They're a premium feature :( Basically you can enter your horse for a chance at a boost in stats, but it's not guaranteed and your horse could lose stats as well. |

Welcome to my first hosted RP in 3 years! Lets play with giant kitties, shall we? 
The West African Lion is a critically endangered subspecies of lion found on the western tip of the African continent. West Cypress Reserve is a 10,488 square mile protected area complex in Nigeria. This complex is two and a half times the size of Yellowstone, able to comfortably contain and protect up to 500 lions within its boundaries. While the reserve does retain the largest diverse wildlife population of any other park, the west african lions are among one of the smallest groups with only 70 to 100 lions in total. West Cypress has made the preservation of the subspecies it's top priority and has recieved many grants and volunteers to help track, study, and protect these amazing animals from trophy hunters who attempt to tresspass into this mostly untouched wilderness. It is the reserve's number one goal to leave all these creatures untouched by man and only ever intervine on the most special of circumstances. Otherwise, they let mother nature call the shots. Rules 1. No Godmodding - that being said, each writer may practice the right to evade an attack from another character while fighting. 2. Chit chat is fine but you can put chats above your character's responses in the SAME post in order to keep this thread from getting cluttered with chat. You can chat via PM at your will. 3. No romance described above a PG13 level 4. No stolen images or inpropperly credited photos from outside sources are allowed in this forum, just as they are not allowed anywhere else on this site. 5. Pride Terminology Pride King & Queen The leaders of the pride, protects and tries to do what's either best for the pride or for their own self interest. Usually, these two are a mated pair, however, there are other circumstances where leaders can be non-mated lions, such as siblings through inheritance. Pride's Second Second in command, if something were to happen to the Queen/King, they would become the leader if left unchallenged. They are brought along to remain up to date on all pride matters. They also act as a manager to make sure the pride is running smoothly along the lower ranks. Pride's Shaman Healer of the pride. They use herbs to heal wounds, illness and diseases. It is also believed that they can communicate with the spirits of their ancestors - possibly, able to learn of the future. This specific job detail makes then keen advisors for the leader(s). Pride Lions Pride lions are the adult males and females that make up the largest portions of any pride. They are responsible for hunting and patroling the territory. There is a Cheif Hunter/Huntress that leads those whose skills make them a part of the hunt parties, as well as a Warchief/tess who leads patrols and keeps the skills sharp on those who protect the entire pride in times of battle or conflict. Denmothers These lionesses sole purpose is to protects the cubs and raise the next generation of the pride. While there are some lionesses that reamain den mothers their whole lives, helping new/young mothers learn how to care for their young, this is usually a temporary position, as once their cubs are weaned and growing, the lioness will return to her previous rank. *As a pride lion, you can choose to become apart of any of these ranks you choose. Ofc a male cant be a den mother, per say, but a male can be a guard specifically to look after the mothers and cubs. Elders While these lions can no longer hunt and fight for themselves and the pride, their years of experience and knowledge is invaluable. One of the most highly respected ranks, Elders spend their time each day passing on their wisdoms to the younger generations. They are also advisors for the King/Queen in times of war or hardships. Apprentices Apprentices are usually found doing mundane taks and chores around the den, such as collecting bedding, helping the hunters or warriors, or keeping cubs and elders company. These are the second youngest lions of the pride and are trained under the heads of each group within the pride. Apprentices will become fully fledged members of the pride once training has been completed and will either lean towards the path of a hunter, sentury, or shaman. Cubs The future of the pride, they are well looked after from the entire pride, but primarily by the den mothers. They have no special duties, other than learning from their older pride members. Non Pride Terms Coalitions Coalitions are typically made up of male lions; brothers or cousins, although some also include unrelated males. The foremost reason male lions form coalitions is to compete with other male lions for mates. These groups typically do not exceed groups of five or six males. Coalitions do tend to have a leader, but other ranks to not exist. Loners These lion(esses) do not have a pride, which can be for several reasons. They wander through other prides' territories and scavange for scraps as usually solo hunting is unsucssessful and extremely dangerous. Lionesses tend to have better chances at joining a pride than lone male lions. |

Main Plot Two prides of West African lions have occupied the land within the West Cypress Reserve, but not always peacefully. As nature would intend, the two former kings of each group would occasionally pick battles between each other when food was more scare in one area over the other, or if a water source completely evaporated during a dry season. It wasn't until both kings had grown older and each started a family did they decide to form a peace treaty for the safety of their families. With the most recent passing of the Mzee Pride's king, Omari, there stands a question of if the treaty will be honored for another generation as the new king, Kalisto, steps into power. Kalisto is very much like his father, so it feels safe to assume he will summon a meeting with Nzuri Queen, Hodari, in the spirit of peace, but with other unseen forces lurking for weaknesses, it's unclear what is going to happen. |

I have MANY to choose from :) Existing Prides Mzee Pride ("The Old Pride") The Swahili word "Mzee" means old, which accurately describes this pride's extended existance. Named and dubbed, "The Old Pride," the Mzee lions have been documented for several decades and for dozens of generations as they have occupied the savannah regions of the West Cypress Reserve. The same family of lions has ruled as Kings of the Mzee pride since the bloodline's introduction to the reserve in the early 1900s. The previous King, Omari, was a ruler that was firm, but fair. He tended to his pride's needs and listened to their desires for their unit. He had two sons during his reign; One, Kalisto, who was very much like him in almost every way. And then their was Kasim, who was more sensitive and reactive, but he tried tirelessly to win his father's favor. He fought harder than Kalisto, attended many more meetings than Kalisto. He wanted to be his father's right hand, and he was for a while. Kalisto on the other hand, didn't have to struggle as much as his brother as his father seemed to have a different attitude towards him than Kasim. But Omari taught both of his sons the ways of the pride and also taught them how to be leaders. However, on his deathbed, Omari bestowed the title of King to Kalisto. Not many saw this as a shock but there was some sort of shift in Kasim's behavior after. He was much more quiet and aloof. There were rumors of course! Rumors that Kasim disagreed with his late father's decision and then there was some sort of scuffle between the brothers as Kasim fought for what he deemed as his "right," but in the end, Kalisto had defended his father's last wish and remained King through a fair fight. The only evidence of this rumor might being true was the fact that Kasim now bares a few scars on his face, but both brothers claim this is from defending the territory from rogues one evening they were both on patrol not long after Omari's death. Kasim has not caused any form of trouble over the recent months since that "incident" as Kalisto prepares to take over the pride and his new responisbilities as a diplomat amongst the other prides in neighboring territories. He has set the task in motion to form alliances and peace treaties with the other prides in order to began his (hopefully) harmonious reign. Kalisto is relying on Kasim to help him in this task by sending him to the Nzuri pride to arrange a meeting in his behalf while Kalisto himself tends to another pride. He seems to trust his brother and these silly rumors just seem to be that, but is it entirely true?
