What are the benefits of either gelding a stallion or purchasing a gelding instead of a mare or stallion?

Geldings train faster than mares or stallions, so they are in the money for showing faster.

As stated above they train faster therefore are able to show more often. Also by gelding it helps to clean up the game so to speak of so so or poor producing studs that flood the market.
