Rio I'm not saying it's not useful as a bravery breeder, just that it's very limited on a single function and only on 10 horses. Even the basic barns can hold 25 horses. And pastures are awesome in that you can do so many different things with them

Kasim | Mzee Pride | Second | M: None, Open

As the evening of another day on the savannah drew to an end, the air was quiet and calm around the pridelands of the Mzee lions. Faint moisture lingered in the heavy air long after the mild storm had showered the lands just hours before. It was still early into the wet season, but this rain would be the first promise of many more soon to come and flood the lands in the months to come. While most of the pride had not yet awoken from their slumber, a single male pulled his muted tan hide from the shadows of the den. A yawn pried his powerful jaws wide open as he paused momentarily to allow his light colored orbs to adjust to the vibrant light of the warm sun he presented himself before. He pulled his frame along with a sluggish gait down the narrow stone walk way and on towards the highlands, where a natural pring offered this pride the privilege of fresh water. As of this moment, it was the largest of very few sustainable sources of water in this portion of the reserve - at least until the rains came and created new puddles for creatures to drink from. Until then, it would remain quite busy throughtout all hours of the day with all species that the reserve had to offer. The male was immediately noticed as he strolled towards the water's edge nonchalantly, parting the zebras and buffalo like a knife in butter as they slowly departed for the opposing side of the spring. His causal demeanor presented no threat, so they would all stay for now. Though he could feel the faintest tings of hunger rumbling in his gut, he was content for now, knowing the lionesses would be stirring soon and on the hunt. He would feast later, as always. But for now his job, along witht he other pride males, was to patrol the lands beforehand to make sure the females could work in peace this evening to put food on their (figurative) table.
After quenching his thrist, the male made his way through the lemon grass that swayed in the faint breeze the savanna offered, tickling his underside of his fur as he passed. He had become early invisible as his lighter colored made blended perfectly with the landscape. He allowed his orbs to roll rhythmically over the land as he took everything in, confirming that all was just as it should be. The plains that the lionesses typically chose to hunt in were populated with wildebeast and Kudu this evening. Either would make a tasty meal, he thought.

Xiana| Mzee Pride | Appren. Healer| M: Xiomara, Kasim (ind.), Open

The dark lioness lounged lazily in the low hanging branches of an acacia that grew alone near the entance of the healer's den. Though just as much a part of the pride as any of the other lions, the healers tended to stick to themselves and drug their apprentices along as well. They busied themselves with gathering plants and blending herbal remedies as injuries and treaments for pain and soreness were constant ailments out on the savannah, especially for the hunting parties. Currently, their work was at a standstill as they awaited the huntresses to return from their party this evening. Xiana and her teacher, Xiomara (AKA her mother), had already completed preparations hours ago, so now is when she was supposed to be catching up on her rest. Unfortunately, Xiana had a rather restless mind this evening as she watched the others begin to stir. She watched as the first lion, Kasim, made his way from the den and out to start patrol early. She sighed deeply to herself. She dreamed that she could go out onto the plains like everyone else with a job she felt was more important. Yes, the pride needed medicine, but just once, she would like to be apart of a hunting party, or go out on patrol; See parts of the territory that her outings for roots and flowers never allowed her to venture to. As she toyed with the thought, her mother's voice pulled her back to reality. "Xiana, help me with these packs so we're not rushing around when the party gets here." Her mother's voice was rough and blunt, but Xiana obeyed and pulled herself down from the tree and followed Xiomara into the den.

Kala| Mzee Pride | Appren. Elder| M: None, Open

As the morning dews blended into the Elder den, The lioness opened her eyes at the slight of daylight, She sensed that Kasim was already awake and patrolling the area, Growling softly she rose to her foot and yawned, Peering thourgh the den to see that yes Kasim had already gone, She sighed and took her spot on the usual rock that she layed on, She streched before laying down and sprawling her legs out so she could relax, Her ears flicking at the slight itch of bugs, The sun warm on her golden coat, The thick scent of wildebeast and kudu flooded the air, Although she was an elder and couldn't hunt, She missed chasing after the prey and taking them down.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nala| Mzee Pride | Appren. Huntress| M: None, Open

The morning sun entered her den and flashed brightly within her eyes, The lioness gave a growl before exiting her den, Scaning the area and noticing her mother relaxing on the rock she usually did, She yawned and made her way to her mother, Nuzzling her softly and laying beside her, Her ears perked and listening for any sighs of danger or another pride member, She lifted her head up as she noticed a few more lionesses making their way out the dens, She sat up and gazed into the tall grass, Hoping to notice Kasmin.

Sorry for the late entry Ara! Here's the boy!
Name: Kalisto "Kal/Kali"
Gender: Male
Age: 5 Years Old
Pride/Rank (if applicable): Mzee Pride/King
Temperament: Level headed; kind, just, generous (espeically with his own pride members) and forgiving (probably too much so when it comes to his brother, Kasim) Not afraid to lay down the law but prefers a calmer, diplomatic approach.
Other: Xi is the only other lion/ess (As Of Now) he can be completely truthful with when it comes to his emotions and worries, as you would expect from a true friend. To his pride, he tries to remain unwavering in all times of abundance and hardship.

Kalisto | Mzee Pride | King | M: Kasim, Xi, Open

The night had been a quiet one, and other than the storm that had passed through a few hours earlier, the only noise Kal could make out was that of the water droplets at the entrance of his den drip drip dripping onto the stone floor below. A faint line of light was hitting his eyes just right causing him to blink them open slowly. A large yawn overtook him as he began to rise from his bed. He sat for a moment before standing and shaking whatever dried grasses, leaves, and other materials had stuck to him during the night.

Kal made his way out of the den, the sun just barely peaking over the horizon. He noticed his brother was already up and about, along with Xi and a few other lionesses. His stomach rumbled but Kal knew the hunting party would hopefully bring home dinner later in the day. In the meantime, he moved out of the shade of the rock that loomed above him and made his way out of the camp. He took in the familiar scent of his brother as he walked towards the watering hole, not altogether shocked that Kasim had chosen to start patrolling early. Upon arriving at his destination, Kal didn't see his brother present but gave it no mind as he lowered his muzzle to the water and began to drink. The herbivores that surrounded what was in essence a large puddle, each gazed upon the dark male with little apprehension. They all knew the water was somewhat of a safe space and that an unspoken treaty had been put in place while they awaited the return of the rains.

Kala| Mzee Pride | Appren. Elder| M: None, Open

She huffed and rose to her feet, Glancing down at Nala and huffing, She then trotted down in the thick brush of the Savannah, Looking around for any Prideless males or Predators that would ambush the pride, She eventually made her way to the watering hole and found a nice clearing to drink, The prey animals tail gateing away from the lioness, She snarled and drank from the cool salty water, Her eyes glued infront of her watching for crocidiles, Flying up as one came crashing towards her, The lioness yowled and swatted at the croc, Piercing her claws into the croc's leather skin.

Nala| Mzee Pride | Appren. Huntress| M: None, Open

She watched as her mother rose to her feet and left for the watering hole, She sighed and sprung to her feet, High tailing it towards the hunting grounds, She knew the pride males and cubs would be hungry soon and she knew she needed to hunt, She crouched into the brush and glued her eyes to an injured Zebra grazing by it's lonesome, She licked her chops and trotted closer making sure to keep unseen, Once close she charged from the brush and towards the Zebra, It was a quick and easy chase and soon she had gotten the Zebra, She sank her sharp teeth into it's neck and it was over for the prey.

Kasim | Mzee Pride | Second | M: Kalisto, Nala

The sky was nearly purple as the night slowly crept over the landscape, though, with excellent night vision, it didn't bother Kasim in the slightest. Having finished his patrol uneventfully, he sat and watched from afar as the light colored lioness (Nala) led the pride's hunting party below in the plains for a successful Zebra hunt. His rough tongue ran over the his dark lips as the hunger settled in with watching the equine eventually be torn into. The male picked up his frame and began backtracing towards the kill which led him to find Kalisto near the watering hole. "Hello, Brother." His greeting was light as he stretched out his body in a relaxed manner, though, not necessarily so submissive. His light blue orbs, nearly hidden under his sandy mane, fixed on Kal and his lips curled into a smile. "Fine evening we're having."

Kalisto | Mzee Pride | King | M: Kasim, Nala

Kalisto rose his head at the sound of the commotion coming from a ways away. Seems the hunting party was successful, the dark male thought as he turned to make his way to where the lionesses had brought down the kill. He paused at the sound of the grass rustling behind him and couldn't help the smile that appeared on his features at the sight of his brother.

"You're not wrong Kas. I think the rainy season might finally be upon us," Kal gestured for his brother to walk beside him as he turned back to face the direction of the kill. "Hopefully the waters return so we aren't all so cramped around here." While some of the prey animals had scattered due to the commotion, a few still lingered at the water's edge their thirst too powerful to make them stray far.

Once the kill came into view and Kal could tell the huntresses were in fact successful in their endeavors, he let out a deep roar in order to let the rest of the pride know there was food to be had. The denmothers would surely take some back for the cubs, but the rest of the pride would need to make their way here to enjoy the meal. Luckily there weren't any sick or badly injured members of the pride so hauling a larger portion back would be unnecessary.

Kasim | Mzee Pride | Second | M: Kalisto

Kasim nodded in agreement with Kalisto as he met his pace, walking beside him towards the kill. "I have no doubts that the monsoons will take care of us. The water will flow, the food will be plentiful, and the first season of your new reign will be a glorious one." Perhaps Kas was embellishing his excitement for Kalisto just a tab too much, but the lion was determined to push down his lingering resentments and get along with this 'new order.' Besides, it wasn't like he could do anything about it ... he had the scars of proof for that one.
.
As the kill came into view, Kasim did his best to control his excitement, becoming very aware of his gait and allowing his steps to fall short of the King's, just slightly. There was an order to the feeding of the carcass. King first, then down the chain of command. Just the nature of things. His round audits perked at Kal's call to the pride, his long nails digging into the earth as he brought himself to sit and await his turn. A low grumble teasing in his throat as he watched the others slowly gather.

Xiana| Mzee Pride | Appren. Healer| M: Mzee Pride, Nala

Kalisto's thunderous roar could be heard for miles, so it was no shock when Xiana's audits tingled with his voice, even from inside the den. "Zo, dinner time." Xiana hopped up from her resting place and trotted towards the door, peering out in the direction of the primary hunting lands and the direction of the call. "Xiana, don't you forget your pack." Ziomara's rugged tone lashed, not sharing the enthusiasim of her daughter. "The hunters are bound to need mending before they eat." She insisted as the lighter lioness sauntered back inside. The small grass woven pouch hung gently within her jaws as the two slowly made their way towards the rest of the pride.
.
At their arrival, both lionesses immediately approached each of the hunter's inspecting them for wounds and aches. Xiana's orbs found Nala and she placed her pouch on the ground before the younger lioness. "Hi, Nala. How was the hunt? Is there anything I can help you with?" She dipped her head respectfully as she was already looking over the female for any obvious abrasions or trauma.

Kalisto | Mzee Pride | King | M: Xiana, Kasim, Mzee Pride

Kal gave a soft smile at his brother's words, even if he didn't quite share his perceived excitement. Even though he had been raised and trained in the ways of the pride and in being its ruler, he still felt out of his element and in way over his head. If he was being honest, Kasim probably would have been the better choice, Kal wasn't blind to all the ways he had worked to prove himself to their father over the years, but he respected their father's wish and took the mantle of king upon himself. The grey male did wince as he noticed his brother's scars, a harsh reminder to both of them of the new order of things.

Kalisto didn't necessarily agree with the way feeding the pride was usually ordered, but he would try to integrate things slowly. Besides, now that the rainy season seemed to be upon them, food should be plentiful for all mouths. He nodded his thanks to the lionesses as he made his way towards the kill, his features brightening as he noticed the familiar reddish pelt of one certain female. He watched as she started her duties before fully digging into his meal.

After he had had enough, Kal stepped back to let his brother enjoy his share before he moved over to where Xi was serving the last of the huntresses. He nudged her shoulder with his own as he sat down beside her, licking his now slightly blood-stained lips to clear any remnants of his meal away. "So how is our lovely healer doing on this fine evening?"
