I think it is about time I invest in Photoshop for my art. Which version do you all recommend? Is there anything I should know about it or do you have any tips for it?
Thanks in advance <3

I find PS really hard to work on incomparison to other programs that can do the same thing. There are more options with PS though but the key controls are a little different so getting use to them may be difficult. I still use GIMP since when I took graphic design, even with a teacher, it was just a lot more difficult to figure out in comparison to another, free program. If you are really wanting to get it though, I recommend looking into which version is most suitable for the laptop or PC you may be using and watch youtube videos on each version since you can learn alot about each one from there. I hope this helps!

I personally like PS very much, I learned some of it during my animation/design classes as well. The only "bad" thing is that you need loads of RAM and a neat GPU to support it, so I would take a version that is best adjusted to your hardware power. (But absolutely do NOT go lower than CS6. Anything earlier than that is already a fossil lol)
I'm using the CC 17 version on a quite tanky gaming laptop with great specs, and give it 8 GB of RAM to use as it pleases and I have very few if any issues with it.
One thing I find extremely annoying is how it opens though, but that's just me hating stuff that cannot work in the background and pop into the foreground whenever they want lol. After the logo disappears and the loading of the actual workspace starts, if I alt+tab away from it, it just pops back up after 1 or 2 seconds until it fully opens. Not sure if all versions do this, and it's really just an itch of mine I guess that I don't like having to wait out those 10 seconds until it fully opens itself before I go do something else.
Also I recommend taking your time to test it out during the free trial to see if you can work together. It can be very intimidating at first, but once you get used to it and know your way around it, it's a thankful program. I found that random tutorials with random images don't work very well for me, so I can recommend trying to do a complex manip and googling all the steps, looking at step by sep tutorials for each aspect. For example, if you make a rainy piece and you want to make rain on the image, you can go check a tutorial in how to create rain in PS and following along will teach you some stuff about the program itself as well as the tools.
This became quite lengthy, but if you need any help with PS you can just PM me anytime :D

Thankyou both heaps! I had completely forgotten about the free trail so I will definitely make use of it. My laptop is designed for graphic design and artists so from what I belive PS works really well with it.
Still after any advice anyone has :)
