It depends if you set the option "enter all horses" or "only enter competitive horses".

She usually (thinks that she) knows when a horse is ready to get shown.

I used to have a reassign>consolidate system it's just been so long that I forgot xD

I love this cosolidate riders option ;)
It helps to safe money.

First I reassign, then I colsolidate, then I re-hire and then I go through the <5horses assigned riders and check the higher leveled riders, if I can consolidate some more to have as less riders as possible

I do not recommend a breed - just get 20 level 3+ horses, assign them to 2 riders and build up your show string. Once they start to earn you money you can start to build up a breeding line with a breed YOU like.
The plus: some incoming ebs and time to make decisions which ones you like most

Easy since i dont have much money at the moment.

Ugh, still in bed. I will get my coffee though.
Kind of ecstatic for several reasons but one of them being that the bleeding heart I stole out of my parents garden bed is suuuper happy

There is a "consolidate riders" option avaiable and a "only use all discipline trained riders" checkbox. Both help a lot ;)

The other evening I was discussing additional grain/supplements in the chatbox and gathered a few ideas for my boy Roman. He is a 13 Y/O OTTB gelding. He's not terribly underweight but I feel he could use some extra pounds and whatever benefits that come from an all-in-one type grain. We do moderate work - I ride/lunge a few times per week, nothing strenuous and no competing. Just fun. :) He hasn't really proven to be a hard keeper or anything, and has not lost weight since I got him back in May. He's currently getting Alfalfa 2x per day.

Recent pics for reference (the first one is really just to show off his cute dappled butt XD):

Unfortunately, I am not made of money and have a budget. I'd prefer to stay under $25 per 50lb bag, as I'm thinking I'll need approx. 2 per month. I did a bunch of research in my area and have found the following:

* Calf-Manna - $35-$40/bag. (Highly suggested in chat - but costly)
* Purina Ultium - $28/bag. (Highly suggested in chat - a bit over budget)
* Purina Strategy Pro Formula - $15-$18/bag. (Half/half views online, some love it - some hate it, but reasonably priced)
>> Link: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/purina-strategy-professional-formula-gx-horse-feed-50-lb?cm_vc=-10005
* Triple Crown Complete - $25/bag. (Found high suggestions of this via forums online, just at budget)
>> Link: https://www.triplecrownfeed.com/products/complete/
* LMF Super Supplement - $25/bag. (Feed less/last longer, at budget)
* Nutrena SafeChoice - $18-$20/bag.
* Triumph Complete (12/14%) - $15/bag.

I've also read reviews that sometimes senior feed for not-so-senior horses can be good, too, but can be higher in sugar. I want to avoid anything that might make him a crazy TB because he currently is not one LOL.

In addition to this, I'll be doing 1 week/month of Sand Clear/Purge because he is in a sandy paddock. Some other suggestions I am looking into are dac Oil and Nu-image, however I'm kinda thinking I'd just like to start with one thing at a time and see how he does. Open to suggestions on other things I can easily throw into his grain baggies. :)

Based on your personal experience and the content of the options above, what would you guys suggest as the best bang for my buck? I am open to other suggestions so long as they do not run over $25 per 50lb bag.

** NOTE - I am not interested in anything that requires special preparation, ie: I have to add water to/mash/soak/etc. I can't make it to the barn every day and they will feed anything that is pre-made (in a ziploc baggie) and can be easily dumped into his trough.

I dont see many grains in the elk grove formulas to be honest, but that might not be a bad thing. You could also look into Nutrena Safechoice feeds, or even Nutrena Pro Force feeds, or Nutrena Triumph feeds. Last time I worked at a feed store they were $14-$19/bag or less

Oh hmm.

Nutrena Safechoice runs $18-$20/bag.
Nutrena Pro Force seems to be geared more towards extreme athlete horses, which he is not. XD
Triumph Complete runs $15/bag.

Both of those are good options. :)

Edit - After doing a bit more research, it seems the Stable Mix is more of a hay replacement. Going to remove from the list because he doesn't need that.

I would go for the Triumph complete, the Triumph 12% Pellet, or the 14% Pellet. The 12% pellet and 14% pellet are a bit higher in fat though, which might help him put on some weight

EDIT: Just had a brain fart, it was what Apex suggested LOL. The brand i get is like dog food pebbles though, its weird. I think there is different types of pellets but i am not exactly sure

@ Overlook - Thank you! <3

@ Apex - You know what is funny is I just came across a forum where someone recommended that. They said it was more cost efficient as you don't need to feed as much. Going to look into it, thank you!

K so LMF Super Supplement runs $25/50lb bag and I can get it local. From what I've read it is fed @ about 1lb 1x per day, which would last almost 2 months. So far, seems like the best bang for my buck. ^_^

What is the difference between an all-in-one type grain/supplement and a ration balancer?
