My part of the art trade with Gem <3 It seems like my latest works are always a "first attepmts" at something lol. This was my first attempt at painting the full background in detail, not just the speedpaint kind of stuff. I enjoy the painting of the horses SO much that I'm wondering if I will ever go back to manips again lol. I might need to update my art shop into painting shop instead of manip shop xD

Another painting incoming! This time I didn't paint the background, just the horse. I tried my hardest to get it look like a brown dun, but in the finished image the whole thing disappeared anyway... xD This is my part of the art trade with Misha :D Full image: Just the horse with its original colors:

I think that this is the worst piece I've made in the past couple of months. It feels like a step back all the way to T3 or lower xD The horse looks like a sticker on the background, and the whole thing is meh... I started it for a contest but I lost interest halfway in. So... this is what happens when I force art xD Anyway, a weird mix of a lizard, dragon and horse, here's my mudmonster:

So, there's gonna be a little longer rant here than in my shop lol. Cause I just have to. Clicky for fully size. Good things first :D It feels like I haven't done a manip since forever, so this was really relaxing. I loved the color change (I guess this is gonna be my second most favorite part of making art, after horse prep). I also felt much more patient with this than the previous manips. I think that I picked up something good for manips too in my short journey to digital painting, so it seems these two styles are symbiotically improving each other. Now the bad part... the mane!!! No matter how much I tried I just couldn't get it right. It feels a bit like it's ruining the piece, which makes me a little sad. I gave individual attention to every strand of hair, both for coloring and shading, yet it feels like the brush is too thick. It shouldn't be, but maybe I'm not using it correctly. But those hours I put into it now feel kind of wasted xD I'm completely clueless why did the tail come out so good and the mane so thick. I just don't know. And this frustrates me xD

That is so beautiful! The colour of the horse really gives pff a peaceful vibe and the texture of the hair is stunning as always, youve really got the matural aspect fof this piece down and ocerall you did a splendid job!! And i woulsbt say the hair "ruins" the piece at all! I honestly love the colour, yexture and placement, the strands near the shoulder should be angled slightpy different but other. Than that i see no issues at all! Edited at June 22, 2020 12:17 PM by Sunset Grove Farm
