Well since I have time here is the update from the past 2 rides with Baloo!
~ 4/27/20 ~
We hauled to one of the public indoor arenas to get the horses away from home and be able to work them in a larger space. There was nobody but my mom, my sister, my friend and I so it was great lol. I worked Baloo in the big indoor arena first. He was a total gem with the banners on the wall, birds flying around and the wind making some odd noises. Our biggest area of improvement is getting his leads so we worked on that the most just getting him to bend into his leads and keep them throughout a circle then executing a simple lead change. He was sooooo good about his leads that day! As he has gotten stronger he has developed a natural collected head carriage which makes him look so beautiful and he is definitely a contender for the hunter ring. After being in the arena we went out to the 1/2 mile galloping track and let them have a bit of fun. This was a great opportunity to move out and help build his muscles. He loped around great for a couple laps, just letting him really extend his stride and reach out. Then, on the straights I would ask him into a gallop which he would just float right into. His strides are big and lofty so galloping him was not only good for letting him stretch but also for me to feel him out a bit. He really enjoyed being able to go fast but also slowed down to a lope, then a trot like an absolute gentleman. He even walked off level headed and calm. All in all, I was extremely proud of him for being such a good boy. His 2nd time off my property and his first time in an indoor. Goes to prove just how good of a mind Baloo really has.
