The Horse Eden Eventing Artist Rumble began as a member led competition for all artists and those who love art. It was a major hit and became bigger than anyone imagined. Several of our members have come together and volunteered to become part of the official Rumble Team. We would like your feedback on how to make the future Artist Rumbles even better! We've put together a short list for now but we would love to hear what you have
to say and any ideas you'd like to share.

Seasonal Rumbles
The original idea for the Artist Rumble was to have 2 per real year. As we all know, this is a lot for one person to handle but still a phenomenal idea. However, now that we have a team, we'll try our best to keep this schedule. Our goal is to have a Spring Rumble and a Fall Rumble. We are aiming for the Spring to be from February to June and the Fall to be from September to November. Going forward, these dates may be adjusted if the interest is there.

Set Start and End Dates
As previously stated, we'd like to do 2 Rumbles per real year. I know some of you get frustrated with the schedule and we'd like to fix this if we can. Having a Set Start Date and a Set End Date would allow every artist to be able to plan ahead to decide which Rumble they may be able to participate in.

Limiting Entries
The Rumble Sign-Ups have always had unlimited participants. If we want to keep the Rumble under a certain time frame from Start to Finish, this may be necessary. However, we'd love to hear your thoughts on this before this is implemented. This would likely only impact Tier 3 since there are more participants here.

Rumble Trivia Night
This idea was brought up during the last Rumble and we believe it's a wonderful idea! All members enjoy guessing which artist is who and this would be the perfect opportunity to gather together. But how would we be able to keep all participants a secret? As the Rumble progresses, there is always someone who decides to auction their entries and blow their cover. Nothing is wrong with this, but it more fun to guess at the end.

Preventing Entry Drop-Outs
How can we implement this? We know real life happens and it may be impossible to get a complete entry in on time. The Rumble is a competition so it's disappointing when someone doesn't turn something in.

Other Member Ideas
If you have something you'd love to see in a future Artist Rumble, let's hear it! Please drop your idea in here.

Just thoughts...
Loving going back to seasonal Rumbles
Limiting Entries could be implemented based perhaps on the following? (weeding out the...)
1. Rumble "Trivia Night". Have A non-disclosure contract. If someone does blow thier cover by selling a piece, they no longer are in the rumble.
2. Yes Real Life happens. Enterers need to keep in contact with the Rumble Team if real life throws them a curve-ball. For those that enter and just don't try to continue, ban them from the next Rumble. For those that keep in contact with the team as mentioned, no ban UNLESS they withdraw from another Rumble.
Just my thoughts on the matter :-)

I don't think Bans should be implemented for Rumbles unless the player is known for breaking the Art Rules frequently...

As for the Real Life happens thing, I think having a few volunteers to act as Ghosts like we've had previously would be nice. Not every person who enters can commit to the whole Rumble season, but could commit to being 'on-call' if a drop-out occurs and the player dropping out is able to give a couple days notice. Or the Rumble artists could let a Ghost know in advance if they'll be too busy and the Ghost opperates as that artist for that round and keeps everything sneaky sneaky still.

And then perhaps as a way to reduce entries, each entrant must include a sample of their work when they enter which also doubles to make sure they are entering the right Tier (i,e. keeping more advanced artists from trying to get an easy win by entering a lower Tier). The sample work could be like a test Rumble where there's a small stock selection the artists are required to pick from to make their piece (to ensure the artists aren't using old art). The sample art could be sold during the Rumble since the SSCN wouldn't have been given out yet.

The rumble has fallen off a lot... I think more than two rumbles per year will burn people out more than they already are. Especially if people are becoming a lot more reserved in their spending as of lately..
.
communication is a two way street. I think this should be a bit better with a team of people working on the rumble.. but I don't think it's cool to hear about people not getting responses about questions regarding their entry.
Don't just ignore a bunch of people for weeks. People are willing to help and will understand.. If you don't want to answer in PMs do a quick public forum message.. or - PM someone to post for you.
.
if timelines are set, ACTUALLY stay by them. - the team should be able to help with this so I'm glad that's going to be a thing
.
I 100% think it should be a rumble rule to wait to sell your pieces until after the rumble. With the first and second rumbles I was so sad to see people make it easier to narrow down who was who.
incentives to not break this rule (if it becomes one) 1. A percentage of the profits go to a rumble fund to create the next rumbles winning pot. 2. A one or two rumble suspension for the next rumble depending on if you decide to do more than 2 rumbles per year or not
i had more but it's early and my brain shorted out 🤣
.
Maybe at this point we could do a winners circle rumble within the rumble? First part of the rumble of the previous t3 winners who are still t3 and want to participate again they can do a couple pieces and compete in a shorter rumble as the entrants will be much less.. somewhere in the middle repeat with t2.. and at the end line up the T1 winners with the end of the rumble

The last two rumbles were kind of a shit show. With hosts dropping off the face of the earth for weeks at a time.

As an artist, it is incredibly difficult to take something seriously and continue to participate when the hosts just disappear, or have issues pop up, and either don't or refuse to employ a back up person to keep the rumble going on the timeline stated.

I was a T1 finalist this most recent rumble. I HAD to drop out the final round. It was posted WEEKS late. When it was posted, it was in the 2 weeks where I had back to back to back trials. I had messaged the host. Instead of trying to work with me, and possibly extend the deadline a handful of days which would have allowed me to get a piece in, they just never responded then made backhanded posts about people not getting entries in. Cool.

When the issues with how the rumble is ran is fixed, more people will take it seriously and be engaged.

I agree, two a year might be too much, especially during the winter and spring seasons (holidays and finals).
Summer might be the best time to host the Rumble, as people generally have more free time and there will be more active entrants and voters.

Please keep the feedback coming in! :D

Communication
I know this is a big issue and this is our #1 to fix. We will continue the Rumble Thread and will have an official Club to pass on information as well. Our new team will be more organized going forward so it should be easier to reach out to any of us if you need the latest info.

Rumble Ban
I would say more like a suspension from the next one if you flat out refuse to turn anything in. At least turn in *something* lol. A simple pm will be much appreciated if you can't finish.

Set Rumble Dates
Start date will be set. Extensions may throw off the finish though. So how do you guys feel about that issue? What do you feel is an acceptable time frame to do your entry?

When is The Rumble
Looks like some of you think 2 is too many, at least for now. When would you rather have the main event? We could also do smaller "rumbles" or normal contests during the year.

Collab Teams
- What do you guys think about collab teams?
- Would you like to pick your partner or have them assigned?
- This could shorten the entire rumble time frame so it doesn't drag out so long?
- Any prizes would be split.
- Could prevent no entry submissions.

I haven't had the chance to compete in a Rumble yet, as I was around pre-Rumble era and missed the last Rumble. However, I have more of an outside perspective and maybe some fresh insight. I think that having one individual rumble during the summer and a collab rumble during the winter might work well. I personally am in school and fall/spring get very busy with school projects.

As far as bans go maybe there could be a rule implemented that if someone drops out in a single Rumble they either need to be with another person who dropped out or withheld for the collab rumble. This is because they are probably more likely to drop out again or rely on their partner to prepare / complete work. I really love the idea of a collab Rumble because there aren't always a lot of opportunities to collab with other artists.

In response to CM cuz im too lazy to quote and delete everything else 🤣
.
As far as extension dates goes, I don't agree if you're ACTUALLY sticking to the timeline. If it's anything like the last time though where timelines were set but not followed there should be wiggle room
.
I'm not sure how I feel about the teams idea.. I would say have that be their own category of rumble but that would just be too much. I also am not sure I find collab a that fair.. let's just use T2 for an example. Say you have one T2 artist that's super good at hair and grounding but not that great with lighting, and you have another T2 artist that's super great at lighting but not that great with hair.. individually their art would be t2 but together their art would be t1 (this is just an example - not all will be like this, but this is why I'm hesitant)
.
.
and in respinse with Wren - I'm there with you.. I was really art active pre-rumble but got super burned out since then.. spring would be hard because of finals for those who are students, fall would be hard because of holidays and adjusting back to school routines. Winter is difficult because holidays/travel and summer is likely also hard because of travel. I feel there needs to be a super fine line of timing. Spring into summer with longer timelines originally for finals and such but go back to normal timelines maybe for summer. Semi opposite for fall going into winter as these events take literal weeks to complete.. shorter timelines in the beginning as there's less holidays and longer times lines as we get further into the season.
I could have that backwards in a sense- but I know for me in my time off, time is spent more in traveling to see family that just lounging around the house already with family. I'm not sure how the majority of the HEE community is. Maybe that could be a poll?

I love the little contest idea! Maybe do a yearly big rumble and then just little contests every couple months (three or four).
-
I don't think bans are the best idea, but some sort of penalty for not communicating or selling art early could be nice.
-
Definitely a start date, and a loosely made calendar with a one week give per date. (So each round could be extended absolute max, one week)
-
Not a huge fan of limiting entries, but it could make it more coveted, maybe bring more people into it as those who didn't make it that year could help etc
