Overview Serenity Equestrian was once a hallowed name within the British show circuit, but time waits for no one. After suffering a slow, painful slip into mediocrity, things took a sudden turn when the then-owner died, leaving it to his niece. Lara Sawyers might not know Serenity, but she does know business. She’s determined to turn back the clock and revive it into a shadow of what it once was – not just a sleepy lesson barn, but a structured, slick competition yard. (Or, at the very least, get it turning a profit quickly enough to sell it before it bankrupts her.) Dust might coat the trophies lining Serenity’s shelves, but its history speaks for itself. With effort and a bit of teamwork, will Serenity manage to put itself back on the map? Location Serenity is well-equipped but certainly outdated. Centred around a stone courtyard, the stables fence it in on either side – two 20-stall barns, with feed and tack rooms at the end. Riders are free to tack up in the barn aisle, in the wash-bays, or wherever they please. Behind the barn lies the arenas. Serenity has 1 large sand arena and 2 dressage arenas, though the latter needs some weeding before being of much use. For the more adventurous, there is (theoretically) a cross-country course through the grass arena and into the turnout fields, although most fences at the moment are too rundown to be operational. Serenity riders have permission to hack on the neighbouring farms, offering almost endless trails. Riders live in the main house, which is compact but sufficient. Vines creep across its chipped white exterior. Historically, the barn manager and stable hands lived in two cottages opposite the barns, but until the heating is fixed, everyone lodges together. Rooms are small, with options of single or double set-ups. Riders are strongly encouraged to spend what little free time they have in the shared living spaces rather than their rooms. Serenity is situated about 15 minutes outside of [insert fictional uk town]. [town] is quaint but well-equipped. Historically, it boasts several favourite weekend jaunts of Serenity’s riders. For those more inclined to a big city, weekend trips to [insert fictional uk city] 40 minutes in the opposite direction are less common but not infrequent. The locals look forward to the return of their beloved riders. Roles Serenity won’t attract the A-circuit showjumpers or 4* eventers like it did in the past. Instead, it invites those licking their wounds. The ones recovering from confidence knocks, those staging a comeback after what should have been a career-ending injury, the attitude-prone troublemakers who just can’t keep a sponsor, or those down on their luck – or their funds. This isn’t to say the former aren’t welcome, but Lara is well aware of what the property can – and can’t – offer at the moment. Some might be town locals who grew up in Serenity’s shadow, or riders who have stuck it out even since the previous owner, but the majority are likely newcomers. Serenity offers a quiet place to land, far from prying eyes or the spotlight of competition. This isn’t to say you won’t be competing, though. As part of re-establishing Serenity as a competitive yard, riders will be expected to show regularly, even if just locally. Extenuating circumstances might exist, in which case you’ll be expected to take a larger brunt of the work riding at home. At Serenity, there is a place for virtually any skill. Work rider, barn manager, instructor, stable hand – even talented teenagers can gain exposure by living on-site, generally for a fee. More often than not, your role will become a mixture of all of the above. Serenity expects everyone to pull their weight, whether that means teaching the odd lesson to the locals, schooling the livery horses, or fixing a broken fence. Time, one soon finds, is rarely left open. |

Full Name: Lenore 'Lux' Sailor Sloane Age: 17 Sexuality: female Pronouns: she/her Role At Serenity: junior rider Riding Experience: lux never made a huge name for herself despite her skill, she had trained colts and showed some AQHA events only making it as far as the youth worlds in western classes and the state regionals for eventing. Discipline(s): eventing, versatility cow horse Reputation: lux is known for being short and sour, she's not a fan of people and prefers to figure things out for herself although she does listen when people are giving her instructions. Most people know her name because she goes to Florida with an ex olympian her family is close with every summer to exercise horses. Appearance: lux could be described in a few sentences at first glance, she has slightly curly strawberry blonde hair with natural blonde highlights, it's cut to her chin with curtain bangs that fade into layers, which is a nightmare to pin up for shows, her roots are a light true blonde that fade into the reddish color. Her eyes are a mix of green hues with a ring of gold around the puiple. She has tanned skin and dark skarsthat litter the skin from hard days of work and clumsy accidents, the most noticeable scars are a long slightly curved arc that runs along her right forearm and the one running parallel under her left cheekbone. Lux has a athletic build, not being too feminine but not extremely masculine either. Personality: lux is a sarcastic witty person, she likes to keep to herself but she still takes the time to add in her two cents or a unnecessary remark, she has a short fuse, and a attitude that is mostly directed towards people who annoy her. Shes always polite to the trainers although she occasionally throws in a sarcastic response to instruction, though it is quite amusing to the older riders to see what she can come up with for a remark at times What brings them to Serenity?: lux had a bad wreck at a horse show, her lease horse landed a oxer and his front left leg just shattered. The horse was put down at the spot and although lux only suffered a fractured sturnum and a concussion she hasn't jumped over three foot since. Backstory: Lux was born on into a horse family, her father trained cow horses and her mother trained pleasure horses. Of course Lux loved riding western, she loved working cattle and practicing the ranch riding patterns, but she had always wanted something more, when she turned 13 she sold her Shetland pony and used the money to buy a cheap grade yearling colt. Lux spemt all of her time training this yearling and when he got old enough she started to event, when she was 16 she sold the colt and leased a different horse who she got into eh accident with and then ended up at serenity. She has a nice long stride and a natural arch to her neck Strengths & Challenges: siren is a very gifted jumper and XC horse, she's practically fearless in that category of eventing, but she struggles with dressage and flatwork as she gets bored easily. Discipline: jumping and XC Experience: siren is still young and in training, she's never been to a actual show, she's only been to small town schooling shows. Turnout/Dietary Requirements (opt): siren gets about four hours of turnout in a shared paddock every day if not she eats the side of her stall or jumps out of the window out of boredom. She gets about about two qaurts of beetpulp based grain and both a flake of alfalfa and a flake of grass hay for forage Relationship With Rider: siren has a love hate relationship with lux, she either climbs up the walls in excitement to see the teen or she becomes a death threat to the teen and everyone within twenty feet. Warner Ray Sinclar / "Ray" or "Warner" Age: 28 Sexuality/Pronouns: Straight / He/him Role At Serenity: Senior Rider (Competitive) Riding Experience: Warner had taken the circuit as far as he could outside of the Olympics, and has tried his hand at anything he could grab hold of. Discipline(s): Eventing, mostly show jumping Reputation: Outside of the show ring, Warner is known as a very kind and hostpiable person. He is always around to lend a helping hand and would give anyone his last dollar if they needed it. In the ring, however, Warner is a very competitive and focused person. He has given his whole life so far to a sport he loves and is passionate about and he wants to show his family their efforts to get him this far were not in vain. Appearance: Warner is fairly average, around 5ft 10. He has the lean, wiry build of someone who’s spent more hours in the saddle than on solid ground. His sun-browned skin freckles at the bridge of his nose, and his dark brown hair is usually messy and has a slight curl at his nape due to long hairs under a helmet. A thin scar runs from his left temple into his hairline, a souvenir from his accident. He walks with a slight limp on the left side. Normally dressed in whatever hoodie or t-shirt he has lying around and dark breeches. Personality: Kind, Focused, Friendly, Energetic What brings them to Serenity?: Warner was reccomended by a rider he knew following his fall. After a few years of recovery and talking with a therapist and trainers about starting to ride competitively again, he considered it was the time to try again. He researched the stable extensively of course, and read reviews from past riders. He didn't know what gave him the final push, just that he was ready to make the move across the world to get back to where he was. Backstory: Warner came from a middle-class family in the southern region of the United States that wanted to give their only child the best they could. His first pony was a lease from a local barn outside of town. He learned alot, especially how to fall, and since then he has almost always been in a saddle. At age 16 his parents saved up some money and gifted him a warmblood colt who he dubbed Miracle. The pair were inseperable, dominanting their local circuits. Through college the pair continued on with his school's equestrian team, and afterwards he went through several internships with top riders as he continued to show. However, following a harrowing accident on a course that led to his hesrt horse passing and him injured, he took a step back to teach younger riders about the importance of safety and caution while riding. Helping others through what he experienced and has overcome is his main goal to avoid anyone else meeting a similar fate. Now a few years later, he has searched for the right barn to return once more to the show ring and reclaim his sport. Gender: Mare Breed: Dutch Warmblood Appearance: Presley is a darker palomino mare, standing roughly 16.3hh tall. Her mane is kept cropped shorter so it's easier to braid and is a pale cream color. She has broken blaze in the shape of a crescent moon, and two socks on her back legs. She is built fairly proportionally with long legs, a delicate head, and an elegant body. Strengths & Challenges: She struggles mostly with her pacing and using her body. Presley is definitely a young and energetic horse, and Warner has found it difficult to reach her to pace herself and slow down when it's important. Similarly, her work with dressage is slow as she tries her best to understand what Warner is telling her but she can't get her body to do what she wants. Otherwise, she seems to love her job and has a true knack for jumping with lots of scope, and her longer legs help give her a comfortable, bouncy trot for dressage. Discipline: Eventing Experience: Mostly smaller shows, she is just starting her big girl career. Turnout/Dietary Requirements (opt): Turnout rotates depending on the season, though normally she is out in the early morning and late evening. She comes inside during the hottest portions of the day. She is on a specific blend for young performance horses and quality hay but Warner sneaks her the more-than-occasional sweet treat for being "such a good girl" and "just a baby" to his past coach's dismay. Relationship With Rider: Close. She finally bonded with him a year after her purchase and now they are as close as they can be for a newer pair. |

Full Name: Wren Brown Age: 19 Sexuality: Staight Pronouns: She/Her Role At Serenity: Competitive Working Rider Riding Experience: Wren began her riding career at 7, and she mostly did short trail rides and english begining lessons for 2 years. After that she was able to move onto more advanced lessons, and by 13 she was pretty good at flat work, and was an intermediate jumper. She suffered a nasty fall at a show, which combined with her starting high school to create the perfect cocktail for her to want to quit. Wren gave up riding till she was 16, when she fell back in love with it. She began to become a lot more serious about riding and is now an advanced eventer and english all-around rider. Discipline(s): Dressage, eventing, show jumping, XC, and flat classes. Reputation: Wren was gaining a decent reputation in the show jumping ring before her fall, has since lost it. As a person, she has a reputation as for keeping to herself, but always offering a smile or kind word to others. Appearance: Wren stands at 5'4, and has a lean build. She has slight muscling in her arms, but not enough for someone to notice if they aren't looking for it. Some would describe her hair as light brown, while others insist it's dirty blonde. Wren prefers to say light brown, just to avoid any awkward conversations. She keeps her lightly wavy hair in a very short bob, around chin length. She has dark brown eye, which contrast with her pale skin. Personality: Above all things, Wren is authentic. She's not the type of person to go with someone to a party if she doesn't want to, or tell someone a lie to make them feel better. She is, however, very kind. Once she meets someone and clicks with them, she's one of the most loyal people you'll meet, often to a fault. If Wren doesn't click with anyone, she tends to stick to herself, after all, she's learned that it's better to be lonley than risk getting hurt. What brings them to Serenity?: After deciding college wasn't the route for her, her parents urged her to find something to do rather than living at home while working a customer service job. Wren scoured the internet, and although it seem that the place had gone downhill, this place in England kept calling her name. The next couple months were spent begging for more shifts, getting a second job, and looking up flight fares to the U.K. When Wren had finally saved up enough for a flight and living expenses, she got on the plane and hasn't looked back since. Backstory: Wren was born on a small island near Finland. Horses were a staple of the community there, but fear always kept her from engaging with them the way the everyone else did. When she finally worked up the courage to ride, she was hooked. Wren was an only child, and her dad wasn't in the picture at that point. Her mom had to work several jobs just to support the two of them, so on weekends and holidays, Wren was always at the stable. She would do odd jobs, and would recive one riding lesson a week, free of charge. She worked her way up to more advanced lessons, and her parents ended up getting back together shortly after her 14th birthday, allowing her to continue advanced lessons when she restarted at 16. Horse: Registered Name: FJ Lost in Time Barn Name: Pinecone Age: 6 Gender: Gelding Breed: Hanoverian Appearance: Deep liver chestnut with a wide blaze that runs into a pink nose, and no other markings. He stands at 16.1 and has light dappling. He is a muscular and lean horse, who is very much fit and ready for work. Strengths & Challenges: Pinecone is still a little bit green, as he wasn't started at all until he was 3, so he still has a decent amount of baby brain. He is a very honest horse, and always tries his best, but is prone to getting bored easily. Pinecone has a very scopey jump, and some potention in the dressage ring, but would need a bit more training than Wren can offer to bring it out. Discipline: Eventing and Show Jumping. Experience: Was started in basic groundwork at 3, and was started undersaddle at 4. He recived basic flatwork and jumping schooling, and was just begining to start jumping more seriously when Wren purchased him. Wren has since introduced him to cross country, and he's been to several schooling shows.
