Aw thank you! That's what I was going for :D and to avoid chestnuts all you need to do is make sure that you're breeding your horses to ones with EE genetics, ee is chestnut so as long as the foal winds up with Ee or EE they won't be chestnut

Yep it's definitely a bit difficult to understand 😅
Just reading some of yours there now and while I do understand most genetic reading now yours is super easy to read 🫶🏼
Once I find the EE and AA nonsense thing I'm gonna re-read over it because I do not want chestnuts in my barn ha

Aw thank you Amber! That means a lot <3 I found the genetics guides to be quite technical (which is great, but sometimes hard to read) so I wanted to do something a bit more visually friendly and step by step :)

I'm new to the game and I'm trying to get a handle on tracking training and showing. I have bought some 2 yr olds and adults that have no training. I was told not to track these guys because the numbers would not work the same and that it was mainly for yearlings. Is this correct? I don't want to track them if the numbers will not actually tell me anything.
Thanks for the help!

It doesn't matter when you start training, the numbers work the same. Training is training, no matter the age.
.
What's important is to track weeks 4-14 if you plan on using them for breeding, as these weeks will show strengths and weaknesses. Some people go only to 12, some go up to 16, but how their training turns out won't change based on age. :)

Maybe the person meant if they were already trained in a different discipline? If they are completely untrained age has no affect, and Versailles is correct.

Follow up question. Does it matter if I train them in all disciplines or just a single discipline? Does that affect what bars go up or will it be the same regardless of discipline?

Every discipline has their own set of matching traits, so dressage is movement, intelligence, and strength. Cross country is heart, speed, and strength. Jumping is heart, scope, speed. When training in single discipline, usually only these traits will show up. Otherwise, all discipline training is where the actual traits your horse in strong in will show and weekly tracking is helpful

most people will train horses in single-disciplines if they have elite or better in that discipline, so for example a SubAW horse would be strictly trained in jumping. Horses that are say EEW, however, are often trained in all disciplines as they have similar strengths between the Es and Ws that they dont necessarily need to be a single-discipline. Of course, how you train is all up to you and what your goals are :D
