I would recommend GIMP. From what I have heard it is a limited version is free (possibly full version) but as a PS user I am not 100% sure.

I'd definitely recommend gimp to anyone starting out on a laptop - it is completely free and has many of a features that PS has without the cost. However, I will say it can be daunting to figure out so feel free to PM me if you need help Kat (or anyone!). As previously said it is more for image manipulation than straight drawing, but it is fantastic if that's what you want to focus on.
