Feith, I agree.

Let's not forget about Ferdinand though. That one also kills me.

!The saddest horse story that I know of, in my opinion, is Ruffian. I shed tears of gold for her. She was only 3 with no foals to carry her bloodline. Such a poor soul.

I devoured the Marguerite Henry books as a kid. We went out to Chincoteague/Assateague one year when they swam the ponies across for the roundup. And we saw taxidermy Misty in the museum

Midnight.. yes.. about 5 years ago they imported some of her decendents back onto the island to keep her bloodline going.
They found her down and they went through heroic measures to try to save her but there was something wrong with her back end and they decided it was best to euthanize her.

At least Coralle took in Unieks foal. That is still so sad though, she finally had a successful baby and she won't even see it grow ..

How can I improve my breeding? October 2, 2019 07:28 PM

I breed TBs and have been for quite a while now. I have definitely improved over the years and my stock had gotten better but I now feel like IÂ’ve hit a brick wall and itÂ’s not really going anywhere. While I am breeding more EEEs, they just arenÂ’t strong. ThereÂ’s the occasional one where RF has been extra nice and I do have a fairly strong EEE but thatÂ’s pretty rare.
What can I do to improve my breeding? Should I save up and invest in some now breeding stock or some good broods? IÂ’m really not sure on where to go.

Thanks in advance.

I would start by heavily culling your mares. Which ever mares who are not producing their rating or better 50% of the time need to be let go.
You can be a bit more generous with the percentage, but you're aiming to only have mares who are capable of producing.

What mares you have left after the cull, i would be sending to ABLB studs every year.
It's very difficult to get top horses if you are not using the top studs in the game. It's not impossible, by any means. But you're just that much more likely to get a stronger horse by using a stronger stud.

Also, if you can afford to, once a game year i would invest in a good LB brood. The mares matter just as much as the studs. :)

If this girl continues to train this way, focus on her. Use the money you make from culling your other mares, match her first with the best stud you can afford and eventually use items if she is producing consistent EEEs. Quality over quantity. I would stick with 1-3 matches with only your strongest mares for a while, until you can afford to use the best boys & items with more than 3 matches.

Thank you Hemlock! I have just now been through my barns and had a fair bit of a clean out. I will definitely focus on that filly. Fingers crossed she doesnt flop.
Thank you again!
