I do definitely think that some of your pieces are Tier 1 worthy. Same thing I struggle with though, consistency. This piece, to me, is still Tier 2. . I admit, I'm really not sure what's going on with the lighting on this piece. The highlights on the horse are from the glowing ring but there's also other random lighter areas. Took me a minute to figure out what's coming out of the skull's eye socket. Very over-contrasted though. Also, where is the head attached to the rest of the body?..... (of the snake) Finally, it looks like you may have tried to highlight the back right leg somewhat. I don't think it turned out like what you were going for because it makes it look like the horse has an unhealthily skinny back leg. I love the framing of this piece with the leaves. Very unique :) |

Thoughts; that grey mane looks fabulous! Very nice color change ;) and keeping the texture. My recommendation; eye, lighting. To me, the Eye seems a little on the small side. Also, make sure to have a reflection for wherever the light source is. Lighting-wise, there isn't really a clear light source in this image but you can assume it's from the sky. Because of this, the underside of the horse (legs, stomach, neck, chest, face) should be darker than the top part of the horse (neck, back, ears) which should be highlighted. More lighting, the white hair, in the tail especially, seems much brighter than the grey mane. Play with the lighting a bit to make it more natural. Great job with the mane shadow and the grass around the back hooves <3 |

I do think your biggest strengths are eyes, body prep, and choosing stock that actually fits very nicely together. In my opinion, your biggest area in which to grow if lighting. In this piece, you might have been able to make the dark lighting around the hooves world as long as it was consistent and for with the rest of the piece. The current highlights on the horse do not fit with this background image. Because of this light source, the horse's strongest highlights should be on the edges of its face and back. Make sure to give the mane a shadow on the horse. One final element of realism, give the horse a slightly pink hue in order to match it better with the rest of the background. Keep up the great work! |

So I'm struggling XD My main issue is the glowing markings since I've never done them. That's really been my main focus on this piece thus far, so if anyone has any tips/pointers with glow, I'd love to hear them! I tried following a glow tutorial on YT, but I like getting other opinions. Thanks! |

I actually really like the markings! They contrast very nicely with the black horse. To make them a bit more realistic, make sure that when you do the lighting for this piece, you use the markings as a light source that highlights the grass a little bit :) |

@gem Okay, ive tried to do a quick doodle of how the tail shoukd flow, the way ypuve done the waves is wuote unnatural, ther too big, if ypu wany wavy hair yried focusong on adding more waves and flyaways, gair is messy and it wouldnt be super untangled or neat.
