If you have a filly entered in a SD futurity but she has AD ratings do you change her training for the first year to the futurity discipline? Even though that will mess up her tracking for future breeding?

I've read that breeding knns for ratings is harder than other breeds? But I assume anything under a PPP is still not worth keeping back for breeding?

Thanks!

KNNs are the most restrictive breed in terms of what is considered a KNN. So if your colt has at least one Lp and at least one PATN (1 or 2), then it's a KNN. If not, it's a Sport Horse even if both parents are KNN. Fillies just need to have one Lp gene to be KNN, they don't need a pattern.
What this means is that:
1) Genetic testing is a good idea so you have some inkling of your chances for a match to produce KNN instead of SH.
2) There are fewer KNN in the game simply because you're not guaranteed a foal of that breed even if both parents are purebred.

I wouldn't think the population is so small that anything with an S would be acceptable for breeding, unless you have an E in at least one area and are using the horse for single discipline breeding.

Depending on your EBS can also effect whether or not you think it's useful to keep or not. Some months it costs much more to breed to a PEP combo than others.

I always suggest before selling or breeding make a similar horse search (same rating and breed) and check out the prices for either sale or breeding on the first page

As said before, KNNs are a very restricted breed.
Most of the KNNs share the same weak traits, Int and Scp.
And you can not cross-breed them with any other strong breeds, only KNN x KNN and the right genetics will give you a KNN foal.

You can check out my stable blog - there you can find a lot of Informations on KNN breeding

https://horseeden.com/blog.php?id=18024&b=4

I would suggest to start out with PPP KNN mares that are LPLP and two PATN1 or two PATN2 genes and breed them to PEE+ combo boys. Then keep the hopefully better rated fillies and slowly cull the PPP mares - so you can build up your own lines.

Breeding KNNs for ratings is sometimes VERY frustrating and hard - but on the other hand it´s an additional challenge you will not find in other breeds ;)
