When cutting out the horse, use a soft brush with around 60% opacity near the hooves. This will give the hooves a sense of disappearing into the grass. I don't use DA, but hope this helped.

I personally take a smudge brush on 30% strength and slowly blend it in. I also cut out parts of the hooves especially if the horse is meant to be on grass or rocks.
