Why are mares more expensive then studs? Did I spend too much on a PEE TB stud for 25k?

It really depends on the horses you are comparing and multiple factors come into play such as rating, training, pedigree, production, color, leaderboard or not, etc. $25k for a PEE anything isn't bad. Even if he flops you can geld him to show and make that EBs back very easily.

I would guess that mares are more expensive than stallions because a mare can only have one foal per real-life month, rather than 20 foals for a stallion. The other reason is that there may be more demand to buy or breed with good mares. I know I tend to keep my good mares once I have them.
