: (I have no clue what this means but I'll have a crack) he can often be seen by himself but sometimes talks to Picasso or mystery.

training/skill level: he need a confident rider but he will pick who he likes and those he doesn't like won't get to come near him.

other: Lucifer distances himself from others and sometimes bites others. He is deemed dangerous until one stupidly brave person comes near him. (This can be any random outlaw)
