Pretty sure there is a size, I had an image that was too small. So I resized it to fix the screen. I'm just wanting to know the ideal pixel size to use.

There is no specific size. If the image is too big for your liking, crop/resize it a little bit more. I'm fine with around 1500x800 maybe?
