Hey guys, So I bred what i thought would be a good match, and got this foal as a result. Could anyone tell me what I'm doi g wrong?! Thanks!

You are never garenteed a good foal from a match that works out well.

First of all, random factor will always play its part. It influents a match positive or negative. To the match: Your mare is strongest in mv and weakest in int. The stallion is weakest in scp, then mv. He's strongest in spd. I'd guess that the mare's low int and the stud's low mv pulled the dressage rating down. The low scp of the stud might have influenced the jumping rating. Hard to tell whether the rating is because of their weaknesses or because of random factor acting up.

Thanks for the replies. I probably should have added I'm aware RF plays a part in breeding outcomes, however I wanted to know if it was likely down to RF or if I was doing it wrong! Thanks. 😊

I have also found that offspring of P parents even if EEE are not usually strong producers. An E rating can have a lot of variation from just barely above a P. The dam has never produced better than a EPE. Edited at February 2, 2020 10:36 AM by Farseer Farms
