The wings are a mess, but besides that how is it? Any critiques and suggestions would be very appreciated!

1.) Do a color balance and try and make the wings better match the horse and backround better (a more pink/orange color)
-
2.) The Horse has feet "in" the water. Therefore water should be covering the hooves in the water.
-
3.) Where is the tail?
-
4.) Lighting. The "lighting" in this picture is coming from behind the horse. So the front should be darker than the behind.
-
5.) reflection. The water looks very rough in the picture, so just a shadow should work.
-
6.) Blur the background slightly. The focus should be on the horse, not the pretty sunset in the backround and the birds flying and all that.
-
7.). Eyes. Make the eye a color. Yellow. Blue. Violet for all I care. It needs to stand out a little.
-
8.) Lining. Trace a small white/light color of the backround around the horse and the creases to make them stand out.

hope this helps!

Thank you! The horse is floating like it's coming into to the ground, but I will find a way to make the hooves blend somehow lol. This is a rough draft so I will add the eyes and tail!

Can someone explain why people "line" the horse now? I don't understand why that is the norm now. I always remembered the point of manips to look natural/real, and I don't see how outlining the horse accomplishes that. I sold a lot of art here in the past but I've just started playing again and it seems to be a theme for this game specifically. Not trying to be rude at all, just confused lol

Yeah, I'm also not a big fan of it though sometimes I feel like making a little bit of a line to show where the light his the horse can make it nice looking.

People line the horses as their style. A few tier 1s started doing it then it spread. If you don't like it there are plenty of artist who don't use it. I don't like it so I don't put it on my pieces...really it's all down to style and personal preference
