- What if there are set dates for each round, Nx no extensions given? Rather, just make each round maybe 2 weeks so people have enough time to get their entries done. It's unfair when extensions are given midway through a round as some people may have already finished their pieces by that point. And having set dates would be good because for the last rumble, I was a t2 finalist but since the last round got delayed by over a month, and since I was much busier than I was when it was supposed to happen, I didn't get a chance to make my piece as good as I would have liked.
- Not sure if I personally would participate in a collab rumble, since I would hate putting a lot of effort into something when I don't know or choose the other person and the rates of people just not turning anything in are so high. But that's just me.
- I know I am quite busy during the year, so summer would be the best time for me (and many others, I imagine). Maybe there could be one full rumble in the summer, and maybe a smaller contest or two throughout the year? It could be a similar idea maybe, like maybe just one round with limited stock to pick from and artists submit anonymously. Maybe more of a focus on the guessing though, like a prize for guessing the most artists correctly?

Suggestion on the Timeline part of this:
There's hard set Start Dates, a default amount of time given (usually 7 days), and then there's a 'soft' deadline (end of the 7 days) and a 'hard' deadline (2 days after soft deadline). And then Voting goes up in 12 - 24 hours from the deadline reached.
This would shorten the amount of time for Voting if it goes to the Hard Deadline, but if everyone gets art in on time then you have more time for Voting.
With this idea you could have solid start dates for every round and set deadlines for the Rumble Team to have Voting up by. Say the Deadline is 12pm/ Noon then the Vote should be up by 12am/midnight at the earliest and must be up by noon the following day at the latest. And then Voting will also have set closing dates/times (which shouldn't be extended regardless of how many votes are in).
There other benefit to this is that no one should have to ask for an extension because it's built in to the schedule already. And there's no reason to add more than 2 days to the Soft Deadline since that's been the standard amount of time given to extend previous Rumble Rounds.
It could be phrased differenty though, instead of saying the time from start to end per round is 7 days, you can say the time given is 9 days with no extensions possible and if everyone gets their work in early then Voting can start earlier and last longer! Which sneakily encentivises getting art in with the reward of more Vote time.
=================
As for encouraging people to not ruin the SSCNs, I think a prize list for maintaining secrecy would be fun. Like, the players who are the hardest to identify at the end/during Trivia get a nice chunk of ebs or a little profile badge for Rumble Ninja-ness.

I agree with HMH. The smaller contests could provide a way for artists to practice different skills or to keep the art juices flowing. In terms of collaborations, perhaps a second category/bracket and you can only enter single or collab? Pre-arranged collaborations would work the best. Limited suspension for rule breaking would be effective.

HMH Reality Check said:
I love the little contest idea! Maybe do a yearly big rumble and then just little contests every couple months (three or four).
-
I don't think bans are the best idea, but some sort of penalty for not communicating or selling art early could be nice.
-
Definitely a start date, and a loosely made calendar with a one week give per date. (So each round could be extended absolute max, one week)
-
Not a huge fan of limiting entries, but it could make it more coveted, maybe bring more people into it as those who didn't make it that year could help etc

The last Rumble finished the concept for most of us. There's zero point when something goes on indefinitely.
And to have second runners up I've always thought there should be some ebs involved. It's a TON of work artists put in to get that far.
I offered to sponsor that but was shot down. I'd like that implemented and again, will donate the ebs.

It seems the rumble turned into a power hungry mess. Albeit it seems like it's a lot of the way the game is going in general but hey 🤷🏼‍♀️ We hardly have T1 artists offering art anymore so this was one of my fav things to do seeing the artists skills come to life. The last few rumbles have been haphazard at best - speaking as a consumer not as an artist cuz ya girl don't art. It was inconsistent to keep up with - never knew what was happening when. So moving forward it would be nice to have set days/times for when art is due and for when the voting is open. Like say, Saturdays or sundays or whenever just consistent
But consistent seems to be the big takeaway from most.

My opinion on the rumbles are that they are a LOT of fun, but I stopped entering because either half the entries weren't submitted, the deadlines weren't met, and/or the rounds lasted so FREAKING long.

1. Five days to make the art, two days to vote. Repeat.
-----Maybe every Monday post the results and the next round, art is due on Friday, voting open Saturday and Sunday. (It doesn't have to be those days, if I was competing again I'd hate not having Saturday and Sunday to make the art, those were just example days.)
----- Also - NO EXTENSIONS! I get life comes up, but it's a contest and the real world means you have to conform to deadlines.

2. I think there should be a set number of entries possible. Maybe a max of 8 (or 12) per tier because those brackets are super straight-forward. Someone earlier in the thread suggested a round for tiers who have more entries where everyone who wants to enter makes a piece, votes are cast for the best, and the top however many make the cut.
Suggestion to stop the same people from entering each rumble if something like that happens: whoever is selected one rumble can't compete the next, if a pool voting system has to be used due to the number of entries.

3. Personally, I do NOT like the idea of more than 1 (maybe) 2 rumbles per year. They need to be something that sparks excitement, not 'oh, hey there's another rumble.' Overrunning the contests with them is getting old. (To me, personally. I hope that didn't sound rude.)

4. I vote no on the collab rumble. There's no way to judge if artists are giving 50/50, and it's severely unfair for one team to go 90/10 if someone really is paired with someone who is maybe not so good. Just my opinion.

5. Love love LOVE the non-disclosure agreement someone at the beginning suggested. I always hated when someone auctioned their pieces early. The fun is in the guessing. I love the idea of a big reveal at the end.
Optional punishment: at least one rumble ban.

There's my two-cents. I hope I didn't sound rude. It's been a long day and I was just trying to get my thoughts out there because I miss competing and I want the rumbles to run smoothly.

Bottom line: Consistency, communication, fewer entries, and a set amount of time. Deadlines are deadlines for a reason: both for posting and completing the rounds.

Oh oh one more thing:
If there is a round where two competitors (head to head) don't enter, but two competetors do, kick whoever doesn't submit their piece out and shift a spot around to let those who DO complete their pieces continue on. A couple rumbles ago the only two pieces of art submitted for a round were two who were paired up, which meant one of them lost. Very frustrating.

Setting a start date is a great idea. Several months in advance notice. Like, a notice goes out say in Jan. for a rumble in April.
You'd have plenty of time to submit your finished product and by doing so, you've made your 'entry'. This would eliminate all the 'drop-outs'.

I entered in both of the last 2 rumbles and I had to drop out on both occasions because of how inconsistent and haphazard it all seemed. Id love to just see set dates for all the rumbles, and also for the rounds to be less long, like charm said, id like to see 5 days for creating, 2 days for voting. I think that would work well.
