So I have PPE filly who was 3 up week 4, and I have a EEE filly who was 1 up week 4, when I go to breed them will my 3 up filly have a better chance of throwing higher rated foals even though she is rated weaker? They are full sisters.

The Training sadly has nothing to do with the producing of a pair!
Breeding 2 horses together is pure luck ofcorse a EEE & EEE will have a higher chance of producing a EEE then a PPE & EEE together.

Wow! And here I have always thought that there was a correlation between the stats/training of the horse and their ratings! In that case what determines the rating of the horse? Just the ratings of the parents?

The parents ratings and random factor. If you breed two EEE's together, you'll very rarely get lower than an SSS, typically PSP or above. Random factor plays a part in determining ratings too as it makes it possible to get the variety of ratings out of two parent horses and helps decide the foals rating.

So in theory you could breed lower rated horses that were stronger and showed better than higher rated horses that didn't train for crap and were weak?

Don't forget that training is not the be all and end all of how strong a horse is. A horse can train up in all six bars on W8 and still not be a strong as a horse who trained up in five on the same week. There is a little bit of an RF to training as well.

Not necessarily, no. Better rated horses typically produce better than horses rated lower than them. So don't expect an EEE from two "strong" PPPs. It's all relative to the ratings themselves, not the system as a whole
