No. Nalo is in a 20 gallon long, which is about 12" tall.

My 20 gallon is an Aqueon, my 40 is a Marineland (I think). I love them both. And if you buy them new, stores will have a return policy on them in case a seam leaks or theres a crack you can't see.

The only time I recommend buying second-hand is if you're purchasing a large tank and are willing to learn how to reseal it. Otherwise, it's cheaper (and safer) to buy from a store!

Oh also, I heard betta fish like shallow water so does that mean something as tall as 12" is too tall for them?

Do you guys have any tank brand recommendations? I definitely need one with a lid.

They are great for supplies! Our LFS actually partners with them because of how much they recommend them.

I was thinking of ordering supplies from this company. I have heard good things and they have good guides.

Checkout used tanks often people will be nearly giving them away, just make sure to fill it up outside first for a few days to make sure it’s not leaking. Never take a tank with cracks even if they’re small and are current ply holding water
Backwood Barns

Or, you can typically do it cheaper by piecing it together yourself. Tank, light, cover(optional), heater, filter, air pump, airline hoses, bubble wand, substrate, and then obviously decorations (nothing plastic) and the fish.

I reccomend tetras as well, you want a lot 10-20 as theyre schooling fish and they have a high casualty rate especially when you first get them

You can get a 20 gallon tall kit at most pet stores for about $200 that will include just about everything except substrate, plants, and fish.

Bird, I loved my tetras, I believe I had the 2 for 4/5 years? But do be weary when you get them, I originally had 4 but unfortunately we lost 2 very shortly after due to the 'professionals' we talked with I'll informing us on the best amount for our tank!

Like with anything it takes a lot of research (and it's a bit of an investment) to do things right.

Bettas are definitely able to get away with a 10. I just wouldn't go lower, they explore and swim around way more than people realize

Bird, Unfortunately I never got to try a planted tank, but I've heard amazing things! I do really wish I'd had time to lol

For preferably a smaller tank. Less than 20 gallons.

Manip Tips/Pricing Help Please! August 14, 2025 11:58 AM

Heyy, only done 3 manips (did 2 back a couple of months ago and then took a break from HEE so did one today as well) so looking for some tips to make my manips look a little more cohesive and put together, and just overall better.

Also got no idea what I should price my manips at if I were to do an auction, so if anyone's any good with pricing I could do with some help on SB/AB etc!

Unfortunately my PC got wiped a while back so I only have two of the manips I've done, most recent one and the first one I ever did which I thankfully had backed up on my phone.

This is my most recent manip, the 3rd one I've ever done. It's definitely a little rough around the edges but I don't think it's the worst thing ever!

--

bN8uz.png

This is the first manip I ever did, and as you can see I had (and still have) no idea what I was doing and got very carried away with how long the stick on the floor was because I'd been looking at it for wayy too long by that point.

--

Literally any tips at all are very appreciated, feel free to be as harsh as you'd like!

I always suggest setting a low SB, so maybe 10k? And then not setting an AB for the first few auctions you make to get a good understanding of how much people are willing to pay. For MI (minimum increase), I would do 5k to start off. Once you figure out that average selling price, make the AB around that range and slowly increase it as your art gets better and more consistent, :) For ending the auction, I suggest 24 hours after the last bid, <3

~

Your art is so pretty already for being just the first few pieces. You should be very proud, ^^
