Background and Intro>>

Welcome to WLEA, based in Glucestershire the home of the most elite and tough competitive eventers in the world. We offer state of the art facilities, such as a 28 stall barn with washbays, a water treadmill and solariums. WLEA has 10 different paddocks suited for different horses’ needs, an amazing 30x60 sand indoor arena, a long cross country trail with all sorts of jumps and an outdoor 50x90 sand arena. We also have on-site apartments for the riders, one for the girls and another for the boys. The apartments are equipped with 2 bedrooms, a dining room, a lounge, a kitchen. You will all have a roommate, the boys with each other and the girls with each other. WLEA has a very selective process when it comes to our team and recruit riders age 18-25 from all over the world. Coached by 2 times Badminton winner and gold medalist Wren Cress and her 4* husband Roy Cress.

————————————————————————————————————————

WLEA understands that some of our international students aren’t able to bring their eventing horses and we do have lease horses available for your time in the academy.

Our eventers (if interested put on your sign-up forms)

Growing Hope “Hope”: Hope is a 9 year old 16.2 grey Thoroughbred x Warmblood mare. She is very well schooled with an amazing attitude and always tried her heart out.

Billy Dash “Dash”: Dash is a 11 year old 16.3 seal bay AES mare. Dash is on the hotter side and can be difficult in the dressage ring but nevertheless she is a dream out on the cross country course.

Act Of Glory “Ari”: Ari is a 6 year old 15.3 dark bay Thoroughbred mare. Ari is one of the youngest on the team but is very mature and has a brilliant mind with so much potential.

Copin's Boy “Copin”: Copin is a 16 year old 17 hand chestnut Sport Horse gelding. Copin is the most seasoned horse on the team and has competed internationally, he is suitable for any rider and has the kindest heart in the whole world.

Tottingham Hall "Tottie": Tottie is a fine-boned 6 year old 15.2 sleet grey Arab X mare. Tottie is extremely smart and an incredible thinker with lots of scope, she does struggle with confidence over some cross country jumps and needs a very confident rider.

Blue Veloce "Blue": Blue is a short, cheeky 12 year old Connemara X with a bright bay coat. Blue is the most recent addition to the team and we are still figuring him out, a patient rider would suit him best.

Rules:

Please, please, please be respectful. Its not that much effort to make everyones day a little easier

Everyone gets the maximum of riders at 2 and 1 for inside characters (Listed below)

Rider>>
Full name: Ally Rose Santoro
Nickname: Ally and sometimes AL
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Appearence: Ally has long, wavy black hair that is usually braided or tied up due to its length. She's quite a small character at about 145cm and has been since birth. Ally has sharp ice blue eyes and small lips which are usually dry from all the riding in the summer.
Personality: Ally is quite a "living on the edge" kind of person and seldom has a plan for any sort of idea on what she's doing. Life goals are really just: don't fall off the oversized llama. She likes making jokes to lighten the mood and is always happy to help others.
Allergies: Tree nuts
Riding History: Ally started riding when she was 4 at her local pony club and got her first ever pony at age 5, though sadly the pony passed away 5 years later. Her dream was always to be a top eventer and started competing at BE's the second she could. By 11 years old she was competing on her lease mare at BE90's. She sadly missed a whole season due to her lease mare showing up with a tendon injury. For her 12th birthday she got another horse, Hollywood who she still competes on today, and qualified for the BE90 at Badminton Grassroots (she came 9th). Things were going smoothly until she had a bad fall at her first 100 and broke her leg. It was touch and go for a couple months afterward and her parents werent sure about her competing at higher levels, though luckily Ally's trainer convinced them. The next 100 went well and she went on to ride the BE100 at Badminton and came in the top 10. By 14 she was doing BE120's and trying to start 1 star eventing. Fast forward to her 18th birthday and she was at 3 star. Things got even better when she got into Blenheim International. She is currently a 3*CCIL eventer
Pet Peeves: Overworking your horses and leaving tack lying around
Interests: Ally enjoys art as well
Horse>>
Show name: HD Hollywood
Barn name: Hollywood
Age: 14
Gender: Stallion
Apearence: Hollywood is a sleek, fineboned chestnut with small socks on each fetlock and one large sock on his hock. He stands at 16.3 hands high with a very nice topline. Hollywood is an OTTB.
Personality: Despite being a stallion he is very well manered and has no vices. Hollywood has a very kind heart and always tries his absolute best. One issue he does have is windsucking which comes from his time on the racetrack. He always takes everything in his stride and is incredibly brave on the cross country course.
Linege: Hollywood is sired by British racehorse Haafd and his dam is Sightseek, an American broodmare in Kentucky.
History: I'm to lazy but i'll add something later
Other: Windsucks

Love this! I'll leave my character here.
Rider:
Full name: María Fernanda Rossi.
Nickname: Fer.
Gender: Female.
Age: 22
Appearance: She's on the taller side of the average woman, standing near 1.70 m. Her chocolate curls fall just above her waist and she makes sure to always keep her hair braided around the horses. She's had a piece chewed off once or twice in her early years. She has a heart shaped face, with round cheeks and only one dimple on her right cheek. Her eyes are dark, near black one could say, and so small they shut almost completely when she laughs. Her nose shows her Italian heritage, being quite large in comparison to the rest of her face. Her lips are quite thin and with a very pronounced cupid's bow. She usually smiles without teeth, but when she shows them, they have a distinctive gap between the two middle lower incisors.
Personality: Bold, but the kind of bold that does a spreadsheet in her head beforehand. She will take risks as long as she has contemplated all the negative outcomes. She trusts her gut and the facts in the same measure. Socially, she can come across as too friendly, even for the extroverts. In a conflict, she tends to panic and stay quiet; then, when she's calmer, the things she could have said pop up in her head.
Allergies: None.
Riding History: Born and raised in Argentina, Fernanda initially fell in love with horses when she was four. The pony fever caught her through the movies and animated series; her parents had to hear all about it daily. She was twelve when she finally convinced her parents to pay for lessons at a small riding school just outside the city. It quickly became her whole life. She spent every afternoon after school with the horses, even if her family couldn't afford lessons every day; just being here was heaven to her. The next year her instructor allowed her to jump her first vertical, expecting her to slowly start showing. But Fernanda had other plans: she had caught a glimpse of a Cross Country round on the Olympics and the image of the rider soaring over bushes was implanted in her brain forever. When she mentioned the discipline to her instructor, they recommended going the safer way; they even had a serious talk with her parents.
Fer put her head down and continued jumping for two years, going up the levels at an accelerated pace. At 16, she put together a presentation and begged her parents to take on Eventing again. They couldn't say no when she showed up with a hundred pages of research on safety measures, including safety vests and modern helmets. There weren't any Cross Country courses where she lived, so her family moved to the country's capital city, hoping it was full of opportunities for their daughter. There, she did everything to better herself as an equestrian and to earn money: she worked as a stablehand for her new instructor, groomed for a few riders when the stable hosted shows, clipped horses in winter and enrolled on a farrier course at a local university. When the opportunity to ride a horse co-owned by her instructor came up, she took it without thinking. The idea was to get some wins under his girth in order to put him up for breeding later. The stallion was well-behaved but finicky; one wrong move and you're eating the sand. He also got easily distracted by other horses, so getting him to focus on the fences in front of him wasn't easy.
After ten years of never quitting thanks to her parents' support, and together with her instructor's stallion, she managed to become the fifth best Eventing rider in her country. But she doesn't see a future there anymore, so now shes ready to fly away and learn elsewhere. And although she always thought she started riding too late to ever be someone in the sport, she's ready to challenge herself.
Pet Peeves: Horses with zero turn out and poor saddle fit.
Interests: Other than horses being her main obsession since she was a child, Fer is an avid reader and can be seen with a book under her arm at all times. Sometimes it's fiction, others cooking, and, of course, half the time it's horse related.
Other: She will need to lease a horse on site, she's fine with any of them

Full name:

Anderson Jones Smithfield

Nickname:
Andy or Jones

Gender:

Male

Age:

22

Appearance:

Andy stands at around 6'1 and weighs around 180 pounds. He has dark brown, wavy hair that fluffs out over his forehead and the tip of his ears (almost shaggy like). He has light green eyes with a small hazel ring in them and his face is sprinkled with freckles from being out in the sun too much. His skin has a nice medium tan to it. He can usually be found in his riding clothes (tan leggings, a dark colored riding shirt, black belt, and back tall boots) or when he's relaxing, he jsut tends to wear some nice boot cut jeans and a normal tee. His face usually has a dark expression on it or a RBF is what it really is. Though while he is riding, it seems to lighten up slightly.

Personality:
Andy can come across as extremely standoffish a lot times, he doesn't like to get told what he is doing wrong or how he needs to fix something. He is definitely hard headed and a bit petty at times. It doesn't take much to get his blood boiling, escpecially if it is something about his beloved mare. So, for those reasons he tends to be a bit more reserved. On a completely other note, when he doesn't seem to be in a bad mood, he is definitely a gentleman and share his knowledge with others. When he sees someone struggling, he will offer friendly advice or a helping hand. To those he is comfortable around, he can actually be sweet and understanding.

Allergies:

N/A

Riding History:

Andy grew up with horses basically flowing out of his pocket. His mother (Abigail Elizabeth Smithfield) and his father (Micheal Prescott Smithfield) owned a very well known training business called "Smithfield Equestrian Center" in a town located in South Dakota. So, he basically grew up riding on a horse constantly. While he was at his parents training facility he had the opportunity to train with a couple of elite trainers that got him to a pretty high level in his life. Whenever he outgrew one horse, he already had another horse bought to help him further along his training but now he was bored of having the same trainers and seeing the same courses everyday. He needed a new step into a right direction so he enrolled for the World Longines Eventing Academy, hoping it could bring him and his mare to the next level of training.

Pet Peeves:

Unclean tack, cheap items, not highly taken care of horses, and messy spaces

Interests:

Andy really enjoyes going on runs as it helps him to keep his head clear from a lot of things. He also enjoy lighting storms, it always fascinates him how the lighting dances across the sky (Even though his mare hates it).

Other:

There is also long scare along the back of his right knee from an ACL injury after an accident he had while riding, it causes him to have a slight limp when he's exhausted. During lightning storms, he will go sit out with his mare at the barn to help keep her calm while the storm passes.

Show name:

The Devils Advocate

Barn name:

Ace

Age:

7

Gender:

Mare

Appearance:
Ace is an Andalusian that stands at 16.2 hands. She has a long flowing mane and tail that start out as grey but quickly grows into black. Her coat is a shiny dark grey with lots of dapples that seem to make her fade into white as some spots, as well as her ears and legs are black.

Personality:
Ace is a complete hot head of a mare (Just like her owner), she is great at listening but once she learns what a drill is, she wants to get it done by herself without instructions. At times she can be a complete anxious mess when she isn't understanding a drill and tends to bolt to get out of the confusion at times. During competition, she seems to hold herself together a bit better and loves to compete, always celebrating the end jump with a bronc. On trail rides, she is a completely different horse, she always is relaxed and chewing at her bit and couldn't seem to be bothered by anything.

FamilyLineage:

Her sire was "Devils Man", a wellrounded dressage competition horse from Australia and her dame was "Whispering Rain", who was a famous eventing horse in South Dakota.

Offspring:

N/A

History:

Ace was breed to be an olympic level dressage horse but as they started her training at 3 years old, they quickly turned to see that she was disliked anything to do with Dressage. She always turned into a complete bronc or sprinter whenever a person would try to collect her up a ton to do bending or any low level dressage work. So, she was sold from her place in Australia and the Smithfields had her shipped over to North America and to their facility. That's when Andy laid his eyes on her, it didn't take long for him and her to connect as they were one in the same. Andy understood her and she could tolerate him for the most part. As she did her training, he moved her slowly from dressage work to jumping and cross country work, which she excelled at.

Other:

Ace has an extreme fear of lighting storms and dressage whips.

Nickname: Cass
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Apearance: Caspian is relativitly small with a stocky build and doesnt weigh all to much. He was messy black hair that falls just over his eyes. He has deep chocolate brown eyes and quite thick eyelashes. Caspian is pretty tanned with light freckling over his nose. He is usually found in his jods and a sweatshirt, no matter the weather.
Personality: Caspian can come off as shy outside of the arena and when he isnt training he's sitting alone with his horse and a good book. He's bold on the cross country course and quiet in the dressage arena. Caspian always has his riders best interest at heart and will give them good feedback despite it not being what they want to hear.
Allergies: NA
Riding history: Caspian grew up in Kentucky on his parents Sport Horse breeding facility and had horses flowing out of their barns, waiting for him. He took on a career as an eventer and competed until 4* level before retiring after a job offer to teach the Cross Country class at LWEA.
Pet Peeves: Not wiping down the girth after a ride, getting polo wraps full of hay and unorganised tackrooms
Other: Caspian is the owner of two schoolhorses, Blue and Ari and takes a special interest to their riders. He rides one of his youngsters at the school.
Horse

Personality: Rio is quite an anxious horse and is always seeking aproval from his rider. Because of his age he has only competed up to BE90's and has done a couple 1m showjumping competitions. He gets quite a lot of anxiety during shows which is why Caspian decided to take him to WLEA.
Family Lineage: Rio's sire is a Hanovarian who has competed up 3* events and international 2*s. His dam is also a Hanovarion, though she does have some Arab blood in her, that was an incredible dressage mare before her reitirement.

Goal: Hoping to go to her first 1*
Colors: Red, Yellow, White
Role: Rider
Personality: Flora is a bubbly and happy young woman. She's always eager to do anything with horses and wants to be first in line. She's not always fussed about mucking stalls, but it beats not being around horses - and she knows riding is the smallest part of working with horses. She's a dedicated rider and game for anything. Flora enjoys being in the barn participating in whatever is going on, even if that means organizing; feed lists, inventory, and schedules all don't stand a chance when she's tasked to do it. Which is all ironic when looking at her life away from the barn - Flora is chaos: Her house is barely clean, laundry is a perpetual heap, and she's lucky if she is wearing a clean shirt and deodorant the first time she attempts to leave. She will always make time for others and do everything she can to help - whether it's solving problems or doing something special for someone else, or taking an extra five minutes to clean up and put things away. Unfortunately she has a bit of Imposter Syndrome when riding and doesn't always feel like she has adequate ability, especially when surrounded by so many elite riders. When she does ride, it brings her so much joy and happiness.
History: Flora grew up with horses - her grandparents had a farm down the road, and nobody could keep her out of the pastures. Instead of scolding her, the farm owners let her in and taught her about horses, sparking her passion. From weekly lessons, to Pony Club, and countless weekends spent competing - the horse bug bit her hard. Fortunately her grandparents supported this habit, but instilled within her that she had to work, and work hard, for horses. She never owned a horse, always work-leasing, or begging rides. She went to University and managed to make it on the equestrian team. After school, she knew that all she wanted was being in the horse world. Starting as a working student, she made her way up to head groom for the top regional eventer. She was able to train some of the young horses and snapping up catch rides for clients. Any clinic she could attend, she was there, even if she couldn't ride.
Finally after so many years saving, she was able to buy Peregrine and is loving every minute.

Personality: The perfect amateur horse - he totally takes care of his rider. He's kind and patient when his rider makes mistakes, very forgiving in the moment. He's rather content doing whatever - whether that's several hours in the crossties getting the full Spa treatment experience (and the countless treats), or spending the day out on the trail or in the hunt field. He's so low maintenance that he falls asleep in the crossties being pampered, or ringside waiting for his turn in the show. Pragmatic can be a fun ride for any rider - he has the athletic ability to go out and tackle the cross country field.
History: Imported by an upper level event rider when they went to the UK for potential young horses. Was in the event program for a bit and sold to an older couple who wanted to own an event horse while being ridden by the competitive eventer. He started being lackluster under saddle for flatwork, struggling with the higher standards, and being worn out by long conditioning sessions. He just wasn't enjoying the job. He was sold and placed in the barn Flora was working at, as a chance for him to see if a different program worked. Flora fell in love with his puppy-dog personality. It was about a year later that he was able to be bought by her, and now he's happy to compete at her level, and get all the love and affection from one person.

Competing: Competing Prelim [Novice] | SJ 1.10 | Second Level
Training: Intermediate: Third Level Dressage movements half pass and flying changes, and managing balance and tempo in the counter canter | SJ working towards 1.20 but comfortably at 1.15m.
Goal: Finding top ten success in a 2** CCI-S
Colors: Black, Grey, & Red
Role: Rider
Personality: A bit on the arrogant side - Grey likes things done right, or situations to go his way. He doesn't like it when people negatively affect his life - having to clean up someone else's mess just to get on with his own life. He's more reactionary than proactive about things. Show Jumping is his element - he's quick to find an answer to the questions asked; able to do fast calculations in mid air. He loves a good challenge, but is typically not a team player.
History: Greyson grew up riding at a young age (6) with the local Pony Club. He found passion tackling Cross Country courses and Eventing. He also enjoys the thrill of Foxhunting and racing. As a teen he worked and rode at a barn where the trainer was harsh and demanded greatly from his students and horses. Not knowing a different way - Grey thought the rough treatment and heavy workload was completely normal. He was a harsh but effective rider - not going out of his way to abuse a horse, but not accepting "no". Wanting to pursue being a Horse Trainer - as a 17 year old, he imported his first horse (after having a couple years of training and riding for clients) to try his hand at horse sales. Faith (Ransom Note) was a large reason why Greyson refocused his horsemanship methods - when another local trainer caught him being rough with the young filly and gave him a talking to (and a new technique that was non-violent - achieving better success than previous in a shorter time frame). Grey went to University for an equine science degree (and to learn a bit about business) - and later was able to connect with trainers and teachers who greatly influenced him to listen to the horse, and work differently. From there he was able to achieve great heights with Eventing and his riding.
While he is unable to bring his younger mare (Faith) to WLEA, he is bringing a client's horse that he's been riding for a year and a half.

Strengths: Tactical & Energetic | Eager to work
Weaknesses: A handful in hand and under saddle; likes it to be her idea; either on it or good luck
Likes: Working; Gallops; a Job; Cross Country
Dislikes: Other horses; Nothing & Everything - it's perfect until it's not
Sire: Koningsdag
Dam: Meriment
Stall: ##
Turnout: Individual Turnout
Owner: K. Duvain
Personality: Glee is young and hot stuff. She's fast and opinionated. At first, Glee and Greyson butted heads - it took a few ugly rides to finally settle into a cohesive rhythm. She lives up to the word Spicy! Unfortunately because of her fiery personality - she's a prime candidate for ulcers. There are times where she won't eat because she's too busy worrying about what's going on. She enjoys going out in the pasture but after a couple hours will be found fence walking demanding to be brought back in. Her happiest place is when she's in work. Having a job and a purpose gives her focus. The only time she's too exhausted to care much is after a hard cross country school or a horse trial. Glee is bold, and a bit as reckless as her rider can be when faced with a tough problem - but she's fearless and won't say no. She has just as much grit and determination as he does.
History: Jubilee is the product of thoughtful breeding with proven 5* sire and a dam who scored well in eventing until an injury took her out of competition at fourteen and produced several nice young event horses. Unfortunately Glee just came out a bit spicier than the others. She was a handful at just a couple hours old and from there on was a headcase. She had tons of talent and potential - jumping anything in sight even as a foal, but the behavior became destructive. When she was finally backed, she tossed just about everyone on the property. The grooms all thought she was a nightmare and her owners were tired of paying medical bills for their trainers. Greyson found her at her second sale barn where it was rumored that she was becoming a menace to all. It wasn't the unicorns and rainbows moment between the two on the first, second, or fifth ride - but Grey was persistent (bullheaded stubborn more like) but once it was found that she just needed a job and was talented on the cross country field - they became partners. It wasn't hard to let a financial backer take over the bills while he still maintains control over her training and care.
